    Find it funny the HR-V is the slowest since it has the most go-fast shade of red in the group

    One of the most spacious and the most off-road capable cars in this group won despite being the least SUV-like. So can we all agree that CUVs are dumb and we should all just be driving wagons? Please??

      I agree! More Lifted Wagons! Outback, Crosstrek, they are perfect! Although the Renegade is quite capable, but only in Trailhawk form, and then reliability comes to play.

    I like that you chose the cars on price point. It's frustrating seeing comparisons of cars with widly varying prices and options.

    So a lifted hatchback/wagon with car suspension/subframes are considered small SUVs?

    • @Captain_Brown_Beard
      @Captain_Brown_Beard 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol yeah. Our gas prices in the states are really low now, so the we are buying the big V8 suvs now again...Wish we would get the diesel versions of the cars the UK gets.

    The Subaru XV Crosstrek maybe "subcompact" in name but it is not subcompact in size. It has the Impreza's body frame which is a compact. Subaru just could have said they have two compact suv/cuv's: The Crosstrek and The Forrester. Jeep technically has three compact vehicles: The Compass, The Patriot, and the Cherokee which is "compact" in name only.

    My wife drives the Jeep Renegade and she loves it. This is her 4th new Jeep. She has had two Wranglers and one Cherokee. She says she likes the Renegade best for all around driving.

      Its a FIAT, don't expect good long term reliability.
      FIAT recently came in dead last for reliability compared to 30 other manufacturers.

    the first suv of these size is not the jute it is the Suzuki and Geo SUVs of the 1990s

    I'm with others in being confused why the XV Crosstrek is even in this comparison being that it's a compact vehicle, not a subcompact. This is why it has much more room than the others.

    Ahhhh the Nissan Juke, the eldest and old fossil of the crossover SUVS

  • @cadsux
    @cadsux 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Crosstrek is classified as a compact vehicle, not subcompact. In order to be a wagon, the vehicle must be longer than the sedan it's based on, with more emphasis on utility space (after the C-pillar). It's really a hatchback since it's shorter in length than the Impreza. But you'll get no argument from me about it being a good crossover.

    For a segment that was supposed to be the next big thing, the subcompact SUV craze seems to be a bust. The Mazda is cramped and the Honda is boring to drive. The rest seem to be mediocre. The fact that you chose a car that isn't technically part of this class says a lot.

    • @foxtrot685
      @foxtrot685 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it isn't a bust at all, it's quite successful. Most of these entries are selling well with exception to the HR-V and 500x due to production constraints.

    they labeled the crosstrek as a 2016 but its a 2015

    "The original subcompact SUV, Nissan Juke." No, that was the Suzuki SX4, which was ahead of it's time.

    • @cadsux
      @cadsux 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sglider From 2006 to 2013, the SX4 was considered a compact vehicle. In 2013, the SX4 S-Cross was classified as subcompact, and sales were discontinued in the U.S. that same year. The Juke, introduced in 2010, did make this segment popular though, as Nissan's 2nd or 3rd best selling model.

    • @sglider
      @sglider 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't matter what they classified it as back then because there was no market. The new SX4 S-Cross is now longer and wider than the original and yet it is now considered a subcompact. And the dimensions for the original sx4 compared to the Juke are incredibly close.

    • @cadsux
      @cadsux 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +sglider I agree. They had to call it a compact because the sedan version met the criteria, while the hatchback is much shorter in length. If there was no sedan version, it would have easily been classified as subcompact.

    • @sglider
      @sglider 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cadsux Oh yes, that's right. I always forget about the sedan version. It just looks so wrong to me as a sedan.

      +cadsux I consider the Nissan Juke a compact vehicle too, but I really don't understand how cars in general are all classified. It makes no sense.

    • @cadsux
      @cadsux 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +misamisatv The U.S. EPA defines the subcompact vehicle as being under 165 inches in length. The Juke is 162 to 164 inches, depending on trim. The IIHS lumps all compact and subcompact cars as "small". I understand your confusion. It's generally based on length, wheelbase, passenger & cargo volume. Add to the that, the term "Crossover", which is a blending of vehicle types & qualities, & it can get messy.
