I bought the magic gem 2 weeks ago and absolutely love it but now I got to work on hitting my mark every time I'm still working on that one but this ball has helped my league score a lot better I think.
Still thinking about getting one, but closer everyday to pulling the trigger. When I do AP (Kris Prather's father) will punch holes in it over here in Pensacola for me at AP's Pro Shop in Deluna Lanes. Great review. Rolling an Exotic right now and need something a little more aggressive for my lower revs in slicker conditions.
😅It's funny that everyone hypes this ball up. I baught one. Ever since I got it drilled it has not been a good performer for me. I tried to give it a second chance tonight and bowled 6 games with it. I shoot a good 20 or 30 pins less than I do with my DV8 Brutal Collision. It's so hard for me to strike with the magic compared to the DV8 it's crazy. Im sure it works great for some people but for me it's a total flop. 😢
I got my Magic Gem via a $5 raffle at a tournament in NC. Did have to pay to get it drilled! Out of the box it is way too strong for my house shot. But gotta believe it will be great for tournaments with some added volume.
I tried this ball at a Matchmaker Demo Day a couple Sundays ago. I had trouble watching it go down the lane because the contrast of colors on the lane hurt my eyes. I struck with it, though.
How close did you drill your thumb hole to the mass bias I drilled my thumb hole on this particular ball grazing the edge of the Mass bias to get the ball further down the lane
I did not buy this from a pro shop. I won it in a ball raffle at my second ever tournament. My first tournament, i won the Eternity PI in a raffle. 20 balls bought and the best were free
Nice video you had me sold until you said NO VOLUME 😅 bowl on a travel league 8 places with 8 bowlers and 10 minutes of practice not much oil left . Nobody plays more left then me and still have to use high rg low diff balls.😅👍
What are your thoughts between the Journey vs this Magic Gem and the DV8 Hellcat? I want to purchase 1 of the 3 for league nights bowling. Now, I'm playing with a Jackall Ambush and average 200. I love my Jackall but want to have another option in my bag. Thank you very much
ive thought about doing a pin down magic gem and it would maybe give me a different look than my already have proton physics, idk what drilling layout but the pin is in the 2o clock position and ppl say its a strong layout, and ive really thought about getting a gem, but of course the OG was kinda the same as the proton it wouldnt be a change but then the exotic but i already have the nuke cell still and i love that, now its the magic gem and ive really thought on pin down possibly. but what would pin down be for me, rev rate 410 and bowling on THS.
I got the magic but still haven’t drilled it yet. All the reviews I have seem so far (except this one) say it is in-between the original and the exotic but not exactly in the middle, that it is much closer to the original than it is the exotic. So I am concerned that it will just be right on top of my extremely lane shined original. What I need to know is just how close to the original is it? Is there still a large enough gap that I am not just duplicating an already drilled ball? I know I could reset the surface on my original (but I really like it where it is now) and I could drill the magic a little weaker to put more space between them. But that’s a lot of extra effort when I don’t know if there’ll really be much of a difference.

The roll looks similar to the Axiom Pearl. How would you compare the two? Axiom Pearl is one of my all time favorites.

Seems like Magic gem doesn't retain as much energy as pi despite similar hook strength, gem seems to be soft while pi hits like a truck, true?
