    And here’s me, an 18st 6’1 lump, dreading digging out a 15sqm area of soft soil by hand because it’s close to a few trees while you’ve basically opened your own miniature quarry by hand - don’t I feel put to shame lol. Grand job by the way.

      Lol, it did feel like that 😂 Now would be the perfect time to do yours before the soil dries up. I started in June iirc and it had been dry a good few weeks, so have a go soon whilst it’s still easy 😂💪

    Have to admit that we sat in the garden next door and thought how crazy committed you were to be building during the heatwave! The video simply doesn't show how extremely hot it was the entire time.

      I can't believe I was in jeans! Though I remember wearing them to stop my white legs burning haha and preferred to work after lunchtime once the sun had moved round. It was a glorious time to work in the garden - much nicer than freezing December when I was finishing it off!

      Thanks for watching Geoff. I actually really enjoyed doing the sand and cementing (not the digging haha!). It was clearly a very messy result, but looking forward to when I get the opportunity to do some more again. I used to make wedding cakes and it reminded me a bit of icing all the layers of cake! 😂 Karen

    Seriously hard work! I really admire what you've taken on and set your mind to achieve. It's really tricky levelling across such a large span...great job! Ps. Great work recycling too, I love that 💪

      Thanks Ian. I completed the build 75% me and 25% my husband when I couldn’t physically continue by myself, eg raising the walls and installing the ceiling plasterboard. Lost a stone in weight along the way! Stay tuned for more vids. Thanks for watching. Karen

      Hard work, but very satisfying to see the space taking shape after months of planning. Check back at the end of the week for the next part. Thanks for watching. Karen

    Hi Karen, loving this series thank you so much for recording and editing it all, i plan to make something almost identical so this is a lifesaver, is the 7.2 x 4.5 size to make certian materials fit easier with less cutting or is this just the size you wanted? i was planning around 7x4 so based on your experience of osb etc would be great to know!

      Hi there, thanks for watching. Anything bigger than an internal area of 30sqm in our local area requires building control to get involved, so the size we chose was purely to get the maximum sized room under 30sqm internally. You can order your wood to minimise cuts, but we wary that wood sizes advertised online aren't necessarily what you get. Our 4m lengths were actually 4.02m iirc, so I suggest measuring up in store before you buy, or to ask the online retailer for exact measurements before you draw up your plans. HTH. Karen

    Jeez Karen what do you do for a day job... Female Rambo or something? That is some tough work you're doing there. Your homemade siv for a start, I do the same thing with a much smaller one and it is hard work - much respect!

      Haha! I slept well at the time 😂 I think the reason why digging out took so long wasn’t just because of the heat and dry ground, but recycling all that top soil. There was no point paying to have it removed and then paying to buy more in at a later date. Without all the stones it was actually really nice soil! 💪😄

    Hi, this is fantastic. Very inspiring. I’m intending trying to emulate you’re great work. May I ask, and perhaps a silly question. How did you get rid of the excess soil/waste?

    • @OurHomeProjects
      @OurHomeProjects  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for watching. As we are on a slope I raked most of the earth/stones downhill to level the plot a little. I also found other parts of the garden to dump sieved soil. I appreciate others will have smaller or flat gardens so if you can’t find a flowerbed to top up, then you might need to have it removed. HTH and good luck with your project.

      They didn't bother to watch your video, don't reply to idiots

      @@christianwithers7335 wow, not sure that attack was justified from a simple question, however, if you get your kicks from unnecessary attacks, crack on.
      However, for full awareness; I did watch the video, but as someone completely new to landscaping/gardening etc, I wanted to ask the SME advice. Personally, I would call it education (for me), but you do you.
