I was recently hired as a medical assistant at the local corporate Healthcare system, in which they trains us on the job at a learning facility and during clinical rotations in the physician offices. Then we participate in a match system for jobs at the end of the program. I do not have any formal education as a medical assistant at this point. During my interview, when I asked what I thought my biggest weakness was, I answered "When I am not immediately good at a new skill, I get easily discouraged and may try to avoid carrying out said skill. In order for me to excel in this program, it is important that instructors will hold us accountable for refining our practical skills while also reassuring us that help is available if we need it. Otherwise, this opporutunity may not be a good fit for me." They appreciated my honesty, but also my awareness that it is a weakness that is fixable in a practical way. Since I interviewed with the clinical director who also oversees all instruction, she told me she would make a note in my file to check in with me directly after every skill and offered me the first official spot in the cohort right there. It was a very validating experience.

Do you mind sharing what company you applied for? I am looking for in trading job as a medical assistant and i haven’t had any luck because almost all of them require certification.

So, I don't mind telling the truth and that has gotten me into trouble before but I don't know how to explain it. I know it's a weakness buy also a strength

Maybe you can say something like, “My strength is that I’m an honest person. I always tell the truth. But it’s also a weakness because sometimes I can be too blunt. I’m working on delivering truth in a more empathetic way.” What do you think of that?
