  • An older stock plant from a field grower is trimmed focusing on taper and future development. This is not a Chinese elm which is most often found in bonsai but a cork bark elm. Basic principle are the same. Design choices are discussed and I show you how I handle extreme trunk-budding.

Hi All, this is of course a first step in developing this bonsai. I am sorry about my cold when I was taking it. I do hope you can understand my stuffed nose talks! Please drop me a line what you think of the video and how you wish this tree to develop!
The video is off to a slow start. Do use the chapters to step through the sections of interest!

@@GrowingBonsai you buy nursery material, soil, and pot for a total of less than $50 to make into a bonsai.
Nigel at The Bonsai Zone was just challenged by another channel to do it. He used a Mong Aralia.

I like that tree! The three branch problem seems to have an obvious solution for me. This wants to be a two trunk elm, I would lose the thin branch. Beautiful material and great video as Always Jelle.😀👍

@@GrowingBonsai unfortunately no. The dutch elm disease has wiped out 75% of them and the ones remaining is protected (and proboably sick anyway). Import of new stock heavily regulated. However, I have one of them "zelkovas" in my collection.😀👍

It helps to click on the … and turn on the Reminder. TH-cam will pop up a notice and email you. 3. When the video starts, make sure you click on LIVE CHAT. That’s,where you can chat with everyone and ‘attend’. Good luck. I hope to see you at future premieres. 🐦💙
