This way is good. You can also use 50 lb braid. Stick a screwdriver in for a spacer and use braid to make a soft split-ring. Takes more time, but it'll let the hook twist around completely a couple times, and you can vary how far down you want the hook to hang by using a bigger screwdriver.

Next time you go fishing do it on a weekend mid morning or afternoon evening on a busy lake like I and every other weekend fisherman have to, where rude boaters cut between you and the shore or buzz less than 25 yards away pulling waterskier’s. I’d like to see what technique’s you use and how it works out for you.
Wonder if adding that extra swivel on the nose creates additional noise against the metal ring already fitted? Anyone add a snap swivel to make it easier to change the lures, especially when on a Kayak?
2 things I do: sharpen the hooks. And when I get a strike I count one second and set the hook. After you catch a few doing this you will get the timing down to where it becomes automatic. Set it immediately and you will miss some of them.
Totally depends on what you are throwing. Swings are free so I set the hook immediately. Sometimes the bites are subtle. Wait one second and she will spit it out
STRONGLY suggest a swivel on the front of ploppers. A piece of debris, in the joint will cause the bait to "bind up", and roll, instantly wrecking your line. A quality swivel will alleviate this problem.

That discontinued Strike King Wake Shad are money. The Blanks are available for like $3. (need to be painted, clear coated etc) Real R2S Whopper Ploppers have the sharpest hooks I've ever used. Never change unless broken.

I see fish missing top water often but I land the vast majority of fish that I hook up

You can do that. Using a snap adds more action.
