Yes, You can still plant your fall bulbs in January and February. We will be planting out tulips, ranunculus and Fritillaries.
I'll step into the little greenhouse and do some winter sowing in bins, cups and trays as well
I was SO excited when I heard my name on this video and you answered my question!!! ( BobbiLynn ) I gasped and excitedly played it for my husband !! Thank you for your advice ! ❤
I hope I answered your question....
You absolutely did !!
About a book. I would enjoy just an illustrated journey of a year in your gardens and animals. Knowing you it would be inspiring and joyful to enjoy. ❤❤❤
Another lovely inspiring video 💖🌸☺️
What a lovely surprise to see your video pop up! I really enjoy seeing your garden throughout the year. ❤❤❤
It's a lively life here in the garden!
Love the sweet cat, thank you for sharing. Beautiful vid
Estella loves the attention she receives from viewers.
Yes we need your garden book!!! I know it will be beautiful.
This video was a delight! The planting of seeds and bulbs brings hope. Thank you.
The last two days I put my winter sowing tubs planted and outside. Since I watched your video on how to make them years ago. Always fun to watch them sprout up! ❤❤❤
It really is exciting to see those little seedlings filling the bins, a great way to start off the season.
Missed your gentle gardening . Lively and lovely video .
I love the brick border. It looks so much better than the railroad ties. I had a major sewer break in my backyard last year. The entire yard was flooded and had to be dug up. I lost most of my plants in my 42 year old garden. After lots of tears, I refused to give up. It took 8 months to finally repair the sewer and level my yard. They had to dig down 20 feet to repair a city sewer connection also. I spent all of September, lining my new flower beds with a brick patterned border. I am 73. So it was no small feat for me. I also planted 1000 daffodils and alliums. I am sure that they will all bloom here in Michigan 6b. I plan to make some willow baskets to put in the garden this spring. I am going to use old wicker wreaths as my bases. You are such an inspiration and I love to watch you putter and plant in your cottage garden. Thank you for the lovely post. It’s so dreary, freezing and snowy here in Michigan. But your post brightened my day.
What a nightmare! I think you told me about this last year, and it is so disheartening. But you have OVERCOME ! Planting the bulbs was a perfect solution to start your spring while you plan the new garden beds.
Wow! Despite your loss, I bet your garden is going to be fantastic this year. You’re amazing! 😊
I agree with debradevine3949! I would love to read about daily life on your very beautiful farm/property. More stories of all of your sweet animals and pictures of your many gardens. We don’t need another “how to” gardening book. We need to share your experience on your lovely homestead. That’s why we like love to watch everything you do. ❤
Thank you!
Your voice, Jeri … I think you could market it! ❤
That along with the historical content, especially the old ways of gardening making do with what you have or what you can make with what you have, your animals roaming around freely is all like a book in itself. Thanks for allowing us to be a part of it.
Thank you for being a long time viewer and commenter, I appreciate it!
I greatly enjoy watching you plant. I am in the frozen north and need about another month.
You're in a good area for the winter sowing in containers.
Enjoyed this video so much!! I’m in zone 6 so we are still very cold but I’m so excited to get my garden going. I can’t wait for the Spring spun cotton video. I am now obsessed with making them🥰
I'm obsessed with the spun cotton as well. I want to get my winter sowing finished so I can get back to my crafting table!
I think a pictorial journey in you garden, your gorgeous art work and a just a few lines for reference would be lovely.. sometimes you just want to see something beautiful and peaceful and not read a lot of information. What a glorious way to unwind from the stress of the day a visual feast and a hot cup of tea. ❤
You could be right about a very little amount of text. I must have a hundred garden books that I rarely read, only look at the pictures for inspiration.
I agree , and you have something to offer that the other garden books don’t. Your very own unique Hopalong Hollow style that we all love !!!
Good morning Jeri,
I also prefer planting ranunculus in pots. If you are already busy with your garden plans for the season, it can only mean one thing for us though…autumn is around our corner. But I am happy for you, your spring is almost there. I will enjoy your garden while mine will be resting. Sending a big warm hug. 🤗🍃🌸🍃 (Regarding the book, your illustrations, your own experience, insight and the knowledge that you gained over the years from gardening will make it unique. Online marketing could probably be another option.)
I do love the seasons, but we've had such a cold winter, I'm over it! I have to ask you the same question you asked me: what are the 3 bushes and flowers you always plant in your gardens?
@ I would say lavender, roses and Silver Dream sage (pineapple sage is also gorgeous) and I will always plant zinnias, petunias and the dwarf variety snapdragons…like you, I also have difficulty choosing, but I can roughly say those are definitely in.
You are an inspiration Ms Jerri…I always look forward to your videos. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden 🥰
P.S. Regarding your unfinished book - A gentle reminder that what you have to offer is your own unique, God-given talent and creativity that we all enjoy so much ❤
Thankyou!

What a relaxing video for winter cozy morning! Jason adores the cat that hanging with you. I am reminded to start my ranunculus, sweet pea, and bunny tail grass. Also remember now that I have an unheated greenhouse for winter sowing instead of using milk jugs. Take care! 🥰❤️❤️❤️
My kitty Estella is always hanging out when I record video, she is such a ham!
It’s so wonderful to watch your channel! You make my morning❤❤👩🌾
I’d love a garden calendar made by you!!! Went out and played in my garden today. Needs lots of weeding, but the bulbs coming up give me happiness. I’m hoping my fritillaria bulbs come up as well. Such an interesting flower.😊
Hi Jeri it was so nice to be out in your garden with you today! I will be planting some of my tulip bulbs soon and some of my flower seeds. Still pretty cold here in PA. Thank you for all of your gardening g tips! Have a great weekend 🌞💞
At this point with winter sowing, the cold is your friend.
Art prints!! Lovely🙂
I love fritillaria 💚💚💚
So happy to see you again. I am going try with oriental poppies again. Thanks for your encouragement. I live in Michigan and will not be out in my garden for a while. Happy Planting.
It took me 3 years but I finally had some success.
One of my favorite books, has been the beloved, The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady. If your garden book or a future book could be a more modern version of it. This is a lovely video, with so many helpful ideas.
I have that book and the "Nature Notes" book as well; It's a nice idea
Yes, my garden looks similar with much to clean up. I love seeing your "after" clips, they so inspire me to go outside and get to it. Just a few hours east of you in NC, I also don't want to bother with lights, heat mats and the like. Want it to be a simpler process this year, and winter-sowing is a great choice. It's how I started many perennials years ago. The few milder days of late have me weeding and prepping, trying to get ahead of it for spring exuberance to come. Happy gardening, and a great video!
Your weather has probably been as cold as ours over the past few weeks, so the few warm days we've recently had are a Godsend.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow ❤️
Thankyou Jeri for such a refreshing, interesting video -- your channel is so .... interesting.
Well, it's not the typical garden, that is true.
Jeri, this video made me want to start gardening., but I know it will be a long time yet for me. I am in NY & supposed to get about 8 in of snow tonight. I hope your guinea hen fritillarias will come up. I have them & love them. I also planted last year fritillaria acmopetala & I am so excited to see them come up. I am ordering pink parfait siberian iris from Brecks.. I'm excited about that. They look like roses.
Please tell me where you purchase your Frit. bulbs, I think I'm getting bad ones.
Beautiful garden and greenhouse. Makes me want to plant something. But I must wait! There are 4 snowstorms coming here in S/W Ohio!
Sorry for you!
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow It's ok. I'm deep cleaning and cleaning drawers out, but I am looking forward to spring! and what all you're up to in your garden.
This was lovely! I am so jealous of this beautiful little garden. It’s so compact and it seems like you are going to have so many gorgeous things just exploding into life.
Oh you must plant your own little Potager, it's the best kind of garden.
@ I wish I could. I planted lots of things where I live before but here, I don’t have any ground and I don’t have any sunlight on my porch. It gets like 20 minutes of direct sun per day.
Great video with plenty of motivation and tips for me. I kept seeing recycled bottles being used for winter sowing, which I thought would be a pain. I think I'll use your clear big bin method next year mostly because many flowers I'd like to be successful growing are ones you wrote on the chalkboard too. 😊
The cat food cans... first thing that came to mind is rain chains... cut slits and curl back (or balloon out and then inwards, or...???) for flower petals... come up with ways to decorate (as you so adeptly do)... Japanese Edwardian Rain Chains? 😂
Best of luck with your temperamental seeds, and I'm sure whatever you decide to do with your illustrations will be well received! ❤
I do like the bins, they are not as unsightly as the milk jugs....
I'm inspired even though I'm growing in 4a!
Lovely ❤ I live in South Carolina originally from Georgia. We had unexpected snow, and now 80○ degrees, sunny skys. Im prepping a garden. Still slightly worried about a possible freeze.
Same weather we've had, I'm taking advantage of this very warm day.
Hi Jeri! I’m so jealous that you are able to do some outdoor bulb planting already, I’m in zone 6 and it’s been so cold here and more snow on the way tonight! I have some beautiful tulips that I forgot to plant last fall and I’d love to get them in the ground before spring but right now the ground is still quite frozen, any suggestions? Love that you now have an Edwardian garden, it just sounds so romantic. I always have trouble with sweet peas, no matter what I do they just never do well, all greens and no flowers..so frustrating! Thank you for sharing Jeri, love your videos!
Thank you!
Your garden video is perfect timing to give me a happy diversion! We have had one snow storm after another this week in SE Oregon , accumulating 3 feet of snow in one week ! It gives me some lovely things to think on about the hope of Spring ! I LOVE your garden videos best of all !!!
What is your most successful way to sow foxgloves ? We live in 6B zone . High Desert climate
I'm sowing Foxglove today in the plastic winter-sowing bins and also in an open tray. I do have an older video on planting Foxglove.
Ok , I will try the winter sowing method for Foxgloves then , and keep hoping !
Really loved this video thankyou Jerri don’t change being You 💐 I can’t get enough of learning all about gardening even though we never get frost or Snow in our area … good to learn how anyways but I love your way of gardening 👒🪴🙌🌱🥰 some great ideas from The Land Down Under 🇦🇺🐨🦘
🌷🌱🤍 beautiful ranunculus
I hope they bloom as well as the pictures....
@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow indeed! you take such good care and plan well for your gardens. hope they turn out lovely this year,
Hi Jeri, love your gardens and I am looking forward for better weather to come Indiana ! I love your brick paths and boarders are those in the ground? next to the school I work the school brought the property next to it with a brick farm house built in 1838 , and sooo very sad they will be knocking it down , I hope to get some bricks ! Take care ! Blessings Paula
Try to get some of the doors and floorboards and windows too!
❤❤❤
Cranery gardens channel said you inspired him in his latest video
He is a sweet guy, and very funny too. Love his channel.
💐💗💐
💚💚💚👍
I use the cat food tins for slug control, I sink them soil level and fill with beer.
And if line those glasses with wax paper slips out easy for planting,,, ❤thanx for all your videos ,I've seen every one and always look forward to the next ❤❤,,,, ,,,,,,LILLE MARIE
Hi jeri, I was wondering in your gardens do you have a problem with snakes and what do you do to combat them? I'm planning on moving to Tennessee in the country. World love to know thanks
Black or Rat snakes are frequent visitors to my garden and farm. One of them took up residence in my greenhouse last year! For the most part they are your friends, eating rodents and pests, they are not venomous. However, if you have baby ducklings or chicks in unprotected areas, they won't hesitate to make a meal of them and THAT is not acceptable.
Garden Book: Seeds of Faith….linking art of gardening with faith in Christ
How would you treat your roses if you had a problem with spots on the leaves. I’m on my second set of climbing roses and they started getting spots too. I’m getting frustrated.
My roses occasionally get the black spot; I know it's ugly but it won't harm the buds or the roses. I just flick them off the leaves into a container and spray the roses with a product made specifically for black spot.
@ thank you so much for answering my question. This helps me feel less stressed about it.
So many poisonous for dogs and cats and I have naughty ones lol so .... i can't plant some of these. I don't risk it.I do love them though. So fun
I'm lucky my critters don't munch on the plants.
Thank You Jeri for Your video it’s very helpful for me to learn more about how to manage my garden.🫶👋🇨🇦
