I stayed up until 2 am and I still haven't slept lmao but this is hands down my favorite song from the love yourself series. They hyped it up themselves and I was kind of doubting it would be that different but wow!!!! They murdered everyone, ARMY and non-ARMY. And Bighit really dropped all new fanchants lol

This is fused with South African beats as well as traditional Korean music. The big colored things you see are also part of Afro-Brazilian culture :)
i think some of the big colored things might be a fusion as well? at least the ones walking around on four legs seem to be based on the lions used in 사자춤 but maybe decorated with afro-brazilian influence

The video is a mixture of Korean culture and African/Afro Brazilian culture. The suits they're wearing are ankara (Nigerian) inspired. The music is a blend of Afrobeats, EDM, & Latin Pop. They bust out gwara gwara a South African dance, the dancers "the big things" LOL are called Maracatu, from Brazil. The chants like "urusoo" (sorry if spelling is off) are Korean, as well as the hanboks obviously. It's meant to look like carnival, a celebration of them loving themselves with ARMY from all over the world. xx
The shirt V was wearing, one of their interviewers wore it shortly after he did and was joking about how ugly it was lol I wonder if that’s why he wore it along with the glasses 🤷♀️

i've watched the mv multiple multiple times now, even in a few of my classes at school and i love it sm. It has a totally different sound from any of their previous title songs and just wow... they did not disappoint at all.
Bts actually took some influence from the African culture with this theme. Along with Korean. Ugh, THEIR MINDS.

one of my favorite sayings that I heard from an old lady (self described) was "what you think of me is none of my business". I carry that thought with me all the time and was reminded of it again when I saw this mv. love it :)
What I took from it and what everyone else might have noticed as well.
1.DNA was colorful and happy, it was the beginning of a love.
2. Fake love was obviously them realizing that they had a mask on the entire time and it was fake love which is why the video was so dark (I'm stating the obvious but)
3. This songs MV is colorful again and even more colorful now, because they truly do love themselves and have accepted. themselves at full force,the song like RM says almost feels like a celebration, they are carefree and intact with their own true selves now that they have achieved the most important and the biggest love you can find. The love in yourself. Obviously it seems like the video might have some hidden signs but I've watched the video like 40 times and have no solid theories that make sense lol. But what BTS did with this series was truly amazing and inspirational, they portrayed the development so perfectly. I love these guys So much.

The rabbit on the moon is a reference to a couple years ago when V said that he believed rabbits live on the moon
its referring to korean folklore its not a reference to V, taehyung was speaking about the folklore when he said that
so i figured out the concept of the video, (actually i read it somewhere)
- The MV is so flamboyant and colorful and the cgi is bad bc this is the stereotype of Korean IDOLS and MV's and Kpop in general and they're there to break that with lyrics and dance and sound bc it doesnt sound like the "average kpop song" theyre making fun of it and saying fuck you we still do what we want because we love ourselves. i read somewhere, that this song is a mixture of Korean instrumentals and South African beat. And their suits are also made out of South African prints or something like that. They were mixing both cultures in this video, as you can see they were also wearing the Hanbok which is a traditional korean gown of sort. Totally awesome that they did this

I KNOW RIGHT??!!! Someone commented TO TAEHYUNG, during his VLive that he doesn't look good wearing glasses. THE NERVE!!!!!!!! He read it and wore it anyway. I think it stayed with him though. He seems to take criticisms to heart (like people hating his "mullet"/long hair). Although he didn't conform to the haters, he remembers them. it must be hard on him, who in real life is loved by everybody. Other BTS members dote on him all the time, his friends love him and a lot of other idols look up to him. Well, this is his way of saying 'I don't care what you think'.
the reason why the mv was so crazy was because people say that they don’t like kpop bc they have no idea what’s going on on the mv so they played around with that idea and used it to mock their haters. the reason why there are a lot of heads of them was because of the stereotype that “they all look alike” when it comes to the BIG ASS SIM CHARACTERS, people say that people from kpop are fake, so they used that to symbolize that idea.

Yeah, an interviewer (the first American to do a decent BTS interview) named Zach Sang was wearing a shirt just like that and he said that it was an ugly shirt, but that he wanted BTS to sign it so he could auction it off to give to their UNICEF campaign . What was funny though was somebody found a picture of Tae wearing the same shirt, but with blue stripes and green hearts on it. Now Tae's wearing the exact same shirt.
