I was in the Philadelphia area a few years ago and on a whim to a drive over to Merion for a look. The course was actually closed and going through renovations at the time. The superintendent was kind enough to let me walk around the back nine on my own. I was most appreciative and just seeing it was about as great a thrill as I could imagine. Merion might be the shrine of American golf history or certainly close.
@@kingfwug4186 he would’ve been about as far left as he was past at the very best. Also, he’s probably the best short wedge player ever. Such a tough course, need to be so accurate with all the slopes and elevation changes. Don’t let the fact it’s a short course fool you (except 17th over 225 yd par 3 and 18th 520yd+ par 4 uphill and 0 birdies in 4 rounds of the best players in the world). I agree with you if that’s not apparent btw! The op knows as much about golf as he does about spelling 😂
Rose deserved to win... he outplayed Phil... and what does it matter if he missed the British Open cut? Alot of players did... Justin Rose is a great golfer who played good at the right time.

"Jason Day is a terrific player with the stuff to contend and maybe win a major"
SVP called it👀
Anyone could have called that
U around here
The club selection and shot execution was incredible on #18
Justin has one of the best swings in golf and well deserved.
Justin Rose. 2013 United States Open Champion, Rio 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist. Good man!
5:57 what a beautiful swing under enormous pressure
As an ordinary hacker, I'd be happy if I got anything under 15 on the 18th. That is a ridiculously hard hole.
Merion is a fabulous design by the master Alister McKenzie . designer of Augusta National, as well as several of Monterey Peninsula's great layouts.
Jason day came 2nd how far back was he
What a cool course to win at not having any flags
This is how U.S. Open should be..guys struggling to get to under par
Didn't think it would be his last till 2024...
Phil chipping that putt was so dum. His putt would not have gone that far past.
Nolan Marshall he couldnt have putted it, fringe was in the way lol

There you Justin Rose
I just wish Phil had won he deserves the slam
only Ben Hogan can master the 18th at Merion
how did he master it???? He hit it to 40 feet on 18 from the same spot Rose hit it to 20 feet

Baldy was irate that Phony didn't win. Nothing better than seeing Phil choke into another US Open runner up.
Always nice to see the greediest golfer see loosing.
