  • Today I take a closer look at another of the spheres of magic, this time it is Entropy, the sphere of chance and fate and decay.

I love how humans in the world of darkness are basically the orks in 40k

I am not familiar with 40K. I mean I know what it is but the lore and such I have never looked into.

Look What I Found basically the orks believe something and it happens for example if they think that painting something red will make it go faster than that will happen

Wait.....that does sound familiar now that I think about it. And yeah that's pretty accurate. Belief is a powerful force.

Man, I wish you had one of these up for Spirit already. I'm the designed spirit guy in our mage game and the entire sphere goes alllllllll the way over my head.

Hahaha! Have patience, I will be getting to Spirit eventually. Spirit can definitely be a tricksy sphere.

Well I look forward to it. Any quick tips in the meanwhile?

Excellent! Hmm....quick tips for Spirit, I'm assuming. The Spirit sphere, naturally, deals with the ephemeral, spirits and the spirit world. While sections of the spirit world can indeed look similar to the mortal world (same goes for spirits) one thing to always keep in mind is that the spirit world and spirits are distinctly alien. A prime example is that distance is not really a thing so much as intent and the journey itself. A spirit may look human but it isn't and generally speaking won''t act like one. When thinking of spirits try to imagine what a spirit of a thing might want. And expect any dealings with spirits to involve a trade of favors or other forms of chiminage (basically offerings to appease a spirit.)

how would you use Entropy as a gunslinger type character to make your shots hit more accurately? My dice are terrible, I want to use Entropy to make my dice rolls more reliable

There are a couple of different ways to use Entropy to manipulate combat rolls. The first you can do is use Entropy 2 to influence the probability that you'll hit your target. You can, with Storyteller approval, use Entropy to allow for rerolling of dice. I would rule that for every two successes on the magic roll you could reroll one dice. But you'd have to keep the second rolls, even if they were worse.
Alternatively you could use Entropy 2 to lower the difficulty of a particular shot. Again I'd say lower the difficulty by one for every two successes on the magic roll. Because aiming and firing a gun is a highly patterned action it is more difficult to manipulate.

@@PravisWheelhouse I have an Etherite mage with Matter, Entropy, Prime, and Correspondence. He should be a sharpshooter with that list, but instead in a state of panic he materialized a frying pan to hit a vampire. >_

So if Life Sphere can detect health of a living creature, isn't then that Matter Sphere can do the equivalent with inanimate objects? Understanding if an object is at its best or in a state of decay? Not sure why it has to be entropy when Life and Matter should have that.

I tend to rule in my games that there is a bit of overlap. Entropy being the Sphere about the state of decay in things can naturally easily detect flaws and weak points in a pattern. Where Life and Matter would respectively give you a feel for how healthy a living thing is or how stable and solid a non-living thing is.

I play a Euthanatoi with Entropy 4 in a crossover game. I think the ST is regretful allowing me to play a luck Mage. Everything goes my way. It's a lot of fun.

    • @PravisWheelhouse
      @PravisWheelhouse  7 ปีที่แล้ว

That sort of character can definitely be a lot of fun, but don't forget, luck swings both ways. ^,~ If your ST is devious he might be lulling you into a false sense of security.

Look What I Found That's possible, but it seems he is playing up the Fate/Destiny part and has had some significantly powerful spirits comment on how my character is destined for something great. He also allowed me to take the Charmed Existence merit. I think I've got some epic Herculean task he's planned out that I'll have to accomplish sometime in the future.

    • @PravisWheelhouse

Hmmm, that definitely sounds like it, yes. Of course that means that when the task comes and you accomplish it, all that luck is probably going to go out the window. Still, sounds like a fun ride while it lasts!
