8:02 It's the biggest hole inside Helldivers 2... until the whole community sees there's a new mission that lets you drill a hole into the complete darkness with a nuke. Still, records are meant to be topped and broken.
Assuming the 500kg bombs use a stronger explosive then TNT, (we will assume COMP-B, since it’s common in ordnance today with equivalency of 1.33) we get 106,400kg of tnt equivalent. This is roughly equal to 10 MOABs or little less than half of the PEPCON plant disaster in 1988
@@frankcasella423 very true I was just trying to keep it simple. I can’t remember off the top of my head but modern 500kg bombs have only around 200kg of explosive filler. Also in a futuristic, hyper-militaristic society you’d imagine they’d develop some crazy powerful explosive
If you go out of bounds for more than ten seconds your supersdestroyer will fire 380mm munitions at you in a predictable pattern. Maybe you could dig a deeper/bigger hole with that?
Ideas if you want to try for an even bigger hole: 1. Start on elevated terrain. You'll get more room before you hit the floor 2. Use explosive weapons and your grenades and see if they contribute much while strategems are on cooldown. Maybe even use the infinite grenade glitch if that's not patched. 3. Use more stratagems. I saw a lot of "wasted" picks that can't damage terrain.
We are going to look into starting on high ground and see if anything comes of it. And one thing that did get cut from the video is we tested with a few other things, including the precision airstrike which I thought would be perfect to spam between 500kgs but it actually has no tangible impact on deformation. 500kg was far and away the most efficient that we found.
@@defendthehouse I think the precision strike does deform the ground. Not to the extent the 500kg does, but with it's accelerated cooldown, you should be able to get it to "hole" more instead of circle crater. But the precision strike and all 3 orbital bombardments deform the ground. It just isn't concentrated at all. If you want a WWI No-Man's land, use the barrages. If you want a hole, the 500kg and precision are probably what you're wanting. An idea you should probably test out because I've been trying to play around with it and I've not seen any kind of results. Arrowhead neutered the Eruptor due to it's shrapnel, however I don't think shrapnel was the issue, it was the fact that it was the Eruptor being a gun and it essentially shotgunning shrapnel from the bullet, which might have miscalculated the shrapnel as both shrapnel and Eruptor bullet. I've been testing this with the frag grenade because that also has shrapnel. If what they were saying about the Eruptor's shrapnel was true, I should be seeing similar things with the frag grenade. So far I haven't gotten 1 shot from an invisible force. I haven't taken damage out of no where after 1 exploded. I can see the shrapnel generally as white streaks. So when they say "shrapnel was invisible and dealing more damage than it should." I'm testing to see if they're talking about shrapnel hard stop or shrapnel (from the Eruptor because it was a gun and the ricochet mechanic was added janking things up.) The tests are basically can you 1 shot chargers with a well timed frag grenade and if you throw a frag grenade onto like a tank or a hulk onto the armor, are you going to get killed by invisible shrapnel moving at the speed of light?
In order to increase the depth, you can pair the orbital precision strike with 500kg bombs. And in between cooldowns the eruptor might be a useful weapon to dig holes with
Once had a high value asset defence where we had shelled so many mortars using sentries the area looked like trench warfare took place there. Foxholes everywhere.
It actually looks like the devs did something interesting in how the 'hole' is made. It really looks like you went down just a little ways then hit a water mesh, but apart from that no further excavation was really gained, it terraformed new ground up all around the area, just to make it 'look' deeper, but it actually got significantly taller than deep it seems like? Something I'd try is overlay an 'x' shape on the deeper ring it makes, not put 4 fresh 500kgs on those spots and see if the center region between them all dents sharply inward.
Digging a hole with grenades or the crossbow or the eruptor before activating the exfil terminal can actually be a really good strat for laying down defensive fire against the automatons without exposing yourself to get shot, just stand up and shoot, then crouch and reload, repeat. This, of course, doesn't work on terminid planets, because instead of slow-moving and firing back like the bots, they just run up and swarm you.
@defendthehouse you can make a bigger hole with grenade launcher, saw a youtuber doing mythbusting on a hulk with grenade laucher accidently find this... the hole was to deep it compleletly hid the hulk with an extra meter or 2 on top
We are going to be doing a follow up video based on everyone’s great suggestions. Did some tests recently and the results were fun. Might be a bit due to continued irl shenanigans but Big Hole V2 will come!
0:34 with most of the high explosive strategems (anything that can destroy a fabricator), they make a deep enough hole with one blast that you can prone and get about half cover. useful when youre fighting bots in an open field, such as on desert or snow planets
I discovered just how dynamic the ground deformation was when me and a random squad full of 380's and 120's (it was a 120mm kill daily mission I believe) turned the base entrance into the surface of the moon.
My friends and I had noticed the terrain deformation when the erupter came out and just dug trenches all around extracting which really makes me wish we had like a construction kit secondary or similar
These aren't TNT. They explode like tactical nukes, but that's not what 500kg of nuclear material looks like when it goes boom. Idk what these are 500kg of, but it's no explosive we know about.
Wonder if doing at low level is hitting the bottom of the map. Try on a mountain, also those 500's seem to lift the center a little . Maybe alternate 500's with precision strikes?
Hi defendthehouse. It's me again. So remember when I asked when the mw3 scorestreaks was gonna come out? Well know I probably know why it's not out yet. Because mw3 is still making scorestreaks/killstreaks. I don't know if they finished the killstreak/scorestreak menu or not but we'll only know when new scorestreaks stop getting added into the game. But recently the game got some new scorestreaks. Like a UAV strike thingy where you send a target location and then a UAV with weapons comes in. You can make it do 3 strikes by pressing the square on PlayStation or Xbox. There is also another scorestreak basically like the other one but it's like the 2011 mw3 Reaper scorestreak. I forgot the scorestreaks name. But I'll edit the comment when I found out what their names are. Edit: alright so I got the names of the recently added scorestreaks 1. Loitering munition 2. Missile Drone (basically like the loitering munition but it's remote controlled, doesn't fly low to the ground and shoots missile from the air) 3. I.M.S 4. Juggernaut recon. I may have forgotten some but this comment will update if more scorestreaks get added to the game
I don't believe it's something that can be calculated, the explosive force that is. We don't know what is in the 500kg bombs and each explosive material gives a different energy yield when detonated. Like the kind of energy you get from conflagrating 500kg of blackpowder is very different from 500kg of C4, RDX, or HMX going off. Both will go boom, but the latter 3 will release all of that energy off faster and in a greater quantity than blackpowder can manage as it burns rather than explodes. So not knowing the actual contents of what is in the 500kg, it's very difficult to say what kind of yield that amount of ordnance actually would amount to in terms of weight of TNT equivalence without actually outright doing calculations assuming what could be the boom-material in those.
I had no idea there was even terrain deformation in the game :S seems kind of pointless cuz it doesn't really play much of a role. like if we didn't realize it was in the game....

You could maybe use the SEAF Artillery (Explosive, High-Yield and Mini Nuke) tac objective for a larger hole?
