How To: Deactivate Component Protection From Your VW Radio Via ODIS

  • Component Protection is there to protect your Volkswagen vehicle when a part/item has been changed, damaged or upgraded. But sometimes it can be a pain when you do not know how to remove it as it stops the radio from functioning properly.
    This is normally a "Main Dealer" only fix but fear not ... We can provide this service*
    *You will be asked for an official invoice or documentation to prove where the replacement parts have come from. Nothing can be done without this as we are an authorised independent services provider.
    It is a quick run-through of steps you must take to get your factory radio back up and running. Please bear in mind that you must have access to a dealer with the ODIS software.

    I was damn well about to send this video to my VW dealership. I asked them if they could do this for my new (used) unit I have coming in after the original one got stuck in an endless power boot cycle. They said they've never heard of doing such a thing! Despite so many cars among multiple years having radio issues!

    This video is not complete, after you are removing component protection, you are not showing what else will be going on, you are going to be losing 3 features. 1. bluetooth, 2. telephone, 3. car play. thats true i did that to my system and i was thinking everything is ok but when i was testing all features its showing 3 features is not active, which means you are going to have swap/ fec keys to be able to get back 3 features working, but it all depends if your system is is unlocked or stock, If its stock you will be needing swap patching system to be able to set the swap keys that is supporting your car

      @@BeterrI am in the same boat. Got protective mode cleared out with ODIS from the dealer but still don’t have Bluetooth / phone / CarPlay. Any tips? Is this still a fix within ODIS? 2016 Tiguan with navigation

      Factory radio touchscreen broke… replaced with a used radio and had the dealer remove protected mode… 160$ … and still not Bluetooth / CarPlay / phone / nav. Radio only 👎

    can we use any third party OBD connector to perform that, or do we need the VAS 5054a obd connector to remove the components protection ?

      Invariably, we always use our VAS 6154 Diagnostic tool with ODIS to preform main dealer functions like Component Protection. We are unaware of any aftermarket device that has the capability for this feature because it has to connect with servers in Germany.

      Where about are you and how do I go about booking in. I got a vw caddy replaced the stereo worked for 5 days and now no sound, taken to my local vw specialist who said it couldn't be done, but it worked for 5 days 😂😂

    I had to replace my ACC sensor on a mk7 GTI with a second hand unit from a breaker, will this make it work again? Thanks

    I have replaces my 5f unit, and have component protection active. When i scan the car it shows CP fault code on 5f and 19 gateway. I assume this is normal.

    I swapped ECU in Passat B8 and CP became active in 5F. 5F was oryginal component. During CP removal in 5F an error appears from FAZIT "FAZ9484E checksum-1 is incorrect". Installed back oryginal ECU and tried remove CP from 5F again and still same error. Perform 5F online software update, coding, parametrisation, reset, still same error and CP not possible to remove. VIN in 5F is same as the car but still CP active. What to do?
