Uganda win ❤❤🎉❤ recommend more and more 😅😅 and the lifestyle too is massive 😊 remind them that uganda is the pearl of Africa 🌍 where the nature begins and the rest follows isn't that amazing 🤩🤩 thanks for visiting our land Uganda!!!
We just got back from Uganda and also used Paul at Gorilla O’Clock. He is the best. He seemingly anticipates everything you need in advance and has the personal touch you mentioned. Highly recommend his company!
Your video is sooo good. I felt like I was back in Uganda. We (four women) were also there in June 2021. We also booked through Paul who is now with Monkey O’Clock. We had a different guide, Gordon, who was also excellent. You’re right. They are now friends. The trip was indeed fantastic, and I felt like I was contributing to the conservation efforts taking place in this beautiful part of the world. Just go!!
Thank you so much! So happy to hear that you loved this video! Sounds like we were there right at the same time; it was a very interesting, special, and quiet time to be there. Glad you enjoyed your trip. PS Paul is fantastic and now my go-to for safari trips
Thanks Jeff, your video was so helpful. This Gorilla Trip is no1 on my bucket list. I am nearly 67 years old and must get to take my own Photograph of a Silverback and his family. I will look into your leads.
It seems like a no-brainer to go for a two day gorilla trek if you’re going to go in the first place. Sometimes the gorilla troupes can be up in a tree the whole time so two days would give you a much better chance of seeing them up close. My luck would be that I go for one day and they’re 50 feet up a tree the whole time.
Great video and thanks for the detail information. Since I am not that fit and I am lucky that I heard you mentioned Bahoma to select. Can you tell me what focal lens we should carry?
Excellent video - and we've watched many as we plan our upcoming trip to Uganda! Can you comment on which camera lens(es) you used for the gorillas? Many sites recommend a 70-200 but looks like you were quite close most of the time. Also tipping - thanks for the suggestions. You said 100-200 for guides - is that the gorilla trek guide, or the guide that drove you from place to place? Thanks!
Hi Bryan, I'm glad you found this video helpful! The gorilla footage seen in this video was filmed on a Sony a7iii using a Sony Alpha 70-350 mm lens. For more details and to view my entire wildlife camera set-up, I invite you to look at my storefront page where I have all my gear organized and listed: www.amazon.com/shop/jeff_hyer/list/2S0NRIJLL9A81?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d As for tipping - I was referring to the gorilla trekking guide(s). I always like to be generous when showing gratitude for personalized services like this. Some people might say that's on the high side but I feel $100-$200 split amongst your porters, guides, and trackers is reasonable in my opinion. Their work is not easy and they take careful care of guests.
Thank you for an informative video. Looking into a gorilla trekking holiday. Appreciate the links to gear and am happy that I own most of what you suggested. I do have a question as to lenses. I note in most videos the gorillas can get incredibly close where maybe an iPhone will do. Would you recommend a 70-200 or 24-70 or both ?
@@spokesdog9958 thank you for watching! I’m glad you found this video helpful. I’d be happy to assist in arranging your gorilla trekking experience and safari trip if you need. I invite you to fill out this safari inquiry form to start planning: jeffhyer.com/safari-inquiry-form/ To answer your question, I usually pack all my lens but use my 70-300mm lens the most to get the best closeups of these magnificent animals 😄
Hi - you mentioned that you visited Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania on this trip. What visa did you get? I want to do the same countries and it looks like I need the East Africa visa, and a Tanzania visa. But I’d be flying in/out of Nairobi from the US. So I’d be entering Kenya twice - one coming back from Uganda and one coming back from Tanzania. Any thoughts? Would I be able to do this?
Hello, thank you for your message. I went on a very similar trip where I entered Kenya twice - once from Uganda and once from Tanzania. Your East Africa visa is valid for 3 months, so it should allow you to enter twice without a problem. You will have to obtain the Tanzania visa separately.
Great question! I plan to make a video all about safari travel tipping customs, but to quickly answer your question, I encourage travelers to tip their guides $10-$20 per person, per day for their services :) This goes for both game drive guides in the Masai Mara and Gorilla Tracking guides in places like Rwanda. I hope this helps!
@@marcang4403 amazing! I just went gorilla trekking in Rwanda last week (organized by Paul), the gorillas are excited to meet you! Wishing you a safe and magical journey!

Beautiful photography and informative commentary. Thanks.
love it! It's amazing that care was taken not to transfer covid to gorillas!
They've always been careful of human-gorilla disease transmission, even before COVID. So I don't see them ever dropping the mask requirement.
A very good video---very informative!
