Lautaro Martinez is a player who literally doesn't have enough respect on his name and outside of Serie A fans, he's not considered as an elite striker. He has been one of the best number 9s in Europe in recent years and is coming off the best season of his career. He had 28 goals in all competitions including 24 goals in Serie A and he won the Golden Boot and player of the season award after helping Inter Milan win the league and you would think that people would start to give him more recognition, see him as a world class striker and put him in Ballon Dor talks, yet he continues to go under the radar. He isn't a on season wonder because he has put up respectable numbers and has been Inter Milan's man man over the years, for some reason he still isn't getting talked about enough and the way he's perceived in the footballing world isn't change no matter how well he plays domestically. He has a bit of inconsistency in his game where he has a period where he can score 8 goals in his last 8 games and then go a full month without scoring and he is a streaky striker, it's a bit like Alvaro Morata. One of the things that has been a growing issue for him in the last 18 months has been his inability to deliver on the big stage at both club and international level. He seems to be a different player in front of a large audience when everyone is watching him. At the 2022 World Cup, he started the tournament as a starter ended it as a sub and in the first 2 games he underperformed got benched by Julian Alvarez someone who isn't even first choice at his club and Argentina went on to win the World Cup and his form with his country has been subpar and it's a stark contrast on how he plays for his club. Some people see him as Gonzalo Higuain 2.0 a player who consistently misses big chances for the national team and he struggled in the champions league final last season and this season, he missed his penalty in the shootout against Atletico Madrid when his team got knocked out of the UCL. That moment shouldn't overshadow the brilliance that he showcased this season because he was the best player on a team that won the league. This has led to people pushing an agenda that he cannot be considered as a world class striker because Martinez has gone missing in a lot of high profile moments and some of his low points have come on the biggest stage in front of the whole world. He crumbles under pressure every time. Meanwhile, when literally nobody is watching him, that's when he's unstoppable and is scoring goals game in game out in Serie A and I don't blame people for not watching the Serie A enough. Going forward for club and country, what he has to do in order to be seen as world class, in big matches he has to be more clinical in front of goal and he has to add consistency to his game as well.
The ballon d`or voters have a massive bias towards Madrid and Barcelona(most winners have played or play at those clubs) and the serie a and bundesliga, do not get the respect in awards like these Lewandowski should have won two ballon d`ors. Throughout his career, he was the best player in the world in 2020 and 2021. one got cancelled(even though the season was just about finished) and he got robbed of it from Messi in 2021.
@@thetruth4654 they have bias in being completely clueless about football, look at the votes from mostly African countries’ journalists, not just them though, but you’ll get a good idea from looking at their votes
one thing people has to realize is this: inter isnt seen as a top club in europe anymore and therefor their players arent seen as top class either, its that simple. their cl final last season? people view it as a surprise visit and thats what it was. no one expected inter to be there and neither have they played football as a top team in europe. tbf tho football at the highest level has become worse, those surprises can happen more often nowadays due to how football has evolved, from teams filled with world class players where young talents had to be really good in order to play from top teams filled with talents and old players that "have to keep up" in order to play. teams now miss consistency tho, mentality. look at dortmund, back in the stronger days of football they wouldve never made a cl final. doesnt matter what team nowadays, put them up against a prime barca, prime milan whatever, they get thrashed. back to inter tho, they were simply a fluke in cl. yes they won their league which isnt easy to do but cl is still the non plus ultra in football and there they didnt come to proof last season .. and lautaro again dumpsterd. hes a good player BUT nowhere near the level mbappe is. and yes i say mbappe because he is without a doubt atleast slightly more talented then haaland is. i wonder tho how real will use let mbappe play. mbappe is really strong cutting in from the left yet thats vinis side. mbappe can also play striker but hes not the classic striker, has less space. in the league it was often enough but on the highest level it will be more difficult. i dont see him coming from the right and neither do i believe rodrygo will play right. its gonna be vini mbappe upfront, bellingham behind them and then three midfielders, most likely tchoua, cama, valverde.
Kinda similar to kane: not very fast but holds the ball well, link up play is good, passing range is good, right and left feet both good. But kane is probably slightly better
Mbappe is best in the world. But Lautaro can compete with Haaland (for me Lautaro is better): football iq: Lautaro; physique/power: Haaland; speed: Haaland; technique/artistry: Lautaro; vision/passing: Lautaro; header: Haalland; long shots: both not super good, but Lautaro more technical; goal scoring: 50/50 in this season (23/24) H: 27/L. M.:24. team trophies: 50/50: 1 vs. 1. leadership: Lautaro (he was captain and key player in his team this season)
He is good, but he has a 3 or 4 month goal drought every season and hasn't been able to find a consistent level. Additionally, he hasn't really performed that well in Big Games for me (I just feel that had Mbappe been playing for inter in the UCL Final, that they would have beaten city and that clearly wasn't the case with Lautaro).
In my opinion the only reason why people are comparing lautaro to mbappe and haaland rn is because they’re held to a higher standard than lautaro. Lautaro is amazing, but there’s no denying that people expect wayyy less from him than mbappe and haaland. Haaland and mbappe will not score for 2 games and instantly be called washed.
both one and the other disappear in important matches, if Lautaro doesn't score he provides assists when he's not in the game. Then it's one thing to play in a team with a billion worth of players and another to play in a team like Inter where half the players buy them for free
What are you talking abt, lautaro is possibly the worst big game player I’ve ever witnessed. Haaland isn’t great but he provides crazy levels of distractions for the defense of his opponents, and Mbappe creates chances but is surrounded by teammates who can’t finish. Lautaro in big games does fuck all. Also you can’t possibly say inter has a better squad than psg. PSG might be more valuable, but that’s because psg is exceptional at inflating the prices of their players but paying ridiculous price tags for all of them.
