  • Dorothy has left Kansas and arrived in Ireland, or at least part of her has. Judy Garland's original costume is in Newbridge Silverware Museum of Style Icons and Taragh Loughrey-Grant followed the yellow-brick road.

Thank you for commenting about the handkerchief, I was beginning to think that I was the only one who knew that this "secret pocket" was not a secret. She actually pulls the handkerchief out of her pocket to wipe the lions tears. It's ridiculous for him to think that this pocket was created by the MGM designer for her cigarettes! Where did he obtain his facts from?

    1) All of the test Dorothy dresses are blue or red, so it's unlikely they experimented with black.
    2) That secret pocket was NOT for cigarettes. Judy actually used the pocket in the movie for a handkerchief.

For technicolor Adrian had to experiment with light pink also, tones all read differently on technicolor. Another example is Marilyn Monroe's famous pink "diamonds are a girls best friend" dress, It photographs shocking pink when it is actually a powder pink in real life,

Disney Studios actually had a chart for the department that colored the animation cells; the chart had a color on the left, which is what you wanted on screen, and the color on the right was the color you needed to use that would appear as the other color when photographed in Technicolor. I never thought they would need to do the same thing with clothing (the pink blouse)! Great video (but it was not the first technicolor movie as the man says)

Thank you. I was going to comment on this as well. And now, they're spreading stories about her *smoking?* Good grief, let's let her rest in peace, everyone.

No the dresses themselves aren't pink. The white blouse was dyed pink and photographs as white. The one in the video above was likely used for publicity shots as it clearly is not pink. Some of the pink ones still exist.
