    Great overview of the Typhoon - Calsynth developed the prototype with Jim Matheson designing. It's flattering to see other quality builders follow

    I love my Ty.
    Your channels output is honestly so immersively generous, a second watch is mandatory, and enjoyably so✌️.

    ... and you have solidified my decision to get typhoon! and probably beads too and about 6 other modules once my wallet can afford them. great content!

      I honestly believe with Typhoon you get the best possible Clouds and with Beads you'll get how Mutable originally intended it. You just can't go wrong here :)

      Hi mr, Riehl! Good to finally see you on MW. Your performance is one of the best I've ever seen. Modular + Violin; I did something similar with the Stradivari VST this Jamuary, but you did it for real!

    great sound shapes out of typhoon, love using one too.. i'mpossibly looking to get a neuzit instreuments - quasar to rotate sound even more, which would go well with typhoon.

    Typhoon would be my default choice for clouds clones, had I not gone the Supercell route (before Typhoon came out), and with which, I could not be more pleased... never 'bored' with your stuff, man. ;) I really should check out this 'Jamuary' thing. Was it Cuckoo?

    So now I need to get clouds and typhoon even though I already have beads? Lol jk great patch man! So beads does have a huge lush reverb wash. But I guess your saying clouds is even more? I can’t imagine why you’d ever need anything more than what beads has but then again I’m not a big ethereal meditative ambient guy. I’m more into the gritty textures, drones and granular glitchyness I guess.

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With a Typhoon you won't be needing Clouds. As for Beads, I feel the 'cabin' reverb does a great job for the module, but the Clouds reverb has been used and abused without even touching the granular texture functions. Beads only has one mode, while Typhoon has eight modes. These modes also offer you a wealth of grit and glitch. Especially the spectral madness is super.

      I'll never ever sell my Clouds. I now have two clones and two originals. When your case grows, you always want one near. And honestly, I rarely use Beads. Sorry. But I will never sell my Beads either.

    very nice demo, thanks, I´ve got typhoon, and got beads, but typhoon really shines, especially spectral madness mode... and it serves well with nebula as companion. A bit of a dilemma here, arbhar or morphogene? all in the granular realm, well sort of... what do you think?

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you already have Nebulae, the Arbhar will be totally different, where the Morphagene will have a lot in common. I personally feel Nebulae is technically superior over the Morph, but the Morph is a true MakeNoise product that can escape it's own design limitations. Just the CV out (envelope follower) is enough to get a Morph because it seriously extends your CV control potential. Arbhar is a true granular synth where Morph and Nebulae are loopers imho.

    • @CarlosSantos-zt6gj
      @CarlosSantos-zt6gj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CinematicLaboratory yeah, yes I got your drift about make noise, they have really different thinking... arbhar looks more like performance oriented, with the onboard mic and controls... I came from maxmsp electroacoustic performance patching and granular synthesis is something very common with the computing power available... its my first year with modular... I would expect more easy tools to do granular, or even spectral stuff, FFT's, etc... anyway thanks for you considerations, i like your stuff, you got some really nice sound compositions.

    Hey! cool man! Can you put the Typhoon firmware into Clouds? It sounds naïve, but many contemporary modules have firmware updates. Another question: considered taking this fantastic sound field one step further backwards and incorporating the use of the QMMG or MMG to create some interesting envelopes etc? I have 2 MMG and on Saturday I‘m (hooefully) getting a QMMG mk2 … If you like, Drop me a PM freesound.org. Cheers and stay safe! Jim

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately you can't install the Typhoon firmware on Clouds or Monsoon because Clouds is missing all the hardware control and it doesn't have a powerful processor to handle the load. For Clouds it's either factory, parasite or krammer.

  • @swaspc7618
    @swaspc7618 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've been researching Clouds clones for days, figuring out the differences between all of them and which one to buy. Among my choices are Typhon and Supercell (a bit big) perhaps Microcell instead? Aesthetically I like the Greyscale modules better, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice functions for aesthetics. I have not found any comparison between Supercell - Microcell and Typhon. Your opinion would be very helpful.

      After Later Audio has a great blog post here about the history and differences. In short, Typhoon is the most powerful clone. afterlateraudio.com/blogs/news/understanding-clouds-and-its-derivatives

      @@CinematicLaboratory Thank you, I had read it before.
      Something that the article does not discuss is the differences between Typhon and Supercell. In your opinion, why is Typhon superior to Supercell or Microcell? Because of the sliders?

    • @CinematicLaboratory
      @CinematicLaboratory  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@swaspc7618 I would not say 'superior'. Soundwise, they share the same SuperParasites firmware. You may see it as a Microcell with sliders. The built in LEDs give you an idea what's going on when CV is applied. So I don't think there's a difference you need to worry about. Hope this helps!
