just lost two today after 11 months. watched one flicker then die. the other my wife noticed above my 3d printer. gonna email them and see what they think. part of me wanted to order another 6pk and swap as they fail. got my 3 rooms worth on amazon. I have a bad feeling I have multiple groups out. passthrough works still.
Good job on the repair! I almost got there, but didn't have the idea to solder over the dead LED's Figured Leaving them open would be better as it wouldn't re-create the diode resistance, but of course that didn't work. I will try this next time, Maybe I can get Barrina to replace my dead cells as well, as I've had 4 of 12 go dead on me since installing about 6 months ago.
This seems ridiculous that THAT MANY LEDS went dead within a year. If they're seriously that unreliable, I'd just buy a new LED strip and replace the entire strip. SuperBrightLEDS sells almost every kind of strip light available. Get a 16' strip and split it into 4 pieces, you just need a backing strip to mount it to to slide it into (unless these can be removed from their backing)
