This fancy knot is good just for the shear pleasure of tying it. Could be used as a decorative pendant for a necklace or as part of some other jewelery. Could be made into a zipper pull or a stopper on a lanyard or key fob. Creates a functional good looking button too, which could be used to button off a knotted survival bracelet.

The Chinese button knot is the one thing I was able to learn from my Ama, who lived 12 hours away when I was growing up and only knew how to speak Teochew. She was the only grandparent connection I felt that I had, and I was sad when I realized one day that I forgot how to do it. I feel disconnected from my heritage often as a first gen Chinese American. Thanks for sharing, hopefully one day I can make my own qipao and use this to make the buttons.
No Chinese it is 100% Mongolea national 100%

Thanks so much. I made a bunch for a coat and it came out beautifully. I used seam tape with cotton cord instead of paracord and was able to get nice hard buttons with matching loops. I even have spare seam tape in case my stitching comes loose or some wear thin.
I have a shirt with similar buttons and want to learn to make them for a coat. I can't figure how to work in the strings (that are left) and/or how to make the loop to sew them on?
Best tutorial for chinese globe not. Thanks for sharing!
Such a pretty knot! Your instructions were great, but since I managed to get a head injury a few years ago, I have tremendous difficulty following instructions. Mine didn't come out nearly as pretty as yours. 'l guess I will have to let my husband learn your know and he can show me. Thanks for the video!
i'm searching for this useful tutorial, thanks
Thank you so much! It's the only video I have unterstood on TH-cam.. I nearly got weird cause it doesn't works (it also fails with German videos) and I'm so happy that I can do this very easy at my first try with this video. You explain it slowly, that was very helpful, big hug🤗
Thank you I’m a beginner and your instructions which I have followed was done successfully and made myself a end of my key chain ring look forward to more from you

Ok I made the knot and it looks great but how do i make it into a button without the two cords hanging out?
Good
This is Mongolia button
I didn't like it. The tightening part, the "arduous task," was glossed over. I need to see that part to be satisfied.
Thanhs
Please do this vid again. @0:44 your fingers cover the point at where the knots meet and I can't tell which one you are grabbing to do the weave. I think I watched 6x before I got frustrated
