Yeah it's very nice. Heck that seems to be the thing with most of the break ups. It isn't that they are bad people or that what either side wants is bad, just that they don't mesh together that well in the end. That they remain friends after is also nice since relationships sometimes get treated as an all or nothing type thing. Nice to see that the end of a relationship doesn't mean an end to being friendly with the other.
He's not a bad guy at all but he's missing out on such a beautiful part of life and has shit reasons for it, but I'm glad she got out of there. There's no point being bf and gf if you're not getting married to have a family.

I think they chose a male vocalist to create a contrast between the cute, high pitched voice of Retsuko vs alternate, metal persona. It’s more for the comedic value, but I believe if the story was about a young office worker wanting to become a vocalist for a metal band then they would have gotten a female vocalist!
Rarecho (the creator) is the metal singer for the Japanese version and actually does a good job at it it’s crazy because he taught himself just for this. I prefer Jamison tho but I like the Japanese version too.
It's cute because, if I'm not mistaken, he did that and for the pilot his wife did Retsukos voice and then she just went on to become the official voice for her. So husband and wife work together to bring her voice to life.
As a girl who’s really girly and loves metal I always loved that she’s both a really feminine girl and has that love of metal and the way she grows through the series. It’s just the best juxtaposition, metal hello kitty 🤘🏻

In the original Japanese, Retsuko's death metal voice is done by the show's writer & director, Rarecho, who is a man. I'm sure the English dub casting was just staying true to the original. I think it furthers the absurdity of Retsuko's dual-face dynamic.
I am a big anime fan, I loved the metal in Aggretsuko, and it opened me into metal in general, I really subbing just to see what new things 2 metalheads who can appreciate anime can share.
That's awesome that Aggretsuko opened you up to Metal! Another reason to love this awesome show. We always recommend a Death Metal band called Arch Enemy to Aggrestuko fans because it has a similar sound to the Death Metal in the show. Listen to "Nemesis" by Arch Enemy and you'll see what we mean. I would also recommend checking out a Japanese Melodic Death Metal Band called Gyze. They released a single a few weeks ago called "Samurai Metal" and it is currently one of my favorites!

Wish they got a Japanese Death Metal artist to do the singing instead of what we got...But I am new to Death Metal so right now testing out the waters...

I had no trouble making out what Retsuko is singing in most songs (I'm like Gori on that one), but thanks for including the subtitles to her singing for people who can't. Lord knows my friends couldn't understand a single word. Also, that 'we deserve a vacation' song is my achilles heel, I could never make out what she was singing in between 'lightning grant me some vengeance' and 'strike them down'. I legit thought the first like was 'cry me some vengeance' for the longest time!

It’s a Chinese bank, so it was for Youth Day. Eleven competitors, including me. Most people sang Chinese language songs. Others sang Nirvana, Taylor Swift, and Backstreet Boys. I sang “The Quest and the Curse” by Delain. I won third place.
'I don't listen to metal in the bathroom at work, but, after this video? I just might!' I work at a super store where most of my night shift consists of me scrubbing shitty bathrooms, wherein I am constantly *BLASTING* heavy metal shit.* *A night doesn't go by without Dio, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, W.A.S.P., Blind Guardian, Stryper, or Motorhead bouncing off a bathroom's walls. I think they used a male singer in the English dub because the creator and his wife were the original voices for Ritsu when he first made it. Maybe it was an omash to him. He did the metal in Japanese for her.

When this first came out I was 25 and worked for my grandma who was an accountant. I also can't stand idiots and jerks, I could never work customer service. So Aggretsuko was relatable. Even though as the plot developed and she decided she wanted to get married and have kids and I don't, I still relate. Also that she is cute and sweet but with a heavy darker side; I love cute dresses and stuffed animals and my room is currently pastel pinks and blues with Pusheen, but I also love camping and medieval fantasy and just a massive nerd/geek, I do archery and am interested in learning to sword fight, and I like hard rock from like the 80s and such

I have to ask: have you guys ever seen or heard of Detroit Metal City? It’s another anime about this sweet guy who just wants to write happy pop songs. But he’s cast as like the most vile disgusting monster metalhead in existence and he’s great at his job. And he wants to be a normal guy but his metal alter ego tends to pop out at bad times and ruin his life. Look up Raping Tokyo Tower for an example.
I think people from all walks of life can just relate to Retsuko's feelings on certain aspects of life. That's what makes it so enjoyable to watch, partnered with the humor of such a tiny, polite, quiet panda harboring the soul of a death metal god. 😅
I love that you mention how they could have used a female metal vocalist, and listed off some very talented ones, but also said that it might have been a style choice. I hadn't thought of that but you may be right. Could still have used Tatiana from Jinjer and had that shock value but Jamison does some pretty great work here.

I didn't even know season 3 was out!! I was so sad for Retsuko at the end of the last season since she genuinely was invested in that relationship.

I saw Retsuko do her thing before... And... I can't over her. She's AMAZING, AWESOME, THE BEST OF ALL. And this episode of this metal show (first I see), very good, man.
I think they used a male singer in the English dub because the creator and his wife were the original voices for Ritsu when he first made it. Maybe it was an omash to him. He did the metal in Japanese for her.
I was telling my friend about this show today. She hadn't heard of it but she was laughing and said, "She kinda sounds like your spirit animal." I mean... not wrong! This was a great commentary, by the way. I've never seen this channel before, but you guys are a lot of fun and I was laughing through the whole video.

When this first came out I was 25 and worked for my grandma who was an accountant. I also can't stand idiots and jerks, I could never work customer service. So Aggretsuko was relatable. Even though as the plot developed and she decided she wanted to get married and have kids and I don't, I still relate. Also that she is cute and sweet but with a heavy darker side; I love cute dresses and stuffed animals and my room is currently pastel pinks and blues with Pusheen, but I also love camping and medieval fantasy and just a massive nerd/geek, I do archery and am interested in learning to sword fight, and I like hard rock from like the 80s and such

After Season 3 I realized that Aggretsuko it's a Superior Anime, the most human inhuman sht ever done by fvcking Sanrio!!!

It’s another anime about this sweet guy who just wants to write happy pop songs. But he’s cast as like the most vile disgusting monster metalhead in existence and he’s great at his job. And he wants to be a normal guy but his metal alter ego tends to pop out at bad times and ruin his life.

I love that you mention how they could have used a female metal vocalist, and listed off some very talented ones, but also said that it might have been a style choice. I hadn't thought of that but you may be right. Could still have used Tatiana from Jinjer and had that shock value but Jamison does some pretty great work here.
