Not that I'm unsympathetic to the plight of the animals...but the best option is a tranq gun, and if you can't get that within a reasonable time, then a rifle or pistol. If you don't have that, maybe you wait until they exhaust themselves completely, and then make a careful approach. Or if that doesn't work maybe you cut the wire a few feet back from the animals and hope they're able to eventually work their way loose when not bound to the spot by the posts. They're very lucky it ended well.
