- This video explains every Attack Titan in the Attack on Titan anime and manga. The Attack Titan is one of 9 titan shifters in AOT and there have been several iterations of it throughout the series. In the AOT manga we have currently seen more Attack titans than in the anime, which has had 3 Attack Titans so far (Eren Kruger, Grisha Yeager, Eren Yeager). The manga displays Attack Titans of the past, some of which have interesting designs. This video will explain the backstory of all Attack Titans (that we know of) and also commentate on the designs of the ancient titans.
The Attack has a unique history when compared to the other shifters.

In this video I’m gonna explain every Attack Titan in the history of attack on titan, ranging from nearly 2000 years ago all the way up till the present day of the series. The Attack Titan has a unique history. Not only is it possessed by Eren Yeager who is the main character, but this titan has historically been held by people seeking freedom. The original Japanese title for Attack on Titan is shingeki no kiyojin, which is also the name of the Attack titan. This means the series is named after this titan shifter specifically.
The first attack titan on this list is Eren Kruger. Eren Krugers father decided to join the eldian restorationists but Eren himself just being a regular eldian child who was born in Marley. After Eren Kruger's family was killed by Marley, Kruger swore that one day he would get revenge and restore Eldian empire. The first step in his plan would begin years later, when he met a doctor living in Marley, who was secretly an eldian. They helped Kruger to falsify his medical records and in the process Eren was then able to pretend to be a Marlyean. Kruger used his new Marlyean status to join the Marlyean public security authority. In the year 817, Grisha and Faye Yaeger left the Liberio internment zone to try and see an airship but Krueger noticed them and asked for their exit permits. Two years after that incident, Eren Krueger would inherit the attack titan. Using an alias known as the owl, he founded a new underground restorationist movement, with eldians being recruited all across Liberio. Given that Krueger worked with the Marlyean authorities, he had secret info that he would filter down to the new eldian restorationists. On one occasion he sent Grice to recruit Grisha to the organisation. Kruger had a high ranking position within Marley by his adulthood and planned to use his authority to pull some strings and ensure Zeke became a warrior, however the kid betrayed the restorationists and had Grisha sent to Paradis (along with the others). The Owl revealed his identity and passed the attack titan to grisha.
The next ATTACK TITAN is Grisha Yaeger. Grisha had always suspected that Faye’s Yeager’s death was suspicious and because Eren Kruger was colleagues with the guy that killed her, he had always known the truth. When Grisha found out what really happened to his sister he vowed to destroy Marley and restore eldia. When Dina Fritz joined the group, it was Grisha that suggested the plan to take the founding titan from paradis island and return it to the true royal family. After they had Zeke, Grisha made the terrible mistake of treating the boy as a tool rather than a son and he was so focused on his goal of restoring eldia, that he never made time to be a real father. By indoctrinating Zeke to become the saviour of Eldia, he inadvertently made the same mistake that his own father did and paid the price by being sent to Paradis. Having then received the power of the attack titan from Kruger, he was able to run towards the walls and was eventually picked by Keith Shadis, who at the time was a young member of the survey corps. Despite his mission to retake the founding titan, Grisha made sure not to repeat the same mistakes he made with Zeke and he spent quality time with Eren whenever he got the chance, allowing the child to just be himself. On one occasion Grisha stole a map that lead to the address of the Reiss chapel.
The attack titan has a special ability, which is future memory inheritance. Grisha Yeager described it as the ability to know the future and we first saw this power on display during season 3.
Criteria to be the Attack Titan:
1) Seek freedom
2) Have strong protagonist energy
3) Have close family die in tragic circumstances

I have a little thought, what if The Female Titan's original name was suprised to be the "Combat Titan". It would be a clever parallel to the Attack Titan, but after fans kept calling it the female titan it just stook

Season 5 will be announced in the future. In season 5 we will see titan animals. Titan bulls, tigers, even dinosaurs will make an appearance and they will become titans as well. Multiplying the size of the dinosaurs. The t-rex will be roughly 5x its normal size while as a titan. And the colossal t rex will be 30x its size.

Nooo a character can't be the protagonist and the antagonist at the same time, the protagonist is the one the story revolves around it and the antagonist is the one who opposes the protagonist, for example a villain could be the protagonist and the hero could be the antagonist. In this case, i think you mean he is the hero and the villain. I believe he is an antiheroe someone who does things that are morally questionable to accomplish a means to an end.

Eren k and Grisha's backstories are great examples of why I'll never feel bad for marleyans
You see tho. If you saw the back stories of the Marleyans. You would probably have mixed feelings about eldians and probably understand why they treated eren k and grisha like that. And that is why I love this show it’s deadass hard to choose sides their both fucked up

Assuming Historia's father wasn't lying about the Grisha fight , he stated that the founding titan was stronger but the attack titan was more experienced . That is why i believe Grisha had to fight off some titans in his trip towards Paradisa .

@clockoff94 Zeke and Eren went into Grisha's memory and Zeke realises that Eren actually manipulated Grisha in killing the Reiss to steal the Founding Titan.
Let me explain better, since the final trailer is already aired.
(One of Erens Titan power is that he can show previous Inheritors what The Future looks like. In Grisha's memory, Eren was able to show Grisha specific memories from the future. Those memories were what triggered Grisha in stealing the Founding Titan from the Reiss)
Tis like a spoiler, so it's all I would say.
One thing to note though: Back when Eren first learned about Grisha killing the whole Royal family with Titan power, he had a lot of disbelief in his eyes as he knew his father is not someone who is capable of killing any men, let alone children, and so there must be more story behind it that led to Grisha's action. Over the time skip between end of season 3 and start of season 4 Eren was able to have more and more grasp of his power and eventually worked about how the ability to see future works for all Attack Titan users: the future successors get to choose which memory they want their predecessor to see. This is how past Attack Titan users always managed to constantly stay one step ahead and avoid a lot of the potential crisis including having the titan power stolen by Marleyans. And thus instead of calling Attack Titan's power "the ability to see the future", it's more like successors from the future using their memories to influence the past, and thus gurantee that the choices their predecessors make will eventually leading themselves to become the successors. However, Eren realized he could do something more with this power, and so he made his father (in the past) seeing him (in the future) talking about the necessity of wiping the royal family, and eventually being persuaded to do so. One condition to note that in order to use memories of current user to influence past users, they must be ale to figure which memories did they make their predecessors see that led to their action (from Eren's point of view, Grisha killing the royal family has already happened, but Eren doesn't know the motivation and cause, and so he must figure it out on his own and it requires a lot of deduction).
So, is it correct to say that Eren directed the whole story?

@@giovannicosta8103 Eren isn't controlling the future. He's controlling the past from the future by working out the cause of the events that has already happened (such as why Grisha decided to kill the royal family).

Future memory inheritance sounds like the most overpowered way to change the past. You say the 'ghosts' can't interact with the past but they kinda do if they can choose what memories to send back to who they send them to. It's not changing the past it's sending memories that shouldn't exist to the past. I think the attack titan wins with that power alone. That's like if One for All users could send messages to the past users. I don't hate the idea but you know he is the main character if he has that kind of power.
Yeah it is pretty op. The fundamental rule is still that the ‘ghosts’ can’t change anything, it’s just that future memory inheritance is a clever way (and the only way) to circumvent that rule

The future memory ability is more like a self fullfilling prophesy power. You can't use the memories of the future to change the present, you can only use them to ensure the path of the future.
In the Manga, Grisha was screaming to Eren about how did it and that he killed everyone EXCEPT Rod Reiss.
Meaning that Eren told him to do this, so that Rod would try to capture Eren in the future, which lead to Eren discovering the hardening ability
I don’t really like that ability, it kind of takes away from character’s free will and makes it so no actions matter since it’s all on a preset path.

There is a theory I saw, that the reason why the Attack Titan is always moving forward towards freedom, is because Eren has been influencing all wielders the moment the Ymir's power was split into 9, so basically, Eren doesn't want freedom because of his titan, but that all wielders want freedom because of Eren

Crazy to think that I used to think titans were either created by the king of the wall who wanted to keep everyone inside or an evil Wizard from outside the wall. They explained in the beginning that humanity outside the wall was wiped out and I was led to believe it which goes to show how perspective works. This show is amazing.
When Kruger tells Grisha “you must see this through if you want to save Mikasa and Armin” it wasn’t from future Grisha memories it’s from Eren and he’s most likely referring to the rumble
But did he receive those memories directly from eren or did he saw it in the memories of grisha that eren sent to grisha
The very first Attack titan might be influenced by Eren through past memories to move forward leaving his will of freedom through generations

So yeah, Eren using the Founding Titan power to send back certain memories of him to all the past Attack Titan shifter so all of them will continue to fight for freedom no matter the era.

What TNO said makes sense, if the Attack Titan did have the power to see the future, whoever possesses the founding titan (and is also royal blood, like Frieda) should know about that, since they can see all the memories of the past holders and at one point the founder had all the 9 titan powers (Ymir Fritz). Frieda was about to say AT being able to see the future shouldn't be possible but Grisha cuts her off. Grisha says that the attack titan can see the future and has always fought for freedom, but both are those are because of Eren, the seeing future thing is because Eren has sent his own memories to most past attack titan users using the FOUNDING TITAN while on his way on the rumbling with the help of the paths while connected to Zeke (royal blood). And since time in Paths is different than time in the real AOT world, he could have easily influenced every past attack titan user within an hour or so in real time. And the attack titan has always fought for freedom also because of Eren, because he influenced the past users by sending his own memories and showing them things convenient to Eren so they do certain things that Eren wants them to which creates a chain of events that would lead them to the current day, it's a closed time loop. The time power is interesting because technically there’s a very clear loophole to any person with the attack titan to manipulate the past to a degree. Unless things are already set in stone in this world

I think you explained the future memory inheritance perfectly. Its not so much that Eren and Zeke were interacting with Grisha right then and there, but Grisha was reliving Eren's future memories simultaneously. Great video!
Mana spoiler part: You can also keep in mind when Eren kissed Historian’s hand he got a flashback to killing the royal family so technically there was Grisha seeing through Erens eyes convincing him to help hi commit mass genocide and then there was younger Eren watching through geishas eyes too.

This makes me wonder if the reason why all of the Attack Titans throughout history were known to fight for freedom and rebellion was because maybe Eren put his own will into all of them in the past and possibly future. Like when he was telling himself in the mirror “fight fight fight,” maybe he was giving this memory to all of the Attack Titans since he can choose which memories past users can see. But I could be wrong, I’m not sure
That's actually very possible, but I guess it depends on how far any memory can be sent back. Alternatively, I would like to know if, instead of being something ordinal, future memory inheritance were something like the diffusion of sound, potentially going back ad infinitum but getting fainter the farther it goes.

Idk which is strongest attack titan, since Eren Y. showed strength when lifting the boulder and Eren K. lifted the boat on his first time shifting, and Grisha Y. Wrecked the founding titan. All of them showed immense strength so it's hard.
Eren Yeager lifted both boulder and Marleyn ship and ofcourse Eren Yeager is the strongest because of he's good at hand to hand combat

grisha's attack titan looks like a bit of beast titan bcoz he was turned into a titan with xaver's spinal fluid so he has some features of the beast titan. Remember falco's jaw titan had the ability to fly? it was because he was turned into a titan using zeke's spinal fluid which gave him the ability to fly like the beast titan in the past.

My theory for the anime of that when eren went beserk his eyes went blue suggesting a use of the founding titan in some way only seen in the anime.

I feel like every user of the attack titan can see future memories like Grisha states to Frieda. Eren received the founding titan from Grisha and, combined with the attack titans power to see into memories, he was able to send things to the past and dictate everything. This is the first time that the founding titan and its abilities have ever been with someone other than the royal family. I think eren is the only user that has ever been able to send memories back for past attack titan users, due to him having the founding. Eren has literally done this with the help from ymir.... And it all started and was hinted at from day one "to you, 2000 years from now".
I remember when this show first came out I was a little child and thought this show was weird well now this show is one of if not the greatest show of all time the writing is 100/10 literally like no plot holes and almost everything that happens at a earlier times end up being a key. Part in the story later
