Not hard to explain at all. They look like well-fed house cats because people give them the same food they give house cats. They stay In this location because they know the humans are friendly and bring excellent nutrition they could never get from hunting on their own.
Stray cat in Japan are majority like this because its a norm in Japan to feed stray cats and even watching over them. This is why Japan also have lots and lots of stray cats; they can breed and live healthily in that environment.
Even if you say, take a walk in a neighborhood and spotted a cat and ask the people who live there about that cat, most of the time they can recognize them and even already name those cat like its theirs!
I honestly think this is the perfect way to have a cat; you dont need to have them indoor but instead nurture them in your neighborhood, it feels like you own a pet without having the hassle of taking care of one instead of just giving them food and water!

It's quite rare for even home kept cats to let you scratch their bellies. Out of dozen cats we had over the years only one of them allowed it (though she absoltely loved it), so it's pretty nice that this random cat is so accepting of it.
it is also key to never have your arm in front of their head because it will often trigger the clamp shut bite mechanism. Approach them b your petting hand from their lower body upwards and you will be surprised how many cats then actually do allow the belly scratch. THough not every cat we had allowed it, the ones who get petted like that since birth were most accepting.

都内でしたが住宅地だったので車とかは入ってこれない場所で安心でした。

今だに脳裏に焼き付いてるのは、極寒の田舎の高速パーキングのコンビニで買い物をして出ようとした時、横の草むらの中で４匹の野良ちゃん達が重なり合って暖を凌いでるのを発見しました。
防寒する事が出来ずブルブル震えてるのを見て、どうする事も出来ず過酷だなぁと切ない気持ちになりました。
可愛いから拾って帰りたい、すぐに病院に連れて行って飼い猫にする
