I Survived A Serial Killer || True Crime Recaps Podcast

  • On today's podcast, we will be talking about victims who have survived a serial killer. Three of the women who survived some of the most dangerous serial killers of all time have come out to share their stories. Stories like these are not easy to find because the majority of people who find themselves threatened by a serial killer do not exactly make it out alive, so these stories from Cheryl Thomas, Kathy Kleiner and Lisa McVey Noland are really inspiring, to say the least.

"I have a right to ride a bike at 2 in the morning as I do at 2 in the afternoon." Those are powerful words if you think about it from a womans perspective. They tell us not to be out at night alone. Not to dress "provocative", to carry our keys in our hands in parking lots or carry pepper spray. We have the right to feel safe in any environment. It says that after she told her story to police the 1 officer who actually took her seriously, Mr. Pinkerton, started looking into her family life. Realized she had been abused for years by her grandmother's boyfriend. Further, it does state that he himself arrested him. I cannot find if anything came of it or if he seen an actual cell, but I hope he did. For many, many years.

That girl's boyfriend pulling up to their apartment saved their lives. Freaky stuff can happen to ordinary people. My aunt Mary picked up a hitch hiker that she went to high school with, this was in Semi Valley Ca. I don't remember what she said his name was, but later that week he was one of the guys who participated in Sharon Tate's murder (Charles Manson). Statistically, 4.5% of the adult population are psychopaths. You just never know, you look at Bundy, and serial killer is probably the last thing you think.

This woman isn't a victim, she's a survivor, a warrior! And she helped put that dirt bag away! She's absolutely amazing! Her horrible experiences of abuse and trauma previous to her kidnapping helped save her life- she was in survival mode her whole life and knew how to use her all her senses to preserve abd protect herself. Amazing woman!

Mad respect to all of the survivors. These ladies show that if you keep your wits about you then there's a chance. The Lisa McVey case hit close to home because of how much she went through in and out of her home and still came out not just ok but thrived. You can see it still haunts her, but she shows such great honor telling her story and how close she came. One that also hit REALLY close to home is Kathy Kleiner's story and truthfully to all those survivor stories told here... First to escape Ted Bundy, Bobby Joe Long, and Paul Stephani is something in itself all things considered but what really got to me about Kathy Kleiner's experience is that it was sorority house, the place is filled with people...people going to the bathroom, getting up, still studying, there's also a Den Mother and he STILL got to them despite all that. Yeah, it was the 70's but it still speaks of how bold killers can be and get to people where they feel the safest and at complete ease and that's terrifying. Kleiner's story says that there's nowhere that's completely safe if evil truly wants to get in. Having said that it also proves that those of us doing our daily lives and are on the good and normal side of things despite the hardships can still come through. It's not every day you get to meet the Devil in a fleshy form, come out of it, smile and say i'm still here.
