A great Runciman haul - the long-lost Jason Harrigan would have applauded! I was so captivated by the books I was distracted from the monstrous Satanic little creature so repeatedly trying to kill and eat you!
Some of those early heresies and sects can get pretty interesting and a bit bizarre if the historian doesn't drag the reader through the weeds. Nice collection, I've never seemed to do this with historians I like, probably should try it sometime. Great vid David
Reading writing that I like takes primacy with me - subject matter could be secondary. Every time I’ve touched these heresies it’s felt like a weed dragging. We’ll see how I fare, if I get there. 👍
Vespers arrived. Am reading it along with Charlotte Smith and Louise Gluck per your instructions. Their intertectuality is interesting, from the beasts tearing Europe apart to the Gothic novel sending its hero to fight for Enland in America to a poor sick poet's despair. Am also reading Sociopath A Memoir by Patric Gagne to relax.
@@PatriciaCrabtree-wm8xd That may be a very long tag because of all the genres I prejudge. 🤔 (At least I don’t necessarily let my prejudgements dissuade me.)

So interesting! Have you seen “A Bridge to the East” here on TH-cam? An excellent film by and about Runciman
@@lachlangriffiths9434 I’m a third of the way into it now, this it wonderful thank you!

Per my instructions?! 😂 Better you should be instructing me. Gagne’s book looks like it might appeal to me - except it’s a memoir.
@@davidnovakreadspoetry Prejudging a book by its genre sounds like a fun tag for you to invent. Will look to nag you about this in the future.

@@davidnovakreadspoetry I would start with disdopeya.
