I so happy for you sir. My sister owned one of these when I was a kid. She is 7 years older than me and I was around 12 when she had hers. It was the same color as the one you have.
My adoptive dad had a 73 Lemans Sport coupe. He bought it brand new. It lasted thru 3 family members. What a fast nice car it was. This 74 is spotless.
Our hand me down was a '70 Lemans Sport 2 door hardtop, bright red.350 with a better cam & 4 barrel.I had it originally, was passed down through both my brothers. We had that car over 10 years.
The most gorgeous car ever I had in 1978 in September after I came from USA my older brother bought me this 1975 grand lemans especial edition with two tone light lemon &olive green and it was the most clean car I had wonderful car brand
Your car is very nice. My brother purchased a 1974 Pontiac Grand Am Custom (similar shape to the car in this vehicle). It was burgundy with a white semi-vinyl top and white interior, and had all of the trim along with trim rings on the pressed 5-spoke wheels. He and his wife didn't own it long, but what a magnificent looking vehicle.
I wish I had my '73 Lemans GT back. It was all black with the white GT stripes and had a 350 2bbl with a manual 3-speed on the floor. White interior. For a big heavy car with that package it still ran great and would smoke the tires on the factory Rally wheels. I really loved that car!
2:52 I have right now a 1974 Pontiac Lemans sport coupe. It has a rebuilt #matching 400ci and 4spd tranny. Factory rims/cooper cobras all around. I was planning on restoring her.
Sweet car! Never knew they existed. In 1983 I turned 16 and bought my first car. It was a ‘75 LeMans Sport Coupe in Cameo white with basically the same interior as this one. Had a 350 2bbl. Absolutely loved it. Wish I still had it. I still have the sale agreement when I bought it from a neighbor!
Absolutely beautiful car. I'd be proud also. I also live in CT, eastern part of the state. I want a colonnade Pontiac for myself. Growing up, the family car was a 65 GTO. until dad got a wagon. My first ride was a 72 LeMans, 4 door , blue, with the ohc 6. I miss it still.
Colonade’s are so under appreciated. Mid size. Comfortable, look great. Can do anything with power options. So hate I sold mine after 13 years. Beautiful car BTW
That's a ridiculously awesome car. I hope he keeps it in immaculate condition. People like him are keeping the greatest cars in history from going extinct. There should be a minor holiday for guys like him.
Era I grew up in, remember these as a kid , Exactly, grew up in the same era 67-79 . Now being 55 I've got my 73 T- Bird , black over burgundy, 429 4 bbl. Ahhh how I miss the 70s. That's when Detroit used to build cars WE wanted, remember those days????
I had one , but a Coupe Sport, It was same red with a white interior with bucket and long consol , It also had side widows loovers, I loved it and should have kept that one....too .
This car came out of my home plant. I hired in in 76 & heard stories of guys following their Le Mans down the line when being built & having GTO drive trains & other upgrades added . Wink Wink
Thank you for this, the 1973-77 LeMans was my favorite of the other GM Colonades, unfortunately was overshadowed by the Cutlass and Malibu(close second). The pronounced 'pontoon' fenders/quarters really gave the coupes a sporty look, and those honeycomb wheels was the icing on the cake! LeMans Safaris were just as sweet that emphasized luxury, but get one without the faux wood grain, raised letter tires on Rally ll's (or honeycombs) and it's a sporty wagon!
Awesome! My very first car was a '74 Lemans Sport Coupe. 350 with 2bbl, turbo-350 auto transmission. It was my grandmother's car before it got handed down to my older sister and then to me. My dad had it repainted from a factory yellow color to a burgandy color that looked pretty much exactly like the car in this video. I wish I'd never gotten rid of that car. 🍻
Surprised they didn't make more of these, they look fantastic. Probably most people went for the firebird that year they looked terrific too. And likely were cheaper.

I'm so bummed out lol. I'm in PA and have a 74 Firebird Formula. Was excited to try and see this beauty in person! It's Bethlehem CT. Arrrrrrrgh!!!! Guess I won't be seeing you at any shows around here.... I love those stripes-stunning. That is one good looking car from every angle. Wow.
This was a great video! Thank you for sharing this beautiful pontiac! I can remember getting tomy pocket cars at the local Ben Franklin everytime we went in there when I was a kid. Great memories.
My first car also was a 74 Lemans Sport Coupe, back in 78 when I was 16, had 42.000 miles, The Same burgundy color & Same Color interior with burgundy vinyl top, 350 2 barrel Auto column shift, oh the memories!
I was also a hot rodder in the mid-late 60s during the original musclecar era, but by the mid-70s my interest in this type of car had cooled so I never noticed any 70s era LeMans GT back in the day. This car would've caught my eye back then just as it does now. Beautiful example of a very rare model. Shame about the bad engine; that kind of deception seems to be common anymore with people selling collectible cars. I suppose Mecum would just say "it's sold as-is; buyer beware"
Very nice. Gotta love gm A bodys especially 73 74. And this coming from a Ford guy😆. 2 years ago I picked up a 74 Buick Century and am in process of restoring. Same rear window. The curve of the trunk line to bumper is the best on Buicks and Pontiacs. Bad ass!
This was my brother's first car and he had bucket seats in it though and it was an automatic. I was pretty young at the time but I definitely remember how cool it was and I'm sure he still wishes he had it today.
that is gorgeous...never knew about the GT...maybe it came about because the GTO for that year was Ventura-based and people still wanted a cool A-body. one of my bucket list cars is a 73 GTO with a 4 speed (they are out there!), but this would do just fine too.
That would be a good reason for the GT in 1974. What puzzles me is why they also had a GT in 1973. It's nice to have choices, but I never understood the reason for a 73 GT when there was already the 73 GTO, plus the 73 Grand Am. Maybe it was for somebody wanting something sportier looking, but with the smaller 350P engine, instead of the 400 engine that was the base engine for the GTO and GA, with 455 optional on them.
My guess is this is a continuation of the insurance fighter GT-37 of a couple years prior. I’m not sure but would be willing to bet a 400 could have been had in this car. Perhaps even a 455 auto. Regardless this is a beautiful and rare car.
I had one a 1973 400 4 speed canadian-built in Oshawa Ontario. I owned it for 40 years and while I was in the hospital in 2022 a neighbour complained about it and it was towed away as an abandoned vehicle. I finally got out of the hospital in May 2022 not even knowing that this happened and my car was gone. I could not afford to get it out of the impound lot so I had to let it go after 41 years. It was a really good car he was a really good friend. They made twelve of them up here in Canada.
My father and I looked at this exact car for sale years ago. After reviewing we passed. Looks good though. My father special ordered a 1974 luxury lemans with a 400, 4 speed and bench seat. Car was Honduras maroon in and out. Even had fender skirts. Car sadly went to junk yard in late 80s after it was beyond rusted out. Was daily driven in chicago. Found out later it was 1 of 11.
I grew up in Hingham Massachusetts. I remember a white 70 Buick GSX, a daily driver, in a driveway on Scotland Street very clearly until one day in 1974 when a white 1974 Lemans GT had taken its place. Like the GSX, that Lemans was daily driven, and not garaged at night. After about 5 years, in its last days, I remember it had a bunch of grey primer spots on it, looked like initial door ding repair or something. And then it was gone, replaced by something pathetic that I do not remember.
Nice it's a 4spd!!!! We just picked up a 70 Lemans Gt a week ago. It's a survivor and in great shape. Someone threw a Pontiac 400 in her and ditched the 350. Only rust on the car is the typical around the rear window. Its gonna be a the Boss's Daily.....
I was there when these were new - and I cannot ever remember seeing one before this video. Not surprising given the low production numbers. I really like the side stripes.
Totally awesome. You live in such a beautiful area there in Connecticut. You look like youre close to my age. I was born in 67 and for my first 10 years I lived in Wilton, CT. I've been crazy about cars all my life, same as you. I didn't have a lot of respect for these 70s cars back in the day but some of them have changed my mind and your car is one of them. I love the body lines, in spite of the giant bumpers. All the annoying government interference made it so hard for American Car companies to design beautiful cars but they were able to pull it off, anyway in some instances.
I owned a 1975 sport coupe with a 400 4 barrel and a 4 speed.. The car looked like a beater i paid 400 bucks for it.. I use to piss off all my friends with their mint cars and leave them in the dust... I have been looking for another Lemans but i need a 4 speed.. Your car is mint!!
I like this car. I have a similar one. One of two made as documented by General Motors of Canada. Canadian built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, 1974 Pontiac LeMans sport coupe, 400 4-speed, dual exhaust, bucket seats, centre console, full gauges including the 8,000 rpm tick tock tach, 3.42 posi rear end, no power steering, no power brakes, no air conditioning, no heater, no radio, no carpeting, just a rubber floor like a pickup truck, NACA hood, 14 inch rally II wheels with trim rings. Black vinyl interior with a Gulfmist Aqua exterior. I have owned this car since march 17th 1981 when I was in grade twelve high school. All numbers matching. Engine, Muncie M20 transmission and 4BBL carburator. 37,286 miles and still has the original T3 headlights. The other one which is Slate Green resides just up west of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I loved it the day I bought it and I still love it today. Thanks for sharing your video. I wish TH-cam had more of them.
Holy cats! You have an Undercover Grand Am there. Never seen one optioned with so many "Deletes"! Very unusual -this was usually for a car that was ordered for racing. Amazing you still have it - obviously for a lifetime. Too cool.
I grew up a Ford guy and still love my Fairlanes, Galaxies and Torinos, but post 73 to 81, I love Pontiac. The only GM brand I ever liked. I own 66 Fairlane HT, 67 Fairlane Convertible, 63.5 Galaxie 4spd, 72 Pontiac Firebird, and 2 79 Silver anny T/As. This GT is a sweet looking ride. GM Killed the wrong brand in 09.
I have not seen a 74 like this in a very long time - let alone a 4 speed! My best friend had this same car when he turned 16, was a 400 2 barrel auto - same color with white bench interior, and I believe his had a hard top. All of them very rare - almost none left these days. Love the GM A body colonade style, I have a 74 Buick Century GS 455 myself. Thanks for posting! Pontiac and Rod bearings.....yes sir been there. My other old car is a 1970 Tempest GT37 with 400 4 speed. I learned the hard way on Pontiac motors. The oil pump / pan / pickup is ok for general use, but if you are going for any amount of performance or drive it hard - a better pan / oil pickup is super beneficial! I found when I would hold 3rd gear during long sweeping RH turns the oil pressure would dive to Zero (oil pump cavitates). I took out a rod bearing on my nicely rebuilt 400, and a 2nd replacement 350 the SAME way. After fixing the 400 again and putting in the new pan and pickup no troubles at all. I can now dive into corners as fast as I want and no drop in oil pressure. Really nice car there....I see you drive her real "nice" , she should hold up just fine.
My first car was a 1971 Pontiac GT-37, red, gold striping, 400 4barrel, 3 speed on the floor, 3:55 10 bolt posi. Full instrumentation, dual sport mirrors, rally rims, and drum brakes! The drum brakes sucked. My next door neighbor was the original owner of a light blue 1974 Lemans GT. 350 2 barrel, auto, bucket seats, console, and had the sporty rear window slats, but not the GTO style hood this guys car has. The last I knew, but this was at least 15 years ago, he still owned it. I doubt he does now.
@@stevesweet6642 Pretty cool first car! The GT37 and LeMans GT and Sport models are finally getting their due...! My first girlfriend had a 72 Lemans Gold with the GT stripe 350 2bbl. It was a fun snappy car, I ended up buying it from her and drove it a few years. What awesome and fun cars... Pontiac / Olds / Buick - loved the BOP's.
@@gt-37guy6 Honestly, you're the first person I've found that has also owned a GT-37! I ended up blowing the 10 bolt rear end and buying a 1971 GTO, 400 4 barrel, m-22, 3:90 12 bolt posi. Should have kept the GT-37, but ended up parting it out, and putting the motor in my 1973 Catalina, as the 350 in that was getting tired. Oh well, I was 19 years old then! I'll be 60 this month, so when you're young you make mistakes. The 72's were nice cars as well!
@@stevesweet6642 Yes, indeed. I have a book with the exact numbers (stored in my car...lol) seem to recall actual production number was less than 10 ! In 1970 Top engine in GT-37 was 350 horse WT 400, Ram Air III block / heads with the standard GTO cam and exhaust manifolds. We don't know how many though, no totals ever given by Pontiac, which sucks - it is the engine I have.
These are cool cars, hey buddy had one of these back in the day it had the big engine in it, worked on one of these in the shop had to replace the hood, kept the old hood and cut the hood vents out engrafted those vents into a hot rod project.

Poor Man's GTO - nice. the 1970 front end is 1 year only bumper and grill - I think is the coolest ever. I have 1970 Tempest.
1974 was last year for dual exhaust and leaded gas. I was 25 back then. I do not ever remember seeing one of these.
Beautiful car that has ended up with a worthy owner.
That car is beautiful
I owned a 1975 sport coupe with a 400 4 barrel and a 4 speed.. The car looked like a beater i paid 400 bucks for it.. I use to piss off all my friends with their mint cars and leave them in the dust... I have been looking for another Lemans but i need a 4 speed.. Your car is mint!!
Great find.
I'd love to see photos of both cars. The particular maroon one in this video was also built at the Oshawa plant.
Holy cats! You have an Undercover Grand Am there. Never seen one optioned with so many "Deletes"! Very unusual -this was usually for a car that was ordered for racing. Amazing you still have it - obviously for a lifetime. Too cool.
Damn that sounds and looks nice:)
Thank you man, I appreciate that!
Sweet ride!
A friend of mine had a 75 Lemans GT coupe "Canada Cup" edition. Drove from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Oshawa, Ontario, and picked it up at the factory.
Very nice car. I had a 1971 Lemans GT. Very hard to find.
Gorgeous car love it
I grew up a Ford guy and still love my Fairlanes, Galaxies and Torinos, but post 73 to 81, I love Pontiac.
That's a beautiful car I've seen a couple of these in my lifetime.
Gorgeous!
@@gt-37guy6 I saw this, did not know a regular T-37 could come with a 455 H.O.

Beautiful Poncho!
That’s one gorgeous car. I had a 1976 Pontiac Lemans that I bought on the street for $700 that was 1987. For my birthday my dad had it painted red. My mother had a silver Pontiac grand lemans, 1977. That, and the Grand Prix have always been my favorite Pontiacs.
That is a sweet car!
Awesome, love the 4 speed with the bench seat !
I'm a Mopar fan, but I always liked the lines of those Pontiacs from the mid 1970s.
I'm a Mustang guy but love all old muscle cars and that thing is sweet!
Pontiac made some real nice cars RIP
Cool car. Never heard of it. Looks great!
Super super kool...man some wide 60s on some 8 inch cragars
I once owned a 1975 LeMans Sport Coupe
That is one beautiful Pontiac!
Beautiful LeMans!
Those wheels look Bad Ass can't believe they are OEM
