I wish you had this video up and running when I first got started in leather craft!! I didn’t know what I absolutely needed to get started, so I bought what I “thought” I needed. BIG, BIG MISTAKE!! It cost me a fortune. Now I very rarely use those tools if at all. You know the old saying, “too late too smart” boy is that correct. Thanks Daniel for the video. You are right on buddy. Best regards, Richard

chip brushes - get them at harbor freight - whole box of them for cheap, cheap!
they come in 1", 2" and 3" sizes... 1" comes in a box of 36 for $9.99 - that is just over a quarter a piece... the 2 inch (also a 36 pack) is about 34 cents a piece.
I also grabbed their interchangeable head hammer for $5 - the metal head is nice and rounded, great for tapping down stitch lines, etc, the 3 rubber heads are also useful.. I use the white one (hard) on my hole punches & stitching chisels.. it is holding up VERY well so far.

EBay helped me out when I started as well as some of the small independent shops

Great video Daniel! I've had some of these sitting in my cart and you reminded me I should probably go ahead and finalize the purchases. Lol. I loved the Adam Savage reference. He is quite an inspiration to anybody in any craft. I picked up a Halder Supercraft dead blow hammer he recommended as one of his favorite tools (small poly heads) and it is perfect for tapping down stitches :)

Thank you for your great videos. Sometime I would really like to see how you organize your stamps at your workbench. I have tried several layouts, but it would be helpful to get some feedback on how to make it better.

Great idea. Maybe I can add that to one of our Q&a sessions. 😊

Hey fella can you at some point explain what exactly make say example a Barry king stamping tool worth more the say the same stamping tool i might get off of say Amazon,as i bought a set of 20 from Amazon for umm maybe $25 now im pretty sure one wouldnt get the same set from Barry King for that price ,but they would both do the same job ,like bevel ,stamp so what make the difference .Hmm and if i can add would that Barry King bevel improve how my design came out ?

Good question! First would be the material its made from. I've literally bent stamps during normal use. Once you bend them, they are done. Precision, consistency, variety are all big factors. Uniqueness is another one. If you want a stamp that does a very specific job, you're not likely to get that from Amazon.

definitely the quality - Amazon stamps are ok for starting out, but the quality is just not there and they will wear out faster, not give as nice of an impression as a higher end tool will.
not saying you have to buy high end, but if you want to stay with the craft, you will eventually want better tools.
I bought a specialty stamp on Etsy recently, and it is GORGEOUS. Came from Bulgaria, the artisan/seller was great to work with, too.

Spend 20$ once instead of 10$ twice
