With some basic mods (coilovers from a tib, stage clutch, light flywheel, custom magnaflow exhaust, header, cai, underdrive pullies, short shifter + full suspension) I easily clocked under 8 seconds (stopwatch) in a 2004 elantra gt 5spd. I miss that car. It was funner to drive than my current 2010 mazda 3s 2.5 6spd (which is still very fun to drive)
Before i bought "Mazda 3" 3 years ago, i ride my corolla. But when i saw mazda, i really like the exterior. and when i test drive it, it's more fun to drive and handling better than corolla :)

Getting Mazda 3 on Tuesday top of the range model '' 2.0L with stop start , Paddle shift so excited went for a test drive the car drives great got really good suspention but felt a little bit jickle when going at low speed but after all this is a good fun car to drive PS. Im here in THAILAND
@launchini100 i agree with u after comparing it with euroncap, although there isn't any new test for the latest focus, the 06 focus beats up the latest mazda 3, though the margin isn't quite big. Imagine it as the latest focus, it would surely be better
@Miloo222 No comp - GTi takes that hands down. Supple but agile chassis, power everywhere, excellent interior, and well, German Engineered. The Mazda 3 is cheaper, but even with the 2.3L motor you can't compete with the GTi's 2.0T motor. The handling, however, is at least on par. I've been able to out-grip/out-handle Civic Si's, Celicas, and kept toe-to-toe with a WRX Impreza through the offramps - in the base-level 3i 2.0L. If it's a MazdaSpeed 3 vs. GTi, well, now we're talkin' competition...

in other country's the mazda 3 only comes in a 2.0 ltr to 2.5 ltr and the interior looks great. the uk got shafted when it comes to this car. plus the manual sell really well. sucks to live in the uk when it comes to the mazda 3
You say that you have new mazda 3, Have you tried to drive toyota corolla 2009 before you bought your mazda? I think to buy a new car in desember or next year, dont know what better corolla or mazda 3!!!

I too choose Lotus Elise over the Porsche/Vette because of handling which is very important to me. I don't care about maintenence prices because I also own an RX-7, you should drive one if you get a chance. Overall I think Mazda makes the best overall lineup of cars (most fun to drive), and Ferrari is just behind for me. Kei

Toyota corolla and Mazda are completely different drives. The suspension on the Mazda 3 is much stiffer giving you much better handling and sportiness while the Toyota has squishy feel to it. I test drove them both before I chose. I chose mazda...
@wd1000 I think you didn't understand me. I meant reliability. In tests are named as the best relliability brands, there is no sign of BMW, Audi, Merc,... But of course, BMW, Audi, Merc are great cars, better then Mazda3 or Focus.

This generation of the Ford Focus required the owner to flip the Ford badge, where the key would be inserted to open the bonnet like a door. It's not broken, then; he only flipped it to open the bonnet. Why? Only Ford knows.
well fyi ford owns about 40% of mazda. the mazda3 is basically a nicer ford focus. just the bigger engine. the 2.0L focus engine is the same 2.0L as in the mazda3. and mazda3 has FOMOCO stamped everywhere on it (ford motor company)

44.8 mpg in the Mazda??? Don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful car and all that, but I own the 2011 and 32 mpg is a more realistic figure. Even the Skyactiv advertises only 42.

Sorry you are so wrong, i recomend you check the facts. The old plataform ford focus was unique in its segment by " 1998" whith an independent multilink rear suspension . The C1 plataform is the result of shared tecnology FORD (dinamics, focus always has been a very good handeling car), MAZDA (engine) and VOLVO (security) , the fine suspension sistem is Ford!!! Europe Ford rules...(do not talk about american ford models but euro ford). Mazda 3 chasis is based on focus!!!

You can see what I mean by reliability, I want from car to drive me from A to B, without any problems. In other case, you buy Porsche's which are the best high-performance cars in world. Again, in reliability :) Middle class worker with limited budget, who has no interest of fun and fast driving, will buy Focus or Mazda3, for reliablitiy.

Bland? The older look was way better. Honestly, without its distinctive size being between the mazda 2 and 6 you cant really tell it is a 3. The cars design is just way too busy now. Ill stick with my 08

mazda 3 bland? Never heard that ever, and why would they say that? G1, G2 and G3 Mazda 3's set the benchmark for other japanese/korean cars.
mazda 3 is superb i own one myself. mine is the saloon version but its awesome.
I have a Mazda 3 sedan and it's a head turner. 110% satisfaction, not just in looks.
just got a 2008 mazda 3 sport with a 2.3 litre... will never go back to my big american v8 this car is awesome
The Mazda 3 has 3 things the Ford will never have that make it unrivalled - "Made in Japan". I know, mine is still going strong after 15 years.
I've got the 2l 2007, mazda 3 5 speed manual. and i can say it can take a thrashing, gets up to 100 quite good for economy car.
Hatchback. Its really amore of a styling Choice. I really like the look of the % door plus it is easier to fit larger items if necessary.

The australian version of the mps has around 270hp stock. And 0 to 60 is fast for a hot hatch.

You know that not once have i said how fast it can go from 0-60. All i have mentioned is the HP.

mazda mps is not ready yeat, it will come soon on market, but it will cost much more than mazda 3.
