Situationship, sounds to me, a relationship between two individuals are together solely for companionship, with no commitments and does not last basically.
If you go back to the basics, marriage is also a label. Some people just don’t care for labels, marriage included but are in stable exclusive relationships.

Right now at least, the meaning they gave is pretty accurate. I’d describe it as an “in between stage” or just a stage wherein there’s nothing official/no labels.
