My comments are as follows A) Controversy about words 1) Note the words "Torah" and "Law" 2) In the English language and among those who speak English, "Torah" means the Scriptures /Holy Book of the Jews and "Bible" means the Scriptures/ Holy Book of the Christians. This is how these words are understood by most people. 3) I have a Bible in the English language (RSV - CE, that is, Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition). It does not have the word "Torah". It has the word "Law" in Paul' s Letter to the Romans. 4) How is it that one channel quotes Pope Francis saying "Torah" ( Crux by John Allen, time 19:30 ff) ? And another channel quotes him saying "Law" but shows a window " Why Pope Francis ' comments on the Torah were hurtful to his Jewish friends" (Counsel of Trent by Trent Horn, time 1:35 to2:00)? B) Do those priests who dialogue with some Jews live and teach the teachings of Christ especially the Sermon on the Mount?
It is not the Torah as such that gives life, it is Yahweh who gives life, with the Torah as the instrumentality of that life. One understands the sensitivity of the issue, particularly for our Jewish brothers and sisters, but the Hebrew Bible itself does not shy away from condemning the sins of Israel, as the New Testament does not pull its punches in doing so against Christian communities.
Why dont you comment anything about that pope Francis acctually said to the journalists onboard the pope-plane, that he totally respects, and absolutely loves, everything Orban has done for the Hungarian youth, and to save Hungary? The truth is that as pope Francis was leaving Hungary, he just would not stop prising Viktor Orban. He expressed his impression to all the people on the plane in the microphone onboard.
As a woman who thinks putting women in jail for 3 years is going much too far as a punishment for abortion, I am not quite sure why this stops them from being faithful Catholics? Again, I so,wish abortion was not a political matter!
The pope is woefully mistaken to diminish the role of cultural identity and faith. St. John Paul II emphasized the role of culture as the medium or slurry from which faith is born precisely because it is the warp and woof of the fabric of a people's self-identity. George McLean, OMI insisted that Vatican II gave awareness that culture itself is born of a dialogue between a people and the Holy Spirit who is present everywhere and every time, no matter the actual religion or faith content of the belief. That the Spirit reveals and speaks itself through the cultural medium is even obvious in the diversity of faith expression. There is a great difference between the English and the Welsh or the Spanish and the Portuguese in their daily and faith expression. The Jews, like Hanna Arendt, clearly say that the allied Italian and German militaries during WWII, treated them completely differently, and she insists it was their cultural and historical differences. Hungary and Poland have suffered none of the cultural ambiguities or anxieties of Germany, Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, etc, and we must ask why. I am know among my religious congregation for my intense work with immigrant and have been interviewed twice by PBS. My parishes were havens for the undocumented, even challenging immigration authorities, but I have been in 63 countries, and I know no country that doesn't monitor its borders and control the influx of immigration. Look at the Vatican's own rigid immigration control. Why is Denmark now willing to pay for the repatriation of its recent immigrants? Immigration is indeed a right, but every rights come with obligations on the part of those exercising those rights. There is also a right to one's culture and security. In diminishing the role importance of identity, the country eliminated the medium of faith, and look at the faith in Europe, Canada and the USA today. There is good reason why these governments are becoming more despotic as never before. Australia is once again a penal colony, and the US president said personal freedom must be sacrificed. Like Greta Thunberg, Francis is impulsive and speaks with an authority he does own, not even as Supreme Pontiff, but he's said precious little about the brutal suffering of the Uighur, Falun Gong or Christians since the Vatican has made a pact with CCP authorities. I've spent time in China at symposia and conferences giving lectures at universities and academies on the critical nature of the culture-faith nexus, especially in Judeo-Christianity which contains the very foundation and rationalization of human dignity, justice, unalienable rights and freedom. This is also found in the Analects of Confucius which allows a dialogue of mutual respect. The Chinese are a great people and want this dialogue, and the government has permitted it. This pope is imperious, disrespectful and non-dialogical in his public statements about world leaders and toward those in the Church who respectfully disagree with him This pope does feel he needs to explain anything, maybe because he knows too little or is too arrogant. He doesn't instruct as a father; he reacts, belittles publicly and imposes like a despot. It is grosero y sin vergüenza, maleducato e senza vergogna - in a word, sad.
Rev.Witch G.Thunberg or Laudato Si (of this Pope-Clown)is an ..authority for you? Maybe u know Confucious but for sure u don't know Aristotle, and divine logical principles (and mathematics)
