    The Cybertruck was revealed back in 2019 and now just a bit over 4 years later, customer deliveries of the truck have officially begun. While the truck overall stayed true to the prototype design and has been receiving quite a few positive reviews, there are quite a few changes from the original prototype. In this video I discuss what Tesla promised vs what they delivered.

      One thing you have missed is the bed at the reveal had T type tie downs for the length of the bed. Granted, they have put a tie down rail on each side of the vault but i thought the original idea was a lot more functional. I can guess why they didn't use that design because it originally looked like the T channels were milled into the bed. Much cheaper now to just have a stamped steel bed.

    As someone in the trades, it makes a lot of sense that Tesla did not provide a compressed air port. The compressor needed for the suspension is small, and using it to provide air for tools or other uses would necessitate a larger compressor, thus adding weight, shortening service life, and adding cost to the vehicle for people who may never use a compressor. Better to purchase the compressor sized for your equipment needs, and use the power outlet to run it.

    • @kadmow
      @kadmow 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      - the addition of air port would be nice simply to allow OEM ability to inflate or deflate tyres at will without needing an HF Accessory (As a tradesperson - you know that the real compressor lives in the trailer, not the bed of the "boss's - fake tough-truck)....

    If Tesla fans were being honest they'd admit that Tesla has really whiffed on this.
    While they've added a bunch of little fripperies, this is a truck and the only real important things are price, range and payload/towing. They've massively underperformed on ALL of these key measures, almost across the entire lineup. Pretty much the only key specs met were range & towing for the two lower specs.
    - Prices are up; 53%, 60% and 43% (and no, "inflation" doesn't cut it,.. 3/Y/S/X are pretty much as low as they were then, or lower!)
    - Payload is down 30% across the board
    - Tri-Motor Range is down 44% and towing is down 22%
    When you're missing your key metrics by 50%, you've done messed up.

    Let's be real ever since the 4680 ramp delay and lackluster 4680 model Y test result, we all know that the promised specs and price at launch would not be close to the reality. That is not a problem if they can actually ramp up the production as there will still be enough demand just for the novelty factor alone. But if say by mid 2024 they still can't deliver it in thousands per month, then it would indeed be a fail.

      Time will tell Tesla is running more and more lines in the 4680 factory to get more. I’m not sure how many each line can make, it’s not a lot. Tesla is having major issues making 4680’s.

      And look at just how much battery they didn't manage to fit under the CT, with the 4680. How did Ford manage to fit the same capacity LFP battery under the lightening and have room for a spare wheel? And look at the size of the 50kwh. range extender. None of it screams 10% more energy density and greater volumetric efficiency to me.
      I look forward to the day when we see this product independently tested.

      I for one am very disappointed in the price and range of this truck. I do not need a performance truck! I want a great work truck! Much of the expense is incurred by the drive by wire system and 48-volt systems architecture. I do not care about it because it does not make it a better truck. If these innovations made it less expensive to make and added to the utility of this truck then great. But now I am being asked to pay a premium for features I did not want and for a battery, the AT has yet to perform as they (tesla) want it or need it to. This battery tech was supposed to be way ahead of where it is now. I am sure that in the future the 4680 will become better, but it seems to be the most at fault for why these are as expensive and range-limited as they are. Again I remain very disappointed having waited 4 years.

    Since this truck is basically a lifestyle vehicle, someone in the aftermarket world will need to design a removable swingarm in the back that'll hold a spare tire, a gas generator, and about 10 gallons of fuel. It needs to be easily removeable because it won't be needed 95% of the time. But when someone plans to go offroad, simply attach the swingarm on to the back. A generator will be needed as a range extender because the electric range alone isn't enough for offroad.

Are you claiming that the range is so good that people are not going to need a generator/range extender? Or that it's silly to bring a spare tire when going deep in the backcountry? I'm assuming you don't have much backcountry offroad experience, so you don't realize what happens to your range when going offroad. It'll be a fraction of what's reported. Also, many backcountry offroad adventures that people like doing are multiply days. Places like the Maze in Canyonlands is what come to mind. Good luck finding a supercharger there.

    I am far from a Tesla fanboy but follow the company nonetheless. I keep seeing that "promises" were broken. But, is that REALLY the case. Or, is there a concerted effort to keep this guy down? What a company who is re-inventing the pickup expects, hopes, wants dreams that will be the final product is not a "promise".

    The CT bed length depends on where you measure. Along the floor it is 72.08”. You go up a foot off the floor and it is about 66”. So the bed is not a true 6’ bed. If you took a 6’ long box that was 18 inches tall it would not fit into the bed. You would have to lower the tailgate.

    • @dvader3263
      @dvader3263 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Carry the 6 foot or 9 foot long box with the tailgate in the lowered position. Then tie it down.
      That's what millions of pickup truck owners have been doing for the last 100 years.
      8 foot or 10 foot lumber, posts, boards and sheet material can be carried in a short bed truck with the material resting on the top of the closed tailgate.
      Otherwise, lower the tailgate, slide in your sheetrock or plywood, strap in the back end of the material with a couple of tie-downs and off you go.
      People do this with pickups every day in America.
      If you've owned and actually used a truck, you wouldn't have made such a comment.

    The over promises and under deliveries are a bummer, but I still think it’s chock full of hi-tech and will sell at these prices to “early adopters” as did the car models. Tesla undoubtedly will lower prices as demand slows next year and will attract back some of the previously dismayed customers. I expect Tesla has a few rabbits in the form of tech advances in their hat to pull out, but don’t know what they could be, other than range and/or power boosts and maybe stronger glass. Supply chain issues, available battery technology as well as the time and effort Elon and his people expended, was worth the wait. 48Volt tech, Ethernet communication, 4 wheel steering, steer by wire capability and bi-directional charging are items not identified in the original reveal in 2019. I personally a very grateful for the leading edge technology that comes with the Cybertruck. Biased analysis. Start off by minimizing the pre to post is putting people's bias for what you are about to say instead of letting the audience formulate their own. For cost you forgot to mention that on top of increased prices, you must add-in additional $20k they are charging for their so called founders addition. I order the tri-miter in 2019 for $79k and receive the email to purchase this for $119k. My AMGs are way better on every thing this has to offer and if tesla wants to charge more they have to compete with everything in that price category. For instance, if a Volt cost $30k and then it went to $70k (this is the increased cost jump like Tesla is doing for founders addition) then someone that was looking to purchase a Volt now is looking at all the other cars in that $70k range and wondering why buy a Volt.
