      Ohio state is loaded. If Austin mack didnt have a freak game like he did (dropping 5 passes, 1 td 3 would have been 3rd down conversions) the buckeyes would have scored a couple more times.
      TCU looks really tough though and I was impressed with the speed and strength of their offense and defense. They have a couple speed demons on offense. They should be right in the mix to win the big 12

      Agreed, missed catches, silly penalties, missed PI's and the refusal to call holding caused me to lose major money on the -13. Still happy with the end result. Go Bucks!

      Gregory Mildenstein the fact that Gary Patterson has 2-3 star recruits and can go head to head with anyone speaks volumes to how much of a great coach he is. Ohio St had the better talent and size and still almost lost the game. Crazy

    • @420jamamaw
      @420jamamaw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's frustrating because most of the defenses points allowed are from big chunk plays or broken down plays. Seeing how most of the defense is young, hopefully they mature and fix that

    • @inflameswetrust2194

      Id guess that Day told the snapper to keep em low.
      We’ve had problems with the snaps going over the qbs head before.
      Better low then high and possibly turned over.

    • @lpslover8627
      @lpslover8627 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm optimistic that the problems on defense are very correctable with coaching. Defensive backs taking poor angles, gap integrity issues with the linebackers, etc. Same with snaps under center on offense.
      I do think Shaun Wade needs to be starting opposite Jordan Fuller. Trace McSorley will exploit that side if not fixed, and Wade looks like the best option to me.

    • @SolitudeMG
      @SolitudeMG 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The low snap will most likely be corrected by next game. Urban Meyer will have Jordan work on his snaps all week long.

    It was a difficult game to watch because of the ridiculously biased refs. To be fair, Ohio State got away with a couple too, but the calls, or should I say, lack of calls, i.e.; holding our receivers, tackling Nick Bosa as he tried to get to their QB which caused him to strain his quad as he tried to power pass; the obvious targeting from the 3rd camera angle which took the refs forever to decide, yet again they blew it, causing Ohio State to punt...after all that, our Buckeyes prevailed. And in the end, they were classy as always by not scoring when they easily could have. They had the momentum, but they tipped their helmets to a really good opponent. Hope TCU wins the Big 12 this year. Go Bucks!

    • @pattymiller3610
      @pattymiller3610 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't see that, but if that happened, that's pretty shitty play. I do remember Kirk (went to Ohio State, but is a turncoat) Herbstret commenting about the refs, "They're kind of letting them play tonight." What he should have said if he had the balls was, "They are missing some obvious holding calls."

    TCU gave us a tough match up as I suspected but I thought we would win we're the better team. In the first half the up tempo wasnt so much the problem it was they was mixing up there running and passing game. TCU was able to use long snap counts trying to get penalties. Ohio State struggled a little dealing with different looks from TCU's defense. Ultimately even though we lost Nick Bosa fornthe rest of the game we made half time adjustment's and that's what champion's do and we settled down and came together but we will go back to the drawing board and fix our mistakes. Our offense has a great balance being able to throw or to run and be successful at either but when the passing game wasn't going our way we ran and then when we couldn't run we passed balance is key. SALUTE to Buckeye Nation...

    Really good game. TCU is definitely dangerous, but the buckeyes are capable of being a complete team. And it seems practically every offensive player is capable of being a weapon. Haskins is as good a thrower I have ever seen in my 30 + years, so once they quit with the zone read, as if he’s going to run, then they’ll hopefully reduce those negative run plays.

    2018 defense really was our Achilles heel. Our offense was firing on all cylinders, but our defense wasn’t up to par. I truly believe it was the scheme. Schiano not putting our players in the best places to make plays. That, and the almost constant man coverage that was never changed. It’s hard to think what could’ve been that season.

    Ohio St always finds a way to win these shaky games. They're a resilient team and they play hard af. TCU's receivers had an incredible night though and the game was much closer than the score led on imo. Games like these make me love CFB. GG both teams. TCU is legit

    I'm reading the negatives about the Buckeyes. If you watched Clemson, we are better. LSU, not that great on offense. Bama, well, they don't play anyone to really test them this season, as usual. Georgia, overhyped. I saw a fast D, an OL that gave Hester plenty of time and let Dobbins hit the holes. That 93 yd run by TCU was just a brilliantly called and executed play. Great teams get better as the season progresses, so the Bucks will get better. Mistakes happen because there are no preseason games.

    @janis317 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Turnovers were the story in this game. TCU played a great game and if Darius Anderson had gotten 10 more touches this game may not have gone to the Bucks. Areas of concern for the Bucks are Nick Bosa's health and the continued failures for the safety's to limit big plays in the run game. Still with 3 turnovers and 2 going for scores this game is a satisfactory victory for the Bucks --- even though they gave up nearly 600 yards to the Horny Frenchmen. One final thought. This was the best defended 1000 yard offensive game I have ever seen. Not many blown coverages, and aside from the 93 yrd run most of the yardage was earned and not given. Two very skilled offenses against tenacious defenses. Wonderful game to watch.

    • @inflameswetrust2194
      @inflameswetrust2194 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      janis317 id wager,
      Both of these defenses are pretty good statistically the rest of season, but both offenses are also just ridiculously loaded with playmakers.
      Not sure any defense could actually have held these offenses, including alabama or goergia.
      Modern cfb is a race to 40 pts. Whoever gets there first generally wins

    Haskins is leading the team like a senior his 3rd game in. Ryan Day is the all-time best win pct. of any OSU headcoach. Dobbins and Weber were monsters this game. Hill had a phenomenal game. All those monsters on our D-line. Our defense adjusted to the fastest offense we'll play all season. Let that sink in.
    The team had some weak spots, but special teams played well and handled the pressure calmly. Coaching and playcalling are obviously top-tier (Ryan Day 2025 OSU HC?), and Haskin's game IQ is already stellar. And his arm is ridiculous. Kid is so talented, but this team is stacked at so many positions. We just notice the QB the most, but OSU looks scary. That defense is lethal. I'm looking forward to the Dwayne Haskins era

      Of the top 4 teams Ohio State had the tougher opponent. Let's be real despite the neutral site this was a road game for Ohio State. Ole Miss (on offense and defense) went to sleep on Alabama. Middle Tennessee and Georgia Southern are jokes. Ohio State should be ranked #3 based on Clemson's 2 point win over Texas A@M. Because we all know if Ohio State had beaten Rutgers by 2 while ranked #2 they would have dropped in the polls.

    • @adrianbundy3249
      @adrianbundy3249 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meh. I won't make a decision on Bama until I see them play a high level team. Sure Ole Miss is "SEC", but it makes me think of the one year tOSU was smoking people, two bad ones - and then blew the mediocre one (of which Ole Miss is) right out of the gate to smithereens... Yet ultimately failed some harder tests later and never made it.
      When the talent gap is that large, the difference between medicore and bad can be covered very easily by a lot of factors, making it appear just as much of a blowout.
      What will Bama look like vs A&M, LSU, etc? Those are more important factors. I don't think we will really know anything concrete on Alabama until next week (partially), and not completely until about November (LSU, MSU, Auburn).
      It is still far too early to rate them as an unbeatable offense yet,or really, team.

      John H - I see where you're coming from and I don't disagree, but don't pretend for a second that Rutgers is anywhere near comparable to Texas A&M. The performance they put on against Clemson was much more comparable to what TCU did against Ohio State.

    Austin Mack is a bust for the buckeyes. He's not going to do anything but take up scholarship space for an actual talented wide receiver.

      Play calling will change with Urban Meyer coming back, and IIRC the OL allowed no sacks. Our receivers just need to preform a bit better and our cornerbacks need to be more consistent.

    Buckeyes fans need to realize, that if TCU doesn't turn the ball over, they win and possibly by a TD or two. But also, credit needs to be given to the Buckeye defense for playing a great game.

    • @CJ-vq8jw
      @CJ-vq8jw 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spriggs If Austin Mack didn't drop so many catches, OSU wins by more. If the defense didn't allow a 93 yard TD run, OSU wins by more. We could go on and on with these hypotheticals. And no, allowing 500+ yards is not a great game.

    • @MAVERICKTHINKER
      @MAVERICKTHINKER 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CJ-vq8jw We could, but that's not the same as decision making and ball security. 3 turnovers that were totally preventable. Not making a catch is just lack of skill. Missing a field goal, same thing. TCU beat themselves. They have a better offense than tOSU does. TCU's RB avg 12 yards a carry against a supposedly "elite" defense.

    • @CJ-vq8jw
      @CJ-vq8jw 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Spriggs Lol from "credit needs to be given to the Buckeye defense for playing a great game" to "TCU's RB avg 12 yards a carry against a supposedly 'elite' defense." You have a very liberal interpretation of "totally preventable" if you're describing a strip sack from the blind side. Is giving up a 93 yard run not considered "preventable," especially considering the poor decision making in the angle the safety decided to take, then? Mack's hands have been reliable in the past, I would say drops are "preventable" in that he wouldn't be a starter and one of the preferred targets if he lacked skill in literally the point of being a receiver. I don't know how you can definitively say TCU has a better offense in comparing the offensive production, especially if you watched how OSU moved the ball in the second half.

    OSU LBs and safeties slow asf and they can't cover anyone. You can't fix that in 2 months. Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia, and Bama would DESTROY this piece of trash defense.

    That's why we need Meyer back. We are a better team than this. And it annoyed me they didn't go for another TD. Meyer would have, because he Knows POINTS keep you in the National Rankings. A #15 team getting 28 points, but we Should have had at Least 47 points to look worthy of being #4. Kneeling the ball. bs. Meyer would not have done that. Winning by 12 points to a #15 team is not good enough to keep you #4

      clemson looked really bad today I think we should be number 2. We left 17 points of the board, their quarterback threw a 50 yard pass to a double covered receiver and converted that was flukey we could have easily won by 20+.

    • @OhioOwns
      @OhioOwns 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      dude, a #4 team beating a #15 team is worthy of moving you up period, it doesn't necessarily need to be a giant blowout. that game alone put OSU at #2 on most peoples "Power Rankings" lists. and going from #9-5 to #2 is pretty good even if they're not official rankings.

    Ohio state's strengths and weaknesses showed in this game. Strengths: 1) Haskin's accuracy and poise 2) Two amazing tough, sure handed, RB's 3) Scary defensive line 4) Excellent receiving core. (I believe this game was an anomaly for Austin Mack)
    Weaknesses: 1)Michael Jordans snapping ability 2) No punt return game to speak of.... 3) Atrocious linebacker play 4) Young inexperienced secondary 5) Sean Nurenburger
