Tomlinson ain't been the same since they moved into that bigger building.
Stop with the motion sickness inducing effects.
It would be nice if we could see and read the captions under some of the pics. Many were out of frame, scrolled past, or disappeared in seconds.

Grew up in Bridgeport on the East End. Thank you for sharing this. It’s great to see the old days.
I grew up in the Valley (Seymour & Ansonia), but have maby , many find memories of family gatherings at SeaSide Park when I was young.
Spellcheck: "many"
@@JohnKSedor yep seaside is bport crown jewel
There are many, many good things that could be done in Bridgeport, and it has such a rich history, including famous people such as PT Barnum and Gustave Whitehead, who flew 2 years before the Wright Brothers in Bridgeport in 1901, and possibly earlier. Much of the hold back on Bridgeport, being the large landowners, who kept the abandoned factories & slums in place, hoping for a 'score' in Real Estate are now passed away. Hopefully the people in charge don't get lost in Multi Million Dollar studies that will never materialize, but guide Bridgeport through achievable goals that everyone can see within a short period of time for each one. It can be done and not get lost in politics which has hampered Bridgeport.
My great great grandfather was Ives & Blakekee’s first partner in the 1870’s. But he died unexpectedly young in 1878.

Gangs. These days
Sad but still have more better thoughts of bport here 😪 maybe 1 day it could resolve itself ...hopefully
Enjoyed seeing some of the things/areas I grew up with - thanks. Suggestion: going forward it would really add a lot to video if you were able to label/research photos when possible, i.e. location, name of place/building, etc. Example; there was a strip center shown with an anchor building that was "Woolworths" - it looked like, what, as a kid we called "Brookside" shopping center, on N. Main by Trumbull.........but since it wasn't labeled - I'm not sure.
Glad u enjoyed thanks for suggesting
My dad had an accounting business on State Street for many years, and we would visit former clients on Saturdays either to help with taxes, or just social visits. He had many former clients he cherished as close friends because that's the kind of guy he was. Learned much from the "old timers", and now I am one of them. One was Gus Kuhn of Kuhn's Corner fame on Black Rock Turnpike. Deep fried Hummel hot dogs !
The fried hotdogs are a staple the best ! I love you sharing that nice story ❤ hope and glad that these pictures give good thoughts and memories ❤
Growing up there, decades ago, sadly despite an occasional "bright spot" here and there, the city continues to rot away despite great location and resources. Corruption? Mismanagement? Crime? All of the above? Whatever it is, it has certainly prevented this city from achieving its full potential. Like so many others, I left a long time ago.
Well I have hope things turn around now they have. A lot of investors pooling money and new management in the city every year now its really changing im hoping for the better they have a lower crime rate now bit they still working on corruption still i see a change happening just hope
❤❤
I MISS HOME
I hope you enjoy the pictures so much has changed here
i was born in bridgeport 1956. brings back what was here ! back then! still live here today a lot has changed !
Yep that's what I said a lot has changed i wish the mayor would have kept some places for history value but I guess the game don't work that way
I live in Florida now I wish I could live in Bridgeport ,my home town .
Well I hope you enjoy all the pictures 📷 and if you would like to share comment 😊 your stories would be great! Glad u enjoy the pictures

It is my most favorite city in Connecticut. I was born in Bridgeport in 1976.
Love it hope you subscribe and share also ck out 5he Facebook and Instagram pages
My grand mother worked at Levite’s department store downtown my mother and I use to walk from our house on black rock avenue to there all the time down park to seaside park to I’ve loved Bridgeport area my whole life and always will always feel. Like I’m home when I visit there
That's a good feeling I remember when I was little everybody walked to most places here cause the city was quite small and easy to walk to where you gotta go was nice to see the neighborhood met people but now all the ppl are strange and sit in cars all day 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆! Glad u like the pictures
Born at St. V's July 14 1961,. I live in South Carolina now, however, I love Bridgeport and always have. The one building I recognize that gave me the goose bumps was CONTI'S, at Seaside Park. When everyone else was getting hot dogs and hamburger me being the rebel wanted freaking TUNA. Conti's made the best dang tuna on Earth. I visited probably some time in the 90s and went to Contis just for a Tuna sandwich it was exactly as I remembered. Thanks for doing this. I love this city. Welcome to Bridgeport, Hugh C. Curran Mayor. I still remember that sign then Nick Panuzio, then Bill Seres, then John Mandanici, then Len Paoletta...
I remember palette and some of those Mayor's I read about im 54 my brothers and sister went to conte s mostly they have lots of stories about eating there glad u enjoy pictures I hope to upload more soon when I get a chance!
^Paoletta^
I would absolutely pay money to go into Green's just one more time to see if it really was as cool as I remember.
I remember the pet store fish tanks and birds im quite sure that was part of Walgreens? I have a research coming up i hoping to get some more exclusive pictures hopefully I will glad u like the pics
Me too! I loved the pet department and the fabric/sewing stuff in the basement. I bought fabric there to make a skirt and vest for myself in 8th grade.
@@chachiwahi Yes! I loved the basement, those tables and tables stacked with every fabric known to mankind, all for dirt cheap. Remember the big curvy food counter upstairs? My Mom used to buy me a big glass of that awful sugary lime punch, which I loved. I'm not remembering the pet department....I need to go back in time and see it again :)
A lot of stuff I remember but a lot before my time thx for sharing
👌👍

Very well done. I was born and raised in Bridgeport and I pretty much recognized these photos. Other Bridgeport videos I’ve seen are more modern and there’s very little that I recognize. Downtown was the place to be with, Leavitts, DM Read, all the Loews theaters, Bryn Mawr for lunch, and so many stores. Nydens and Skydels on the East Side. Had to take a bus, CR&L, everywhere. Very few people had cars as there was nowhere to park overnight. The times sure has changed. Great video. Need more old photos.
THANK U SO MUCH!!!! I was thinking of doing more modern pictures and videos because others are but I like the old ones I do have some 60s 70s 80s pics also when I have the time I will be posting soon and thank you so much for saying that I'm so happy u like photos
Why is Rockwell’s shown about six times?
Because sometimes I try to place it as like your riding around town or it just pops up in your mind ...I try to make it seem ur just traveling the city so I might show the same pic or different pics of same thing like if the video has a theme to fill it out longer I show same pic ...
Do you have any pictures from pleasure beach in the late 80s or 1990s before the bridge burned in 96?? I can't find not one photo or video of crossing the bridge in the 90s
Hi I'm sorry just saw this I think I have some I have to check when I get them I'll reply here ok?
I do i might do v8d on pleasure Beach soon since its the summer soon
we walked here from Hallen Scholl for gym and shop in 1966 and 1967
Yeah everybody walked most places here cause so much was in walking distance thats the Eastside alrite
Once an amazing city, now democrat run bunt out crap hole
The Democrat Party has destroyed a once great city. The mayor is a jailbird, the city councilman is a jailbird, the former state senator is facing federal indictment... the city needs to be taken over by the state. Republicans need to actually win elections
It's ALWAYS been democrat ran, as the entire state has been. it has nothing to do with party's but with demographics, plain, simple and ugly. When it was at its "grandest" it was populated by a 100 per cent Caucasian invaders (or "colonizers" 😒🤨🤫) . But when the "ethnically challenged" came in (some by force others by demand) the invaders felt threatened and or disgusted and ran into other towns, with their stolen treasures and their hipocrysies, and took their taxes with them. The city was left with its less fortunate, gainfully "unreliable" , hardworking - but not enough to sustain a city- taxpayer, and the plummet began. The big companies (even the government ran one's ), the circus and its head clown took off 🤡👎💩 , Downtown started packing up and what was left were the remains that wolves leave behind when they're done feasting on their kill...dry , meatless bones 😱🤔🤪. That sir, is the short story. So lay down your MAGA hat 🤮 , this city will NEVER be republican and neither will the city. It's aiming towards being even better than it once was (no thanks to it's cesspool of dirty, felonious money grabbing politics and politicians) and it might take some time, but it WILL be better. 😉👍☺
Well I guess it doesn't really matter who runs it 🤷 😕 but I hope it resolves back to better times and to tell truth I think it will nonetheless I hope you can find some happy moments with the content here on #bportmems thanks for commenting 😊
I am a native of CT and this video reminds me how bad it got. The high crime rate, the gangs, the drugs, the whole place is one big ghetto. It breaks my heart what happened to my home. I got out of there a couple of decades ago,and never regretted leaving.
Da Port, Love My Home Town.....
Glad u enjoyed the pictures
Politicians Betrayed BPT and Businesses turned their back on this once great city😡😡..
💯 fuked up politicians using our tax dollars to fund their parties , lifestyle and vacations. SMH we could’ve been great but we have greedy “leaders”
Hopefully it will get better
Yes, the people and firms that owned the old factories and slums held onto them hoping to make a fortune watching real estate prices rise. In the meantime Bridgeport fell into disrepair and fell behind the times. Thankfully, those people have passed away leaving leadership, not greed as their primary activity. Bridgeport could be a jewel.
I don't know why exactly, but this video is perfect in every way.
Thank Glad u enjoyed ☺
I worked there for 16 years till it closed in 1988. It was the best time of my life. God bless.
Thank You for sharing your story !

I know what you mean. I used to sell in Bridgeport back in the 1960s 1970s and 90s. It was rough but we enjoyed and survived. I left years ago, but the memories are great,
