Japanese armour is thought to have evolved from the armour used in ancient China and Korea. Cuirasses and helmets were manufactured in Japan as early as the 4th century. Tankō, worn by foot soldiers and keikō, worn by horsemen were both pre-samurai types of early Japanese cuirass constructed from iron plates connected together by leather thongs.

I haven't watched the video, but i already know the names of all the individual components and pieces of the Japanese samurai armor, since i'm a very smart individual with a broad interest.
I will share my knowledge with you people, so i can be praised for my huge intellect afterwards.
the common Japanese terminology for the helmets these samurai often wore is: JUPUNUSESUMURUIHELMURU, they often also often had these huge schoulder pats, which they called SHUDURBORDURU, not to be confused with the northern japanese term of shoulder pats, which is NURDERJAPENESUSSHUDORBORDURU.
Most japanese warriors also used a CROTCHPROTECTERUDESUKAWAI to defend against a common technique at the time in feudal japan, which was called "BALLKICKERUOUCHERUCRIEONGROUNDDERUDATO". I'm not going to explain how the technique works because its to complicated and would take ages to explain.

Just a little bit small note about the Crest part. Maedate should be this character 前立（まえだて）("Front" and "Stand" characters)
The kanji you used is 立物（たてもの）= Tatemono ("Standing Thing")
Though both can be used to called the Crest part of the helmet, only the kanji's pronunciation was miss-matched.

one thing i always have in mind is about some depictions of nobunaga oda in regards of his clothing and armour because sometimes there is even in japanese pop culture his armour and clothing resembles european inspiration so how much of that is true ? and black is always a good color for armour :) btw awesome video

I had one year of kendo(around 10 years ago) when was at university. Didn't have the time to pass the first kyu. I always loved the dark blue of the default keikogi. So Ill have a dark blue armor.
I would have to say blue would be my fav Samurai armor color.
I would have to say that my favorite color for yoroi is gold. Black, however, is a close second.
I like blue samurai armour. Maybe you could do a video about lasoos in mounted combat?

I think that I slightly prefer red ones. But the black armors are really nice too. :)

That cloak looks very strange.
That's because it kind of is. It's a pretty unique concept when it comes to armor. Basically, it's attached to the armor in such a way that when the samurai is riding, the air coming from the front inflates the cloak, basically turning it into an air cushion. The idea behind this is that any arrows coming in from the back will hit the cushion, which will slow them down and they'll either just bounce off the cloak or slow down enough that they won't do any damage when they hit the armor.
The reason the arrows don't just rip through the cloak is because it's not TOO inflated, which means that the moment an arrow hits, the fabric just caves in instead of resisting. It still pushes against the arrow, slowing it down, but it doesn't push hard enough for the arrow to cut through. Also helps that they were sometimes made of silk. That shit's tough.

Exactly, most of the time when I hear statements "why samurai didn't use shields?" the answer is pretty clear, because they had different solutions to this problem, from lamellar armor to horo.

Our Armor was mostly made out of Hide, Leather and Iron, Shields were also Iron. The End.

As with most things, my favorite colour for Samurai armour would be black. Maybe accented with blue.
I paused the video to look at the sashimono and I must say the Miyoshi looks almost like the colours I'm using to make my own armour, but reversed. The Kozane is dark green and the Odoshi is brown. I do not yet have a crest.
I was recently thinking about Japanese clothes as I was putting on my hakama on for my lesson. What did most Japanese during feudal times wear in winter, and mountainous regions, such as the northern areas, and Choshu province? By feudal I mean the period before the Boshin war.

Favorite colour of armour is a dark midnight blue
Your choice of colors were mine, but I'd hazard if they were accurate green or blue for third place and orange/beige in fourth.

Brown/red/black and their shades were the most common. Sometimes gold and steel like lacquer were used.
Others colors were made with the odoshi

Sorry for the late response, what dates did that period encompass? The reason I wasn't sure that gold was historical is because I saw it in the last samurai. Also are you a Christian?

Azuchi nomoyama is 1575-1615 more or less.
One of the famous Tokugawa Ieyasu armor was covered in gold lacquer; but it was all related to the "kawari helmet" tradition and the need to be seen by your own troops.
However most common colors were various type of brown, red and black
I could not afford the full scale armor so I had to go 1/6 scale from coomodel

because without lacquer the metal would rust and be useless.
Lacquer is mandatory in the japanese environment.

Well is about the level of humidity and the rainy season you have in Asia I guess.
In Europe there are some places with high level of humidity, but Japan is everywhere like this.
Probably the lacquer in Europe wasn't needed.

With the Mempo, I see that you use an elastic to secure it. I've also wandered how the Mempo is attached? I thought that it was directly fastened to the helmet, but from your video it looks like it can be worn separately to the helmet. Is this historical or more convenience?
It's not an elastic strap, it's just another cord like all the rest and no it cannot be worn without the helm, you have to attach it through the helmet ;)

Old terminology. There are multiple ways by the way; the haidate might be called hizayoroi for example

This is just my guess, but the outfit that Samurai Jack wears is either a simple kimono or a yukata.
The hakama (which from my research can go over a kimono) are more pants-like and are closer to what Kenshin Himura of Rurouni Kenshin wears.
