Dude...one of the times I was lucky enough to see Dimmu living in Dallas I was shocked to see older dudes (I was 45 at the time!) And they were wearing business clothes. There to see Dimmu. Bro I hope youve listened to their older stuff. The album that has Reptile...yes it has the classic Black Metal production style....but the songs on it will whisk you away to another realm...Reptile...thats the song that I first heard of Dimmu....I was vacuuming my room and on the tv in the living room I had it playing Metal on the satellite. Remember that? But when the chorus came on....ICS Vortex singing about "He who gives me nightly treasures and lets me slip away" in the chorus....i hadnt heard anything like that in my life....blew me way out of the water. That was in 1999. Give that album a good few listenings. Leave it in playing nonstop in car or whatever.

I'm over 50 and generally I don't listen to this genre of metal, I'm more of a old school classic and thrash metal kind of guy, but I do recognize the talent in this band. Very theatrical, maybe a bit bizzare for me, but the arragements and the production are pretty damn good.
rbagel55 It is because these kind of musicians are usually very talented by default since making music that is far from mainstream requires a true dedication and interrest of the genre.
Also, they are doing this from the heart. So much emotion that passes by an untrained ear. Many just think they are angry all the time because of the screaming, but on the contrary they are showing many emotions through the music. And it is (imo) one of the most complete musical genres.

@@NeroNORirl I love all of their albums except for Eonion. If you had said that about Eonion I would most definitely have to agree. We waited what...10...12 years to be disappointed by Eonion? I did 4 years for trafficking from 2007-2011. I already had this album at home but I had to have another copy sent in there & it was definitely one of the albums that helped me through my bit. Technically, we wasn't allowed to have any more than 10 CDs at a time in there. I had 207 by the time I went home. LOL!

"Uhh, I want Vortex, uhhhhh", get over it already. don't get me wrong, I really liked his vocals but I'm glad he left, he got all the credit in every damn song he was in, I got really sick of that, to be honest. I was kinda worried when Vortex left, and he will be greatly missed from the band, but my god, DB keeps pumping out fantastic music, absolutely loved this album :D
The part with the huskies always cracks me up. It's as funny as metal video where a guy is pretending to be in an actual forest but in reality he's recording his video at a park, and the fact gets accidentally exposed for a brief moment without him realizing.
Not to mention: a Norwegian band naming themselves after a place located in Iceland \m/ I've walked through the actual dimmuborgir park and it's pretty cool!

People might not believe it but musicians are ever-evolving in their craft. Band members will come and go and sounds will change. In the end the band will decide what moves THEM musically. That is what makes the musician content - to put out his most passionate and qualitative work.

Dimmu is like wine, it gets better every year! I'm more of a Death Metalhead at first but I love all the bands that have evolution in a proper manner to their music. Of course that Mourning Palace is a masterpiece that we still love, of course that Stormblast was incredible when it came out! BUT Dimmu had the courage and talent to pass from organ sounds (Mustis was a great pianist no doubt) to real orchestra with real chorus and don't think it's an easy thing to put 2 completely different sounds in one song... it's sure that it can't be rearranged in studio and they do it on their shows. Dimmu is part of these bands that created a musical genre and they still are part of the evolution of this same genre.

Jacob Kain Amen, brother \m/ I loved Dimmu's music from the very beginning and can appreciate each offering, as each album is unique in its own way. People might not believe it but musicians are ever-evolving in their craft. Band members will come and go and sounds will change. In the end the band will decide what moves THEM musically. That is what makes the musician content - to put out his most passionate and qualitative work.

Dimmu is like wine, it gets better every year! I'm more of a Death Metalhead at first but I love all the bands that have evolution in a proper manner to their music. Of course that Mourning Palace is a masterpiece that we still love, of course that Stormblast was incredible when it came out! BUT Dimmu had the courage and talent to pass from organ sounds (Mustis was a great pianist no doubt) to real orchestra with real chorus and don't think it's an easy thing to put 2 completely different sounds in one song... it's sure that it can't be rearranged in studio and they do it on their shows.
Dimmu is part of these bands that created a musical genre and they still are part of the evolution of this same genre.
Dark Funeral Cradle Of Filth FleshGod Apocalypse Behemoth & Dimmu Borgir definitely should do a tour together when they can.

This album marked the softening of this band. The loss of vortex and mustis, and the shift in musical arrangement and composition. Lost the edge.
