thank you for your hardwork and choosing to represent the country despite how crappy athletes are treated in this country. will pray for your success. Laban lang Sir EJ.
PATAFA owes him a huge apology for not only giving him lackluster supporting, but also for embarrassing him. Thank you so much to EJ-your passion is really so, so inspiring. Please don’t apologize for anything, we know you’ll bounce back. Please stay healthy and rest from time to time, too. Thank you to Smart for producing these kinds of videos that help us see the athletes candidly. Looking forward to more.
A kid from Tondo who didn't even win in the Palarong Pambansa - how things have evolved. Good luck in the Paris Olympics EJ Obieno. You make your fellow Filipinos proud. Mabuhay.
Ej, you are now my favorite Filipino athlete. I admire your perseverance and you as a person. I wish you nothing but the best and I know you will do well in LA. Always rooting and praying for you. 🙏🏻
I HIGHLY COMMEND THIS DOCUMENTARY ❤ I HAVE NEVER BEEN PROUDER AS A FILIPINO DESPITE THE HARSH REALITIES OF THE CONDITIONS OF BEING A FILIPINO ATHLETE TOGETHER WITH ITS UPS AND DOWNS. I HOPE EJ ULTIMATELY GETS IT IN LA28 AND DON’T STOP INSPIRING OTHER ASPIRING ATHLETES AND FOLLOW COACH VITALY’S STEPS. One of the greatest Filipino Olympians of his time indeed. 👏 🇵🇭
While there are great filipino athletes who choose to represent other countries either because they are only half filipino, given better trainings, citizenship to be local, politics in sports here, EJ is a true Filipino at heart who chooses to hold the Philippine Flag in the world stage. You may not be given recognition as the gilas pilipinas (solid gilas pilipanas here), but you had shown a great pride of nationalism for our flag. For that, I salute you. God Bless, hope you win the gold. Laban. Puso para sa bayan.
The heart of this man for his sport and country is exceptional. Thank you EJ Obiena for bringing such pride to the Philippiines! We are so proud of you and will keep on supporting you! Laban EJ!
Whatever the result EJ, you gave us all your efforts to represent our country in international stage. We support you whatever it takes. Para sa PILIPINAS 🇵🇭 👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏 PUS❤!
grabe, thank you team for creating these documentaries. everything feels so genuine, yung sariling team ni EJ, his story, how he said he'll probably retire when coach does, and coach tearing up with the thought of staying for his boys. it's so nice to have a platform where we can support our athletes who didn't think twice to represent our country. you all are our biggest pride! and I know, LA 2028, EJ will take home the gold. he was born for it.
You did great EJ, your now at #4 in the Olympics. We had seen your heart and know you can still do more. Yulo did bounce back from Tokyo and win the gold in Paris, we believe you can still win in the next one. Stay strong and have positive mindset. Filipinos see's your heart and no need to be sorry. If you still feel the need to apologize, you can do that by not giving up and being better in the next Olympics. We would still be here behind your back so keep going.
Thank you so much EJ Obiena for your strong determination and hard works to compete for us Filipinos showing to the world of your love of country👍🇵🇭 we salute U💗🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
kudos to obiena's coach as well for being with him all these years, and to sergey bubka who have seen the potential in him and helped him polish it ❤❤❤❤
EJ is such an inspiration. May all of his (and his team's) hard work pay off. EJ, maraming maraming salamat for representing the Philippines to the best of your ability.
What a great person, his ideals are extra ordinary. Of all the hardship and controversy he has been through before, he still chose to represent the Philippines. He is a gem. He has so many achievements but he remained humble. God bless you more Ej! Thank you for loving our country.
Hangad ko na matupad mo ang pangarap mong manalo sa Paris Olympics! Ang hirap mahalin ng Pilipinas, pero nandiyan ka pa rin. Isa kang inspirasyon sa aming mga Pilipino.
This guy is unstoppable! He chose to stay and do what he loves despite of unimaginable heartbreaks. Win or lose, I'm super proud to be his kababayan. May agimat ang dugong pinoy! Good luck bukas, EJ!
EJ is a nice guy ! He’s got his heart in the right place, intelligent ,humble, and a gentleman. Loves his family, Tondo and the Philippines. Wishing him the best of luck in the next Olympics!
ej obiena will always have a special place in my heart 🥺 please know we admire and respect everything you were doing and sacrifices to represent the country ❤ words can't express how immensely proud i am, we all are!
This is so moving!! What a true patriot! Knows his privilege, gift, and limitations. Indeed an inspiring individual and story! And Coach Vitaly’s segment 🫶🏼🥹 you can feel the love and passion they both have for the sport and coach’s faith in EJ. This is what PUSO means!!!
I'm crying the whole time I'm watching this. I've never been so proud of someone in my whole life, not even of myself. I've never been an athlete and I don't play any sports, but seeing a glimpse of EJ's hard work inspires me so much. I just want to say to you, EJ, that all of your sacrifices and hard work are not in vain. An athlete like you is our forever treasure. You make us proud not just with your achievements but with your passion and love for our country. You are the epitome and the backbone of the country's pole vaulting. You are phenomenal, extraordinary, and incredible both as a person and an athlete. Seeing you rise above those bars every time is a win for every Filipino. Nobody does it like you do-you set the bar at its highest. Thank you so much, Coach Vitaly Petrov, and to all the people who have been with EJ from the beginning. All of your dedication and hard work are seen and deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking care of and helping EJ to fly high in pursuit of his dreams and goals. It might take a little while for the whole nation to discover how amazing pole vaulting is, but I know for sure that you've opened a lot of hearts supporting and loving pole vaulting-I know it because I'm one of them. To the Philippines and those in power, it's time for us to recognize and genuinely support our athletes. After all, medals can't come home without our athletes. They all deserve an early recognition!!! I'm sorry that you've been through so much, EJ. The world can wait. I hope you have a successful recovery from your surgeries. You deserve all the best things in the world! Whatever your decision is, we've got your back! I'm your #1 fan, EJ, and will continue to be! 🫡❤️🔥🇵🇭 LABAN!
What an inspiring journey you have there, EJ. 🥹 Truly proud of you for every jump you did all for the love of our country. Through ups and downs and amidst struggles, you manage to always rise up once again no matter the odds. Missing the podium in the Paris Olympics is not a total setback; progress is still progress and it's a win considered especially for a "kid from Tondo who didn't win in the Palarong Pambansa" but is now side by side today along with the world's bests. One jump at a time, EJ. We'll be supporting and cheering for you. 🇵🇭❤️
So much respect for athletes like you EJ! Thank you for your dedication despite all the challenges you’re one tough athlete and you deserve more recognition.
Great storytelling! EJ’s journey truly highlights the common struggles faced by Filipino athletes and his incredible triumphs over them. The opportunities he has now should be, like he said, a norm for all aspiring young athletes with great potential. Sadly, such support is often limited, and Filipino athletes often do not receive the backing they deserve. It’s uplifting to see athletes like EJ representing the Philippines on the world stage. He’s a true source of national pride and joy. The bond he shares with his coach is remarkable-it’s as if his coach is a second father to him. I’m so happy for both of them!
Let’s go, EJ! Tokyo is a learning opportunity for you. You’ve matured and gained a lot of experience and strength this past year. The Paris Olympics are for you. We will support you. #PUSOEJOBIENA
Mabuhay ka, EJ! You have made history. Your extraordinary journey is an inspiration to many, especially those from the global South, who have least resources and support from their governments. What pride and honor you have brought to the country!
Why do I get emotional after I watch this episode, especially when he said that if his coach retires, he also retires too😭. Laban EJ! You deserve to have a podium finish in the Olympics. Goodluck on your next game in the future.
npaka authentic naman ni sir EJ, gusto padin nya i air dry ang kanya mga clothes. Respect.Edit: Ive seen Kendricks sa Olympic game last night, npka bait, its nice to see him here, tlagang good role model for sportsmanship
Thank you for your time and space follow your dreams wish you good luck for the Paris Olympic 2024 , thank you for your coach , friends, families, I can see self- caring. You have injections of confidence. God bless always.. it is experience representing Philippines 🇵🇭 Mabuhay
i’m here after the olympics. i mean it’s already a given that you’re a legendary pole vaulter, but as someone who’s not an athlete or anything near it, i applaud and appreciate you more now for your wisdom. not many can express and explain how they feel with so much substance. you are indeed one of a kind. also saw some clips from your press interviews, and what really caught my attention is how expressive you are with your thoughts. you’re not afraid to speak about things that may seem uncomfortable for some, but it’s actually the reality. i mean to be asked about the next steps after a major heartbreak is already a lot, more so when you’re expected to say things that people want to hear. as much as we’d want to see you win a medal in the olympics, i hope you’d take the time to process and put things into perspective. and whatever choice you make, i hope it’s a choice you made for yourself and not for others. mabuhay ka, ej! 🇵🇭
Rooting for you EJ! God bless you and Coach Vitaly! Thank you Smart for your support and for this really great documentary series - more people need to see it! TH-cam algorithm please show it to more Filipinos please - sports fans and non sports fans alike
The fact that he chose to play for the Philippines even though he could easily represent other countries shows us how much heart he has for the country. Despite what he went through in PATAFA and still placed fourth in Paris tells us how dedicated he is in his sports. Mabuhay ka EJ!
Thank you for representing the Philippines even through how crappy the support the govt has been giving. Thank you EJ! We are prsying for your GOLD 🥇 in Paris Olympics! 🇵🇭
