Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup th-cam.com/users/postUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
Jon I appreciate that you keep this spot secret. I first fished this in the late 70s, grew up hunting and fishing here.
It’s changed a lot over the decades but the smallies are still here. Had not fished this for 5 or 6 years then saw your video and had to go back. I was relieved to see no human tracks or trash and had lots of smallmouth action all day.
Every time I think I can't get more surprised with his editing skills, he proves me wrong. Dude is gotta make to television real soon...

The smallies are getting turned up here on Watts Bar Lake. Loving it!!! Got 4 big 3 + pound smallies on top water this afternoon. I thought the mid 80 degree temps was going to kill the top water bite but it was still on this afternoon. Hopefully the low 50 degree nights are holding the water temps down. Tight Lines!!! 🎣🎣🎣
Really cool to see you fly fishing man. Gotta love smallies on the fly. One of the first good (debatable) smallies I caught ended up being roughly two and a half pounds, using a stonefly nymph. Thought it was the biggest brown trout I had ever hooked! After that I started targeting them with an eight weight rod on lakes and man, oh man, are getting smallmouth in the four to five pound range some of the best fun I have ever had. Hope to see more videos with you fly fishing!

Hey Jon, I live down on the Colorado river in Arizona. This time of year there is a great top water and crainkbait bite. The scenery is amazing, and you could get some "dope v' role". Caught my first frog fish, it was almost 5 pounds, and after that I caught 10 more. I've got a boat and some knowledge of the area if you want to come out. Keep up the great videos, its nice to be blue to watch some fishing when I can't be myself.

Get some silicon beads (like the type they have in a package of beef jerky) and put them in a ziplock with your gopro for a week. Your camera will function perfectly fine assuming you can get a majority of the water out of it before hand.
