OSRS GIGACHADS STAY WINNING 🗿 Seriously though, OSRS is an incredible game. The best part about the game is that the progression is centered around how you decide to play the game, and not individual gear upgrades to pass a threshold. The quests rewards offer skill xp, skilling methods, mini games, items, access to bosses, and access to entire regions of the world for you to unlock as reward. There’s no wrong way to play the game, and there are multiple account-restrictive modes for players that want an extra challenge. As long as you have a goal within the game that you want to achieve, you will continue to return to OSRS again and again. There’s a saying in the community that goes, “Nobody quits OSRS, we just take long breaks.”
I think it's the sandbox style where you can just do whatever u want.. u can even stay at season server forever and be a tuvala enjoyer :) And it's still the peak combat system in MMO imo, at least of how satisfying it is.
Blue, if you play FF14 please have in mind that it's a jRPG game where everything is locked behind the story, to unlock content you gotta play the story. It's a lot of quests "go here go there" but it does pays off in the end. It's a linear Themepark MMO. It's a different mindset, combat is slow at the start but I promise you it gets 1000x better mid/higher levels. You gonna love the raids, Trials, dungeons, Gold Saucer and ERP of course.
Can you power level by just killing tons of mobs so you can power creep past mobs in future zones? Like in every FF before it? Or do the zones and mobs scale with your level?

There are open world mini-events called FATEs that has a level sync, you have to accept the level sync to join that event when you enter the event's area. Let's say I'm level 80 and got a Group Finder pop to do a level 26 dungeon. My level will be scaled down and I can only use the skills up to level 26 even though I unlocked all skills to levle 80. That's how they balance the game so high level players don't one-shot everything in dungeons and raids. (I don't like it but I understand the reason). You can grind mobs but it won't give you enough XP to be viable leveling. Dungeons and main story quest gives the biggest XP.

But that’s all early game dungeons, I haven’t done endgame because the game is so tedious to play. Very slow combat and a lot of text, some of them are voiced, some not and back and forth questing. A lot of huge things that makes me stop playing.
Idk man. OSRS is pretty good. It’s not always about the graphics or intensity of gameplay. A lot of it is laid back and chill and light hearted. Plus OSRS probably has some of the best player to developer communication that I’ve seen in an mmo. The regular updates keeps the game fresh and there’s always something to do. Plus it plays largely on the nostalgia of people who played the game. They do a really good job at expanding on that nostalgia by making sequels to quests. The voting system can be a double edged sword, but it largely does good things for the game.
I have to be honest here, this numbers and how they are gathered are very unreliable if you could actually get data from the game actual players, like New World and Lost Ark, is one thing... but everything else that is not directly related to steam, and even steam numbers have been proven to not being very accurate at times, both lower and higher numbers... So I think we need to take all of this with , not a pinch of salt but a full 20kg bag :D ... but even so does give a good perspective, just hope people just give any mmo on the list a try if they were looking to get into it :)

I quit BDO this week. There is something seriously wrong with BDO. With a 7950x3D and 4090, I am getting 10c higher temps than stess testing and an even greater difference over any other game. It doesn't feel safe to play. This is also a big deal on the forums proving I am not alone.

If bots are counted, WoW banned almost ~1m bot accounts towards the end of 2023. I've gone back to old school RS so many times literally to just afk farm some skill up, none of which are combat skills. Amazing game to play with a second monitor to catch up on things.

I really love Lost Ark, but the Raids are too annoying with pugs. Most people do not even watch the fights before entering raids. Making it nearly impossible to progress, and then they have the annoying gear progression. BDO is a much better experience when it comes to progression with the introduction of Tuvala gear. I am more of an RPG player, and I only want to be able to experience all the story quests.

osrs is just better because it has insanely good systems. Crafting. Raiding. Pvp. Everything is understandable to even a new player. Seeing a player with an inferno means you know they're a giga chad. Items show you how far someone has come. UNlike other mmos where you buy some stupid fucking skin and have no idea what that dude has done. Gear flexing matters. Progression matters.
playing a game for graphics is cringe rs3 and osrs have a charming art style to them and the gameplay is great; likewise i'm loving bdo not because of the graphics but again the artstyle and the combat feel :D
With new world the developers are focused on pulling in the PvE crowd again but pretty much the PvVp crowd the only one left in the game lol, expansion happened pulled pve players back in they finished content and left again and all that remains are the pvp players who havant gotten more content in years :p runescape has better overall systems compared to most MMO out atm which is why its still so popular imo, BDO only realy have graphics and combat going for it outside of that it fall flat in most other departments since they get overlooked
imagine bdo player invest like 5 dollar to the pearl abyss stock to help the community with hope of some huge update and maybe pearl abyss give player something in the game in return..
Runescape is definitely one of the best MMOs. I love graphics and combat as much as the next guy, but just the systems, feel, quests, community of Runescape just make it superior to everything, yes Black Desert too.
I still cant beleave that oldschool runescape is not 1#. In osrs there are no limitations in game except for membership, and that is hella cheap and u can get it for in game curency asap, unlike in bdo where u have 3 "memberships" (vp,kama,old moon) that u cant even buy off marketplace. Edit okay maybe 1# is too much to hope for since there is WOW :D

Its crazy how hung up you are on graphics. OSRS will forever be a better game than BDO and thats coming from someone having played both way more than I'd like to admit. OSRS foundation is just so much better than any other mmorpg I've ever played. OSRS is by no means perfect but I think the biggest reason why OSRS is still so succesful is because of the way gear progression works. You can log out for a year, come back and just continue where you left off and not feel like all your progress was for nothing. In alot of modern mmorpgs you quit for a year and all the effort you put into it can be done on a new character within a week or so.

Well OSRS and BDO are by far my most played mmos. And i kinda agree that OSRS is a better game but each games have their own strength. Like the Lifeskill in BDO is just better imo, OSRS skilling is mostly pointless and just number go up. But the Pve in OSRS is better especially when you actually do the bosses or raids. I also agree that Blue does not understand OSRS since he does not know how difficult and how much depth OSRS combat has.
