  • Reminiscing on the amazing adventures I got to experience with Zach Steele over the years. This is so hard. We’ve traveled to so many beautiful places in such a short amount of time. I met Zach in Vermont 2015 and was blown away how stylish of a cliff jumper he was. We had never seen anything like it. He introduced “Tahoe Steeze” to us all. Early on when everyone was pushing limits with gainers and backflips, Zach was on another axis. When he stood backwards on that cliff, he showed us how cool it was to grab your foot mid air and steeze it out all the way down. We would watch in awe as his trademark long hair of his whips through the air. His style was so unique and timeless. If the word “steeze” is in the dictionary, a picture of Zach’s misty should be front and center. There is a reason why Zach was my go to for being the main drop in most of my edits.
Aside from his legendary footprint in the world of cliff jumping and skiing, Zach was such an amazing and humble person. He was always smiling. Always made us laugh. I have never seen Zach mad. The kind of guy I wouldn’t mind one bit in my truck driving 9 hours straight to scope a new waterfall.
Last time I saw him we briefly reminisced on the Flow State premieres we had in Truckee and in Colorado. He said it was “one of the COOLEST things in his life to ever happen.” He put some emphasis on the word “coolest”. I remember calling Cheyenne shortly after excited to share with her how he said that. The way he worded it will always stick with me.
I hope Zach knew how many people he inspired. Like a musician creating a new genre, he was a pioneer. An absolute staple in the cliff community. All over the world people are grabbing their foot and steezing out Misty’s because of him. Thank you for all the memories @lilzachel.

Met him once about 5 years ago when I was like 13 at sunnyside restaurant in tahoe. He was a bartender. Came up and asked him about the havasupai jump and he was just so chill and friendly. A week later he shot me a dm and invited me out to emerald pools. Such a dope guy.

When I first saw the title of this tribute to say I was shocked is an understatement! It took just a second or two to sink in that what I was seeing was true and that it being a tribute really hit hard! Although I've never met anyone from the cliff jumping scene, by watching the videos year after year in a way you become family. Losing Zach is like losing one of your own, there's disbelief, shock and emotional pain! The one little scene that has always stuck out to myself came from the movie that Colter had engineered, Flowstate! When Zach was being interviewed there was a quote where he half heartily said "I just like to send it" with a neat little smile on his face! Zach is truly a loss to the send it community, he will certainly be missed by many!
I myself for years have been involved in the high speed sport bike scene and have lost many friends who also participated in the same. I have hit the ground at high speeds and have suffered compound fractures. Through it all, we get back up and do it again. I hope that this does not deter anyone from what they enjoy doing, I say that because every time we lose someone, there are others who say, I'm done, not doing that anymore! Our motto like ya'll's is always be safe and of course we realize there is inherent danger in what we do, how ever we can take every precaution that is available and continue to do what we love and you now Zach would say, "lets Send It"!
Colter, keep up the good work, you certainly have an art or feel in how to make incredible video's, people like myself hope you continue for a long, long time because we truly enjoy your finished product. I know it takes you a long time and a lot of man hours to make these incredible videos so again, a big thumbs up to yourself, you deserve it!

Apparently he passed due to a speed flying

Condolences to nick and the other troops of that group. He was a baller on the cliff 🙏
