- Truck info. 2014 Ram 3500. Aisin. 3.42 axle ratio. I ordered it for myself in 2014. So had it from new. Now has 547k miles. This truck is been nothing but a blessing to my family and I.

I have a high mileage tundra and have always used OEM for everything. It's definitely the way to go.
Glad to hear that about the 6.7 Cummins! I just bought a 2500 Cummins to tow our RV after briefly owning a 6.4 Hemi which in all honesty it towed fine but nothing tows like my prior Cummins. Hoping to keep it for many years too
Best choice, I lost hope in power strokes had 2 .6.0 & 6.7 ..... Left all my money at mechanic shops just like my friends changing engine over and over & over constantly back in the shop..... Bought a 2020 Cummins 450k miles changed 2wheel bearings and control module on the 68rfe and still all the power since day 1.... I still can't kill it amazing
4th gen for the win as always. Best trucks ever built.
I drove off the lot wit brand new 2020 Cummins with a trailer didn't break it in now I got 450,000mi and only changed 2wheel bearings and control module just now on my 68rfe and I can't kill the dam truck it's amazin the old crap is wack loud and out dated interior and exterior u can't tell a 1500 from a 3500... The new look is insane
I love that truck it just looks good and it gets the job done no matter what one of my FAVORITE trucks you owned was that 5th gen it was basically the same color as that you put the nice wheels on it. That truck stood out from the rest and why you got rid of that I still don’t know to this day, but that was hard to see that one leave the channel.💯💯💯
These ain’t no grocery getter trucks pulling boats on the weekend. Paul works his trucks like commercial equipment.
I'm a machinist by trade but that has a term it's called metal fatigue the same thing happens in stamping dies the springs only last a specified number of stamps then the die must be serviced and springs replaced.
Point of elasticity and the point of plasticity were the terms we were thought in metallurgy.
Man thats awesome! Once my 07 5.9 kick the bucket, 275k and no sign of wearing out, im ready for a 4th gen. Was on the fence but im ready now. Unless i find a 3rd gen mega 5.9 g56..... lol 🦄
Hey, Paul, great content. Keep it coming.I have 290k on my 2020 Ram 3500. It runs like a dream, just suspension work so far. I'm planning to rebuild the engine at 500k just so I can keep the truck in the family. Any recommendations to keep the engine from any major failures? Also, I pull a 5 car trailer.
I had a 1996 2nd gen. that had 570,000 when I sold it and still saw it around town for a while, so yeah nothing else comes close to the 5.9 Cummins
Higher spring rate more rotational resistance probably hurts mpg. I have colt cam stg3 and manton springs and pushrods
Have you entertained getting Aisin transmission tuning by PPEI for any of your trucks?
I need a Cummins 😢
Years ago, Dorman made good stuff, but now it's garbage.
What about the his 2022 rams how are they holding up
I have a 2018 dually with manual g56 trans 3:73 gears thinking about selling 41k miles
About the normal mileage for valve cover gaskets on a yota
My 06 has 1 million 250k on it and I ran the hell out of it. The newer trucks have shit for metal in the springs.
Probably time for new tires, too
Have you tried the fass EGR solution system by any chance ?
No. But I am interested
I put locking hubs on my 5500 ram from the ram man Inc Man let me tell you power gain and mpg wow rid off vibration on steering FYI
My Cummins grinds on stop and turn if wheels straight it won't grind new wheel bearings it does glhave 450k miles 2020 4x4
What brand water pump do you recommend on a 18 HO
We do gates or oem
Hypothetically, do your 4th gen’s have def?
His trucks are bone stock
You ever have a truck REALLY clim water temp when it down shifts and is high in the revs?
Like i mean really clim, down shift from 2000 rpm in 5th to 2500 in 4th and it climbes to 230 water in less than 10 seconds.
I had something like this going on when I had an aftermarket coolant tank. If I did a spirited run, temps would spike to the 230s°F then come down to the 190s°F. I think there were either air trapped in the system causing vapor lock, or that the stand pipe delete kit I used wasn't correct. A few weeks ago I reinstalled the OE coolant tank and replumbed the coolant hoses to mirror the factory and now it holds steady at 190°F, which is what the thermostat is set at, no matter what I do.
I noticed the last video on the high mileage. You didn’t mention any replacement of Def system. 🤔
It fell off 450,000 miles ago 😊
😂
Separate video coming
I’ve been following and waiting for that video for 6 years now 😅😅🤪
You should try 4500 or a 5500
Why? Most of his trucks aren’t even duallys..
He has, explained in other videos
You won't get that kind of mileage out of Duramax or a Ford.
Say it louder!
Ford and Chevy can do it. Just need 5 10 speed transmission replacements😂
@@samuelhatch8470Exacfly. The Aisin 6 speed is this the pinnacle of durability in these trucks. We can fight it all we want, but we will look back and find the 6.7 Cumminsand the Aisin 6 speed was the best. I’m sure others shift faster and smoother I personally think if that’s what you want you should probably be driving a half ton, but for people who use these trucks to pull everyday…..Aisin is the way to go.
C farmer got 500k out of his dmax.
Have 2 duramax over 400 k. Never been touched except water pump. And don't leak anything on concrete drive.
Steering components, stay the fuck away from OEM.
Recommendations?
Why you say that? All of our trucks had really good life out of them. Stock lasted 500k plus on all trucks. I say that is killer mileage if you ask me.
Use rebuildable ball joints from EMP out of Edmonton Alberta. I used to be lucky to get 80k on a set of OEM ball joints. I get over 200k with EMP ball joints, and the replacement costs are 25% of factory, after the initial replacement
@@ratracewelding6935 I have some Dynatracs on my truck. It's my first set of rebuildable ball joints, so I'm hoping they'll both last longer and be cheaper come next round of front end work.
@@pddieselpowerdepends on what your doing with your truck. Stock tire size and your not plowing for half the year and your roads are smooth, stock parts are gonna last. Throw a 900-1200 lb plow on the front different story.
