Superb video with all I needed to know to start using this intimidating tool...a little less so now, thanks to you! A big thank you.

Could you discuss the sharpening of the blade when you first get the swivel knife?

Thanks Joe. Really useful to me as a new knife maker having to learn to do leather sheath decoration. I needed a basic explanation of what maybe seemed obvious to many leatherworkers!

Thank you for the tip. You read my mind. 😆 i have a question though.
How sharp should the swivel knife be? I think I sharpened mine to much. My cuts look like slices.

Okay so quick question if I may ask, actually two quick question, the first one is when my dad did leather work in the 1970's, I don't think he ever sharpened his swivel knife, at that point would I need a new one since I inherited his leather tools? Second question is would you recommend a ceramic bladed swivel knife or are the metal bladed swivel knives better for leather work?

It would really depend on the type of leather, cheaper leathers or leathers with a texture, no that won't work. Tooling leather can but you'll need to have a light touch so you're not pushing it too far though
