Congrats on the new job and new house! Hopefully both you and the animals arrive safely when you move, and I'm wondering how you're going to heat the bins for the reptiles? Also by the way your eyebrows still look perfect without makeup xx
Likely won’t be doing anything for heating. All the animals I have are more than fine being kept at room temperature for a day or two. I’ll just make sure that the car stays at a comfortable temperature
If you have favorite corals you want to keep, you can always frag them. You can literally keep them alive in a clear glass cookie jar with live rock, heater, and airline with a pump for circulation (cookie jar/vase reef concept). They can be transported in a small styrofoam cooler. Just throwing it out there, but moving is stressful enough I totally understand selling the livestock off first. Moving tanks sucks lol.

You have quite the adventure ahead of you. (I moved across the US, from California to Pennsylvania, and then back to California 18 months later, with 6 pets. I had to make four overnight stops each time. Thankfully Motel 6 allows pets!) I would recommend bringing Critical Care for your rabbits. Mine went off her food the first time we moved and you don't want to have to worry about GI stasis in the middle of a long trip.

Congratulations on your new house and job. I live in Ontario and love it. Maybe we can do a collab for fun as I don't have reptiles but I have rabbits, hamsters, fish, dogs and lots of birds 😃
I have a couple questions
Are you going to drill or burn air holes in the bins or do you have a shortcut for putting air holes in so many enclosures?
What are your plans for heating? Are you gonna use a ton of heat packs?
Btw I'm pleased you have smol travel bins cause if theyre too big it can be really dangerous if a car has to stop, and they look super durable! You really care about your animals good luck with the move :)
Yes I’ll be adding ventilation to all the bins! As for heating I don’t think I’ll be doing much. All of the animals I have are fine being kept at room temperature for a day or two, so ill likely just make sure the car stays at a comfortable temperature

Congrats on the new job. As someone who just moved into my house and moved many geckos (and enclosures), I completely relate to the challenge and stress. I’d grab some extra heat pads and find a way to pack the animals so the bins do not move in transit. Also - since you are driving a long distance, I’d highly consider writing the animal species and “harmless animal” somewhere on your bin. That way if you’re interrogated by an incompetent police officer you are at least following a protocol that is adopted by most federal shipping companies (at least here in the US). That way they won’t think you’re up to no good.
Yes I’ll definitely be placing all of the smaller bins into larger ones to keep them in place! And thank you for the tip! I’ll be sure to write that on all of the bins!
Good choice about your tank, I had to help move my dad's aquarium less than an hour away and we nearly lost the corals. Above all, It's hard moving tanks.

I have an idea for the air supply, you could cut out the top and put a wire mesh on it so the animals will make it comfortably to your new enclosure 🤗

If you're doing the drive in 1 day, drive around Montreal, not through. It'll say it's like an hour longer on your GPS, but I've done this drive annually since I was a kid and Montreal traffic adds 3-4 hours every time.

Hey! I'm moving from Colorado to New York next year! I have 4 bettas and a crestie. They're all going on a plane with my mom. My fishies will be bagged and my crested will be in a medium kritter keeper. And I'll be waiting for them with they're tanks set up at my apartment 😁😉
Nigh one boxes saved my life! Two big plastic tubs that where the first thing to be unpacked and left out.
So I had one with coffee clean clothes ect for me and one for the animals. All food, water conditioners, gravel vac, feliway, bucket, spare bowls and some bedding. Just stopped the stress of where did I put that issue.

I just moved over 3,000 miles away with two dogs and a snake. It was so stressful for me to move the snake. Where was this two months ago. 😭😭 (he did fine, though).

Any tips for moving 4 dogs, 4 cats and a bearded dragon from one state to the next here in the USA, drive is about 12-14 hrs from where I am to where I plan to move.

I'm curious about how you plan on keeping all of your bins in place during the drive, like keeping them from sliding around and possibly getting tipped over from a bump in the road etc.
I definitely understand your choice to drive them rather than ship though! With the amount of animals you have it could easily rack up to be $1000+ in shipping costs😅

in a crested gecko cage do you put the heat mat under the substrate or under the whole enclosure
You don’t need a heat pad for a crested gecko... they do best kept at room temperature and if you need extra heat then it’s best to use a ceramic heat emitter or a deep heat projector
