    Coloradan here doing some research on Alaskan cruises and have been watching this series l.
    20 years ago, I spent 3 weeks traveling across Alaska but wound up closing out my trip with a 4 day stay in Skagway and then I hiked out VIA the Chilkoot trail.
    It's crazy how much of Skagway looks the same in the video. Love that you did the Dewey lakes hike as well.
    Nothing was more fun on Skagway then getting to know the locals. When the cruise ship would blow the last horn for departure at the end of the day, you could stand in the street and hear every shop close their doors at the same time. About 10 mins later, everyone was headed to the Bonanza for happy hour.

      Skagway was probably our favorite stop on the cruise. There is just so much history and beauty. Seems like a town stuck in time which was a breath of fresh air.
      Let us know if you have any questions as you plan your cruise but our opinion is it is 100% worth it.
      Hope you enjoy the series.

      Thanks for watching. We have now done the Bliss and Encore to Alaska and think the encore itinerary is so much better. Know you will have an amazing time! Let us know what your favorite part of the trip was when you get back.

    In Skagway we actually took an excursion by ferry over to Haines where once we went on a nice float down the local river and two other years we went on a jet boat ride on same river up-stream to the Bald Eagle Preserve. Had a campfire at the boat landing and then the about 30 min. ferry back to Skagway. Also did the usual stroll up the road and looked at the better souvenir stores.

      I thought going to Haines would be really nice! I don’t remember seeing that excursion. Did you do that with the cruise line or independently?
      How many times have you been to Alaska?

      It was so much better than we expected. Not as many people did that excursion so it was nice to have a smaller group and actually get to see the town.
      But what really made it was the host. She was amazing and kept you engaged the entire time.

    How long did that hike up to the lake take one way? Would love to do it when I am in port but not sure of the time factor. I don't think I could do the railway, the Red Onion tour and the hike, but I can sure dream big!

    • @lindsayslivealittle
      @lindsayslivealittle  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hike is about 40 min out and 30 min back but that included a bit of filming. You might be able to do all of the above.

    The white pass railroad was the highlight of my trip. I went in 2019 so I was able to go all the way into Canada to the Yukon. DId you film a ship tour?

    • @lindsayslivealittle
      @lindsayslivealittle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is so good to know! It’s on the list for next time we head to Alaska. We didn’t do it because we wanted to explore the town and we were supposed to be doing another big train ride somewhere else!
      I didn’t do a boat tour episode. I show bits of the boat in each episode.
      Honestly if you wanted a boat tour I find Harr travel to have some of the best boat tours!
      Hope you subscribed so you don’t miss any of the Alaska trips!
