at this point i would like for her to do 2 motherships a year, one safe mainstream gold pink release if thats what sells and then one more colorful mothership that shows her creativity...

Yes, what your videos shows so well is what so much of us are saying/thinking, that you can dupe the new mothership with existing motherships. And I think if you go into quads and other non-motherships from Pat McGrath, you could possibly one hundred percent dupe the new mothership.
Pat McGrath constantly does repeat shades too it drives me crazy. For example some of the larger holiday pallettes had 18 shades or something and only 6 were new. Every time she releases something I have to look up the shade name to find out how many of them are repromotes. It's so frustrating.
Your dupe is remarkably close, but your version of Sunlight Seduction Mothership XI is killer!

I'd love to see Pat do a companion palette to Subversive and amp up the grunge. I'm passing on XI but your version is a much more versatile mix, especially with the addition of Oxidize.
YES Subversive haunts me to this day! I think it’s one of the most beautiful and intriguing palettes, I still would love to own it tbh. it seems like it’s always out of stock when they’re having one of their big sales. Would love to see something with that same vibe

I really like seeing your approach to layering, it makes me reconsider how I use my singles collection and how i layer things. I tend to be very basic in my approach to layering but you pair things really creatively with some fantastic results.
I’ve recently been way more experimental with layering and it’s so much fun! I wasn’t sure if people would actually be interested in seeing that part so thank you for letting me know :D

Yes! Why aren't the creative teams hiring you to develop the colour stories? This is perfect! It's a thematic palette and yet still wearable.

I like your reinterpretation as a palette, but tbh that feels more appropriate for Moonlit Seduction than Sunlit Seduction. Besides this new palette being too similar to past ones, that's my other big gripe. Moonlit Seduction should not be as warm, pink and gold leaning as it is. That was a chance for PML to go back to cooler shades (cool greys, navies, icy purples, etc) and they dropped the ball completely, leading to the redundant fest we currently have.
I also recreated the palette and added plums and oranges and duo/multichromes with a strong red/orange shift to bring out the more tropical sunset vibes.
Interesting! My interpretation of moonlit seduction would be completely different than the palette I created in this video.

I love your version!!! It's soooo good and also all those layering combos with Cold Brew are stunning!! I've been doing a lot of that type of layering in my day to day looks lately
I think more than the tired color story, it's the way they handled the criticism on it that just baffles me. They deleted any comment that was remotely critical of the palette or the brand, even comments that weren't rude or agressive. This tells me that it's a brand that only wants positive feedback, and if they're going to treat their loyal customers like that, then it's not worth it to go through the hassle of ordering from them.
I think everyone should just create their own ideal Mothership palette using eyeshadows or palettes they already own. Pink is just not a color that works on everyone, unlike what some people would have you believe.
I hadn’t l heard about that, but tbh I’m not surprised. IIRC they did something similar with the “sticker gate” situation regarding the Star Wars version of Mothership 6 recently. I LOVE pinks and mauves but I don’t need 100000 versions of the same pinky mauve shades in palettes lol
I had to take a break from Pat Mcgrath because all her palettes look the same. It really it disappointing. I would definitely buy your version. This gives me a chance to create my BYOP when skipping her release.
Your version is soooo much better! You still have the requisite pink and gold 😂 but the rest of the color story is gorgeous.
I would do a soft neutral, a darker green, and a mid toned peachy-orange for the mattes and then textured shimmers in green, orange-gold, a light neutral, something blue that shifts maybe orange (like when the sun dips in the sea), warm green, something nude but a bit more deep-unsure of how warm/cool, and a smoother duochrome shifting between white-orange instead of the top right shade. I'm closer to your colours, I'm thinking dry wheat, green trees in the warm sun, beachscapes upon sunset, and sunkissed skin.

I like your color story on your second palette. Love the Cliona shades (wish they were a little cheaper). Also really like the Terra Moons shades. I honestly don't think you nailed the color story of the first as a dupe (no offense intended at all). I just think the colors are leaning much pinker and deeper than you have and you could've duped the lavender shade better with Pat's "lavendering" shade (forgot which mothership that one is in). I think her palette is a lot more like the Bridgerton pink looks and the all matte palette, than her mothership color stories... but yes, she's been repeating herself a lot lately. It's also a lot like Natasha Denona's pink color stories. Your actual look on the eye is also very beautiful. I definitely would get your version of the palette though, it's really interesting.
Thanks! Yeah, I did acknowledge that I could be way off lol. It’s so hard to tell with just one swatch photo. Not familiar with the shade lavendaring, I don’t have every mothership though. I’m very curious to see more swatches once people start sharing content with the palette!

I find it funny that half of your proposed dupes are from PMG itself. It was already clear that they produce similar palettes but like to see that time and time again confirms if you own like 2-3 PMG palettes, you kind of own them all.
I feel like the left six shades are almost interchangeable in most of the motherships and even some of the the “special shades” are starting to feel redundant :(

I Iove your take on what sunlit seduction should be. However, what is the total cost of those shades? PML has actually lowered the cost of the motherships. I’m in the uk and it’s gone from £125 to £98. With the discount at launch £90 and that includes international shipping and taxes to the uk. The express shipping etc would cost around £40 and so realistically what can be put together for the cost of £50? When you factor in the packaging also. I ordered with the 30% off and got it delivered to the uk for £69. I’m not mad at it. It’s a good companion palette. 💖
Building a palette out of singles will never be cheaper than buying a premade palette lol. The point was for me to build something with stuff I already have rather than buy something new. I’m glad she lowered the prices!
please don't waste your doll hairs. haha. I loved your version! I am not on the pat mcgrath fandom and don't own any of the motherships, but I feel like they are quite limited in what they offer... they all have similar highlight shades and a gold special shadow, three neutral mattes, one dark, two midtone. a few shimmer shades and then only 3 unique looking special shades that don't really touch the intensity and craziness of indie multichromes. just seems boring no matter the theme.
How did you depot the Pat shadows without breaking them? Especially the mattes.
I definitely broke some of the mattes lol but I basically just heated up the back with a hair tool to loosen the glue and pried them out with an x-acto knife! Hautemess Tom just posted a video where they used basically the same method th-cam.com/video/a3tzvIAP2dc/w-d-xo.html

Your palette turned out wonderful; however, there's always a shade or two in Pat's palettes that one would be lost without, case in point, my favorite shade in Huetopian Dream is the shade Cosmic Bloom, unfortunately I spilled beer on the palette 2 days after receiving it. For two years I've talked myself out of buying a new one, but I caved in and bought another one last week on Mercari!
Just in case, I'm buying the new palette when it goes on sale, It might have a "to die for" shade!
I’m really excited to see more swatches / content on the new one! the swatches on the website never tell the full story, esp. for the special shades. I am probably going to end up picking it up at some point if it goes 30-40% off lol

It’s an eyeshadow! Huldra from Ensley Reign cosmetics. I just put on a clear base coat, brushed the eyeshadow on, and then put on a top coat!
