The era it happened in and also the image he portrayed in his community made that the last place police would suspect

I think that the incompetence of the police played a major role in this monster getting away with his crimes for so long : even after getting his voice on tape, they were still unable to locate him. Apart from the horrific crimes, what is chilling about this case is that he would probably have never been caught if he hadn‘t craved notoriety, through which he made the error of sending the police a floppy disk..😱😨😱 Such people deserve to be Bound, Tortured, and Killed.. just as the victims were.

Well, he was involved in his local church, & had a family which helped him looking like someone that would kill.

Because he seems so utterly normal-from a distance, maintained a double life, and the fact that science hadn’t caught up to crime during his murderous reign.

I've heard and seen a lot of different versions of BTK but I have to say in all honesty that your recap was the best I've heard! You gave the details of his horrendous crimes but it was done with respect to the victims and their families. I always love getting the notification of a new True Crime Recap from Chris and Amy, I haven't seen one video that I haven't liked and I don't think I ever will. Take care and stay safe lots of love from your Aussie friend Ann xoxo

The two of you always do such a great job, especially on using found footage of the cases instead of relying on stock footage! I am particularly impressed by that, this channel and That Chapter are the only true crime channels on TH-cam that don't rely so heavily on stock footage and it really does make the experience and story better, and more gut-wrenching, in most cases.
Thank you both (and any production team you might have) for all you do to pump out such high quality and consistent content, you are so appreciated. Not just by the viewers, but by the victims of these crimes, who deserve to have their names spoken, and their stories told. Be well!!

This guys right here always give me the chills. His story is insane. I hate him because his intent was always to leave a legacy behind and he succeeded because sometimes I do worry about someone just like him breaking in to my own family's house. I'm glad he got caught, I just wish it would have been sooner.

    • @RemyJackson
      @RemyJackson 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Find solice in knowing the legacy he left is not the legacy he had hoped to leave. He wanted to leave the public in fear of him while he hid his true identity behind the BTK moniker. He failed. He is in prison, his face and name are known, and he will never be able to do anyone harm again. His legacy is now a footnote in the story of those he hurt.

Well, while it’s highly ironic (to put it mildly) that Rader worked installing home protection ,
I’m not personally aware that he actually ever victimized any of his clients.
If anything he may have used his knowledge about such to rule out people who had such installed in their homes. 🤔✌️…
    Mr Bright’s survival is impressive.
Without question Rader intended to murder him both times he shot Bright.
Bright was essentially the only person ever attacked by Rader who survived…

I read his daugther's autobiography, and by all accounts, he was a good father.
I feel terrible for his family.
    He hurt them too

Can you look up the Gypsy Gill Killings AKA San Mateo Slasher? This happened right near my parent's house and one of her friends from school was almost a victim but she got away. Not many know about it. I was in Beautiful Pacifica in San Mateo county. It's not near as sick and this case but I think it does need more attention. Thanks for what you do guys, I enjoy every recap.

The poem that he takes credit for is actually mostly stolen lyrics to an actual song called "oh death". It's one of my favorites. I believe the original is from the 1920's . Old Leatherstocking is my favorite version.

What a sick, sick man this is. I had a friend who was going to Wichita State University in the late 70's and if it hadn't been for her, I would have never known about the BTK Killer. I still have the letter where she mentions him. She knew I was a true crime buff who would find the case interesting. But my main concern was for my friend's safety.
I think he got away with his crimes as long as he did because he just looked so bland and ordinary. Back in those days (while Ted Bundy was still on the loose) people had preconceived notions about what they thought a serial killer should look like. He didn't look or act like a monster. The code enforcement job gave him the status and authority he had been seeking all along. So there was really no need for him to kill anymore. But like most serial killers, he discovered once you start, it's hard to stop. His own oversized ego got him caught in the end.

He put bags over their heads while they were dying so why say he enjoyed too see fear. Also I think the fact he had to kill the onteros because he had no mask on was just an excuse..what he did to that little girl was sickening . .
