Tom Shannon I was as well, I wouldn't hesitate flying on one of these. even with the embargo in place, they kept a 40 year old aircraft ( im assuming its age) flight worthy. although I was counting the upper deck windows, and IIRC the upper deck windows on the first 747s, had what 3 on each side? regardless they do the best with what they've got. and airclips does us aircraft buffs a great service posting these vids. im sad as well I wont be ab le to fly in this one. unless they set it up for a charter service or something.
The last time I was on a 747 was during the 70's at MIA while working for Eastern Airlines. We had one in the hanger for mtce. I remember checking the oxygen system. While there I entered the cockpit and sat in the capts seat for a brief moment. Quite a thrill. This 747 was a lease from another airline, can't remember which one. I was there from our DC6's and 7's, Martin 404's, Convair 440's, Lockheed 749, 1049, 1049C, 1049G, Lockheed Electra's and the jets until I left in Dec 1974. Worked on all of them. I loved EAL even though Capt Eddie was a SOB. Miss those days so much.
Iran surely get their money's worth out of this unique aircraft, just as they keep their F14s in top flying condition those 14s are really beautiful to and 1 of the best fighters ever built in the history of fighter planes
What a beauttiful bird & reminds me of the good old Pan Am days. I woluld have no concerns to fly with that wonderful plane, as i know Iran Air takes good care of them.
Wow, looking out cabin window at engine reminds me of first time I flew in 747, when they were very new. We were flying to Germany, our first trip abroad, out of New York, Fall of 1971. They had only been introduced into service just over two years earlier. I watched in amazement as we took off as the engines mountings flexed, and I could clearly see it. It is still as amazing an aircraft now as it was revolutionary then, and remains my favorite.
What a fantastic video!! Its a great credit to Iran Air that on the its last flight the 747-100 was in such pristine condition, it looked factory fresh to me. I hope these Pilots get to fly the new equipment they soon will be getting ! Very much Liked and Subscribed!!!
Great video. The interiors are nothing short of a trip back in time to the 1970s when air travel was elegant and special, a royal privilege of a deserved few!
Thanks for this video. I love IranAir, they are a great airline and its great to see that they still run the 747-100 and the 747SP. Its just a shame that politics stops them from getting new planes :(
I miss these planes, the 100 model. Its the one I rode in as a kid and ran up the staircase to the bar in the early 80's. It left a lasting impression on me, having a staircase to another room was so cool for a kid to see and there was so much room in the plane. I miss these birds, hopefully one day the stored or displayed models we have left can be put into flying condition and let us lovers take a ride again.
This aircraft began it's life as a commercial airliner in 1970. Imagine the technological leap from 1918 to 1970, when compared to the leap from 1970 to 2022. These were the true pioneers of aircraft.
You're only lucky when the plane you're flying on is retiring. But you guys are pretty damn lucky to fly in those and I am as well for flying in Iran Aseman's 727-200 not so long ago
Some machine! so much better than a glass cockpit was fascinating watching him control the throttle quadrant on landing, was lucky enough to of flown on one of twa’s early ones as a kid to
What a great plane ! Thanks for sharing this video. The first time I came to Europe was back in 1984. I flew from La Paz (Bolivia) to Frankfurt with a Lufthansa 747-100 via Lima, Bogotá and San Juan. I had a seat in the back of the plane...in the smokers area ! The take-off roll from La Paz (El Alto airport) took about 1 minute and 20 seconds.
Say what you like about Iran, at least they had a kick-ass fleet! My favorite airline is British Airways because im British but I love it when Iran Air's A310 comes in and lands at LHR, now if you wanna see an A310 you need to go to Gatwick and see the Air Transat A310 :(
It won't take very long untill only the modern planes are left, When I go to the nearest airfield it is flooded with 737's, a320's and other modern twin-engine airliners. Previously you would see a 737-300, but they are being phased out as well and are becomming less common. It's kinda sad...
99domini99 Trulz sad. Remember the Times when at my little home airport was much less than today, but at the same time you had BAC 1/11, B727s and a TriStar on ground...
Air-Clips.com I think there is nothing more we can do than just go with the flow, Altough I will really miss the old classics I also find the modern tech very interesting. The 737 for example will always stay a little classic for me altough it's tech is improving.
Disrespectful comments will be deleted immediately. I've experienced Iran Air as an excellent airline with outstanding crew and we'll keep it like that.
Wow, flying this relic of a Boeing 747-100 is more like a delicate and courageous work of art, than strictly-speaking a technical feat of airmanship. I hate to venture a guess what the metal fatigue load and the critical component stresses must be on that old flying dinosaur. I honestly think there should be no sanctions placed on the Iranians, when it comes to purchasing newer comercial planes, and when there are civilian lives at stake.
Thought the same thing on the 777. Number on the gear door doesn't match, though. This one was RH, the lost planes were RO and RD. Interesting, but so very sad. RIP
Iran Air has has kept these aircrafts in immaculate condition. They are well maintained and serviced. However look what happened to United flight #811 back on Feb 24th, 1989 which it was fairly a new 747-100. Due to lack of maintenance, on a flight from Honolulu to Auckland, the forward cargo door blew out and there was an explosive decompression and nine lives were lost, plus a few Flight Attendants with PTSD's, whom are still working.
its so sad that even we iranian ppl cant even get on this bird anymore ... if i was the one in charge , i would've bought and payed for all the new devices and engines and parts to totally refresh this cute big bird back to life for another round ... this 100 model , i can say without any doubt , is a never happening again !
That oldest 747-100 delivred in 1979, no longer fly today, it was stored since 2014 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 i'ts was the last 747-100 in passager version in service
How could anyone dislike this. Excellent aircraft, excellent crew. What's not to like
I don't think there will ever be a sexier aircraft than 747.
Concorde................................?
747 is the beast
DC-10 comes pretty close, but the 747 will always stay as #1. Especially the -100/-200
err 737
I agree totally
Iran Air knew how to truly MAINTAIN airplanes, keep them beautiful past age 40, that is really respectable! I would fly them anytime.
In my opinion, this is one of TH-cam's finest videos. Amazing.
Thanks a lot, Tom - you made my day!
No problem at all AirClips, I was fairly mesmerised haha. Superb.
Tom Shannon I was as well, I wouldn't hesitate flying on one of these. even with the embargo in place, they kept a 40 year old aircraft ( im assuming its age) flight worthy. although I was counting the upper deck windows, and IIRC the upper deck windows on the first 747s, had what 3 on each side? regardless they do the best with what they've got. and airclips does us aircraft buffs a great service posting these vids. im sad as well I wont be ab le to fly in this one. unless they set it up for a charter service or something.
yamahonkawazuki They have to keep using these old planes because americans and europeans won't give them new planes.
Can really hear and feel how mechanical it is, I really enjoyed your video
outwestlawns Oh yes, good old times!
Mach .84 at 38000ft?? Must have been light but this old bird is MOVIN. Love this vid.
Thanks a lot!
Pilots flew that bird like a boss..no glass cockpit...just old school flight controls...FIRE \m/

DC-8, DC-10 and 747-sp will always be the sexiest planes.
True they look really powerful ☺️
Yeah 🥵✈️💦
passengers of that plane they are super lucky
Just as beautiful in 2013 as the day she flew her first flight.
apiece ofdirt Iranians are superiors in keeping their planes in perfect service after decades of heaviest sanctions on aircraft parts.
apiece ofdirt wtf?
Iran surely get their money's worth out of this unique aircraft, just as they keep their F14s in top flying condition those 14s are really beautiful to and 1 of the best fighters ever built in the history of fighter planes
Long Live IRAN😍🇮🇷😘.A Unique country with the most intelligent & bravest people on earth.
An iconic and historical flight of one (if not) the most famous aircraft in history and not even a water cannon salute......great video. Well done.
Such a pro flight crew
What a beauttiful bird & reminds me of the good old Pan Am days.
I woluld have no concerns to fly with that wonderful plane, as i know Iran Air takes good care of them.
Dude you know that B747SP was actually Pan Am+Iran Air's work?
Wow, looking out cabin window at engine reminds me of first time I flew in 747, when they were very new. We were flying to Germany, our first trip abroad, out of New York, Fall of 1971. NOOOOO, don't tell me that - is it true? Last chance gone to buy a passenger ticket for a 747-100 flight? Damn!
Are you sure it was withdrawn from service ? On its picture it is beside Lufthansa Technik maintenance why?
Air-Clips.com it's true, and there was only 47 souls on board
Still in service
What a fantastic video!!

Great video. The interiors are nothing short of a trip back in time to the 1970s when air travel was elegant and special, a royal privilege of a deserved few!
My dad flew that very plan for 30 years. They were falling apart. In this case you see the plane did not have a working APU.
Afaik, a non working APU isn't a serious fault
In hot countries like Iran, yes it is.
TheLT yes it is imagine if the plane losses the engines giving power to the plane
Thanks for this video. I love IranAir, they are a great airline and its great to see that they still run the 747-100 and the 747SP. Its just a shame that politics stops them from getting new planes :(
Amazing!
All respect to you pilots!
Love C
such a beautiful airplane
Very good .from nicaragua friend of irán

OMG AMAZING 😍🔥🔝✈️ truly a classic, 4x Pratt & Whitney JT9D powerrrrr 🦅 🇺🇸 RAAAAAAAAAAH
I still remember my first flight on a 747 100 it was March 1983 flew from Dublin to Faro
She’s still got it! Way to go Boeing
This aircraft began it's life as a commercial airliner in 1970. Imagine the technological leap from 1918 to 1970, when compared to the leap from 1970 to 2022. These were the true pioneers of aircraft.
Iran Air (Homa) Is the best Company in the world, am glad i always travel back home with them .
Beautiful JT9Ds
I love them!!!!
Sad to see these Iran Air planes go out of service :( I hope they get the new 747-800i.
Nope Airbus is their only option (axis of evil, remember ?)
Recently after the 747-700 series was closed, the two ending 00's at the end of every version was cut to make it just 747-8.
I love 747
and I thought I was lucky to fly on a 737-300 last month. :/
You're only lucky when the plane you're flying on is retiring. But you guys are pretty damn lucky to fly in those and I am as well for flying in Iran Aseman's 727-200 not so long ago
That's the real beauty, the REAL FLYING MACHINE RATHER THAN A FLYING COMPUTER..❤
Some machine! so much better than a glass cockpit was fascinating watching him control the throttle quadrant on landing, was lucky enough to of flown on one of twa’s early ones as a kid to
So sad she's done. Lucky for us she survived for so long, and what a pleasure to see her perform up close. Blast from the past, for sure.
Wow!!! A flight engineer??
What a great plane ! Thanks for sharing this video. The first time I came to Europe was back in 1984. I flew from La Paz (Bolivia) to Frankfurt with a Lufthansa 747-100 via Lima, Bogotá and San Juan. The most beautiful aircraft ever...
I love the Boeing voice
Damn.
Now they are retiring the B747SP too :(
MYPD SHP Yeah, disappointing!
+Air-Clips.com they are using the 747SP for flights to Mumbai and Kuala Lumpur
+Air-Clips.com They returned one Boeing 747SP back to service
Say what you like about Iran, at least they had a kick-ass fleet! My favorite airline is British Airways because im British but I love it when Iran Air's A310 comes in and lands at LHR, now if you wanna see an A310 you need to go to Gatwick and see the Air Transat A310 :(
we love 747 all series.
And most airlines have already retired all their 747-400s.... lol
Wonderful video! It gave me a thrill in my stomach seeing that approach and landing.
Thnaks so much!
IRAN AIR 💘 LOVE
Love that cockpit. Way more charming than any 787 or A350.
Good thing that you still can step into 747-100 in Le Bourget Air&Space Museum in Paris.
Going to travel in this air plane to Canada 😁😁 after some days
Thanks for this great vid! Love the classic 747.
It won't take very long untill only the modern planes are left, When I go to the nearest airfield it is flooded with 737's, a320's and other modern twin-engine airliners. Previously you would see a 737-300, but they are being phased out as well and are becomming less common. It's kinda sad...

99domini99 True. Go to Villavicencio, Teheran, Pyongyang and Africa and enjoy what's left of the good old times!
+Air-Clips.com They are retiring 747's since the 777 can do that at a cheaper price. Nowadays, its just 787, 777, A320's, A330, A350 and some A380's
+Tyger Voods also 747-800 and a340
Disrespectful comments will be deleted immediately. I've experienced Iran Air as an excellent airline with outstanding crew and we'll keep it like that.
Que época desses jatos 747-200
Muito bom;
Saudades aqui no Brasil da Varig.
parabéns pelo Vídeo
that follow me car is cute
Amazing video! Can somebody tell me please what the levers behind the thrust levers are used for? Engineer was holding it during touch down
cool guys in the cockpit! true cowboys riding the old reliable... keep on going!!! wish they would return to fly to europe again with 747's
Bye bye Boeing 747 100. We'll never see airplane like You. You're so beautiful when you're in the sky. Like you Queen of the Sky.
The best video I have ever seen
Thank you so much!
GE has been using a 100 this year for engine testing. I saw it in Victorville the other day.

Yes, this flight was going from Kuala Lumpur to Tehran IKA (Imam Khomeni).
Both pilots are definetly in need of barber.
Amazing plane, amazing video, great crew great everything I love this vid.
Wow thank you for the amazing feedback cheers!
What a great majestic birds these B747 have been!
I was lucky enough to fly two historic airlines just before their retirement! They were Mexicana de Avacion and US Airways.
Amazing material!
Thank you very much!
Where are they getting the parts ? Who makes gauges for the flight engineer?
This is truely elegent
a 100 stretched?upper deck? my place for many years😭mis you
Oh no I hope I didnt trigger some nostalgic emotions :(
I don't know why, but I just love the look of those jt9ds
To answer your question: This aircraft was built in 1979, but still is in an extremely good shape!
A malaysian 777 and a silk air 737! I wonder?
Thought the same thing on the 777. Number on the gear door doesn't match, though. This one was RH, the lost planes were RO and RD. Interesting, but so very sad. RIP
Legendary...
Later model versions of the 747-100, interesting
whoa... are those CRT projectors, that displaying map on the cabin?
Iran Air has has kept these aircrafts in immaculate condition. They are well maintained and serviced.

I love these old birds, everything is mechanical and analogue. A by gone ere.
I thought PIA had a few of these knocking around but they are the -300's.
Nice vid.
Plane Flying Thanks a lot again. Yes, a few "ancient" 747s still fly around. But the -100 has left commercial aviation forever now. Sadly...
Perfect, thanks for uploading this.
Boeing 747 8 My Favorite❤
1:07 What are the strange streaks on the wings? (747-100 and 747-SP)
Awesome!!! That was such a cool video. Too bad these beautiful -100's are all parked.
Thanks a lot!
Wish I had the chance to fly on a -100.
Thanks for sharing!
Amazing video of iconic plane. Thanks for sharing!
Nice video and classic jumbo jet..the seats all running down conditions..time for a good rest 741
Bring back Flight Engineers!!
They maintained her very well!
The 747-100 and -200 have exactly the same checklist, that's why it didn't matter.
its so sad that even we iranian ppl cant even get on this bird anymore ... if i was the one in charge , i would've bought and payed for all the new devices and engines and parts to totally refresh this cute big bird back to life for another round ... this 100 model , i can say without any doubt , is a never happening again !
sorry for the late reply .... yes i feel what you say ....
Pewsquirrel Aviation

My first ever flight was on the 747-100, back in 2007 when I was just 5 ❤

lovely video! thanks for uploading!
That oldest 747-100 delivred in 1979, no longer fly today, it was stored since 2014 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 i'ts was the last 747-100 in passager version in service
