- A collection of relaxing songs from my favorite game of all time, Mother 3. In case you somehow don't know, Mother 3 is the game Lucas is from (I know, it's crazy, there's more to the character than just spamming PK fire in smash). I've toned down the treble on some of the louder songs in this playlist, so they're perfect for studying, sleeping, uncontrollable sobbing, etc.

My family is essentially gone and shattered. My home no longer feels like a home, my family no longer feels like a family. It’s as if I’m living with strangers. Because of this game, I aspire to be the bestest version of myself possible. After I played this game, it made me nostalgic for what I used to have, that being a happy family. But I’ve moved on, my family is too broken beyond repair. So, I’ve decided I’m going to be the bestest friend. I’m going to provide for my friends what my parents couldn’t. Mother 3 changed me for the worst and for the better. I’m so thankful I’ve played this game tbh. Sorry for like the vent lmao

As a Lucas main, the only times i use pk fire are for combos. And the main reason I main Lucas is because I love mother 3.

Knowing how much Earthbound influenced indie game industry, it makes me wonder: What would've happen if Mother 3 was released outside of Japan?
Probably, just maybe, the Industry would be so drastically different, having so many games who dare go against the action storyline in favor of a more heart hitting story about childhood and how love and lack of it affects you. Many more games would have been made exploring the nature of happiness and the true value in relationships.
This game is a beautiful story about a family, corruption, money, love, and such.
I'm currently at Chapter 7 of this masterpiece and I can say with full confidence that I never felt so included and immersed in a game in my whole life.
Mother 3 really IS the game, I can't believe they made it and nintendo just said "Cool, now forget about it.".
I haven't finished it yet but on my way through I learned alot about love, family, and friends.

Edit 2 months after: I have finished Mother 3. It became one of my favorite games of all times.

In a way it was release, thanks to avid fans and their translation. It noticeable when playing undertale for instance that its tone resembles mother 3 even more so than to earthbound

Man i've played this game 3 times now. I played it first because my first name is Lucas and I kinda look like Lucas lol. Fell in love with it immediately, im so amazed with how good this music is for something that is playable on a gameboy. Really really hope that they will bring it out soon on other consoles. Awesome video thanks so much!

Woahh, this is nearly 5 years old now. I’m so glad that people had inspiration from the game to make content on it and that people mutually enjoy the soundtrack to this day.

i've watched this countless times and for whatever reason decided to only comment just now but still, i have so many memories tied to these songs and just this whole video, it reminds me of times where i could hardly cope with loss and also times when i slept peacefully in a warm bed (and for the longest time i couldn't even sleep without this video), so just genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating something as precious as a special memory in my heart

I first played mother 3 in early middle school. I'm now an adult and everytime I play it it somehow just gets better and better. It was the first piece of media to make me cry.

I finished Mother 3 a month after my dad's death. Every single part about Hinawa made me think of him and it hurt me right in the heart, but I felt relieved knowing I wasn't going through this alone..
The whole game made me think of my life in general, and I'm honestly grateful for the tears this game made me shed. It really helped me get through all of it

This is relaxing only if you haven't played the game
At first upon finding this playlist I was in disbelief trying to understand how all (except maybe 2-3 of these) were supposed to be relaxing, even context-removed from the game. To me they just all carry such weight of melancholy and sorrowful reflection however after returning to it I think there's something to these being relaxing, however in a non-traditional sense. This playlist exudes an unwavering sense of catharsis, pure emotional release, be that sad tears, or just expression of deep feeling internally, it is a cathartic listening experience, and that can be seen as relaxing.
This video is my go to video to cry at, It's so damn impossible for me to not let out tears while listening to this.

The amazing thing about this playlist isn't the music at all, but all the memories and feelings being brought together and added in these comments. To listen to this playlist and read all the nostalgic feelings these songs bring together is somewhat a magical feeling. Hope @sdk the best, for bringing this all together: these people with hope, understanding and going through a hard time with an optimistic view. All this because of the magical memories that a japanese game brought together, changing people for the best, only by pushing a reflection about life and the understanding of happiness and the things going on.

I'm pretty sure that Satie's Gymnopedie no. 1 is royalty-free so its usage in Mother 3 was legal. The only criterion for music on this playlist was that it appeared in the game :)
