Think about this. Haley performed "Creep" in one take, which is amazing. This, however, is even more amazing. She is a walk on, no different than an open mic night. But, she is walking on to sing with a Grammy winning trumpet player and his band. And, with about 2 minutes of discussing how to do the song, she absolutely kills it and impress Irvin to the point of him having her sing with his band at Carnegie Hall in NYC. She is a force of nature.

Casey became a Haley fan early in Season 10 and this just shows the character of this talented young man. To selflessly film this entire performance and upload it for all to enjoy shows the depth of his affection for Lady Reinhart. Of course Casey always came across as genuine, talented and likeable...this just shows how much class he really has.
Watching Irvin Mayfield's first time reactions is priceless. 6 years later and watching her perform a couple hundred songs live since, Irvin & I are still blown away.
I never tire of her singing. I have never been a fan of any singer in particular, until her. She just stole my heart away from the first time I heard her. Her appreciation of music is such a wonderful quality in a singer of her age. She is loved by people of all ages. She is my all time favorite singer.
Haley will become one of the iconic stars. We didn't hear and see yet the best of her. She continues constantly to grow artistically. It is what great artists do and Haley is one of them.

She slips up on stage casually talking with the band and then proceeds to effortlessly produce some of that smokin Haley magic. Another delicious appetizer on the way to the main course...arriving soon hopefully.
My daily silent prayer is Please God, Give her a hit song. I would love to see her tear the charts up the first time out. I think she always knew she could really sing, but I think now she knows she capable of more than she knew. When I heard her do Deedle Blues, Lovefool, Oh Darlin, Night and Day, I knew she was going to be one of the greats. People don't sing like her anymore and thats what music today is lacking.
I was there! And unfortunately had to sing after her! I was sooo ready to go home! But the best part of this video is that this is ALL ON THE FLY!!! She and Casey just happened to come in to the Playhouse that night. So no previous rehearsals... JUST RAW!

Those of us who have followed Haley from the beginning, or any new 'Halien' (e.g. hooked on Haley, addicted to Haley, etc, etc) are NOT surprised by anything she does vocally. What is truly fun to watch is how many times Irvin Mayfield shakes his head in AWE. What a compliment, and an affirmation that our love her her is well-placed!!!

I've watched this several times and like everything else I've seen of hers it just gets better each time.This is about as un Idol of a setting or performance that you can imagine but Haley shows that she's just as effective at a slow burn like this as she is letting it all hang out on the Idol stage. The back and forth with Irwin at the end is just priceless.

One important skill it to recognize when a teammate has the hot hand, and hand the ball off. Hat's off to MW for doing that--it's a sign of generosity and musicianship. BTW--Mayfield, at about 7:33, gives Haley the same (approving) nod as the backup singer gave her in Rolling in the Deep (on that stupid TV show).
