i bought the game yesterday and had absolutely no idea you could buy health and upgrades the whole time i’ve been retrying the first level thinking this is incredibly difficult and that i’m just really bad at video games because i was fighting the 1st evil ex with the remaining health of all the fights previous lol

@@CyberMonk22 when there’s any door try to see if you can go inside them and then if you can you talk to the guys and buy different items that can give you health

This game was sooo hard. Not the bosses, they are ok, but the generic mooks have really unfair advantages like lightning fast speed, blocking like 80% of time, stunlocking you, almost all of them able to use weapon, etc. And then many had special gimmicks that made them extra annoying.
I like it but goddamn it, was so hard until buffing the hell out of your character's stats.
i can't beat that final evil exes cuz you know easy to learn hard to master kind of video game thing
just choose the easiest difficulty
i picked the rough and tough difficulty and it was easy to master these beat em up games
So in other words it has Yakuza 3 enemies because they do the exact same thing, but they give less exp.

Wow this is about as badass as Streets of Rage was when it came out. The graphics look also the Sprite the music the character designs this is fantastic
This is more like river City ransom. The coins, upgrading your character, and throwing everything. It's all from river City ransom. Great back in the day beat em up game.

This takes me back to uni playing this together with friends. It's funny to say that because the game itself was meant to be a nostalgic callback but already this much time has passed since then! Definitely a big inspiration for my enjoyment of modern pixel art games and the indie gaming industry (although I don't believe this game is indie, it has the spirit).

This brings me back to a Tmnt game on the Gameboy Advanced that was like this
Man as much as i LOVE this game playing it out i can tell for sure that gameplay wise hasn't aged well and that hurts:( from the Parry system being as bad as RE 3 nemesis, the grab object control being the same as the hit button and getting you beaten up since you can't guard, and that the commanda tend to be very clunky, but still my passion for it burns Big still, i mean i no death run in master so that speaks for how much i love it.
Edit: RE3 does not have a parry system but a dodge system and this game has both, the one that i found bad is the parry system.

Great to play this again. Or fully this time, I had just the demo back in the day. Didnt know this game has non-save stopping cheap codes. Seriously, how many games these days have those anymore? GTA doesnt count, because you cant save. Red Dead doesnt count either & things are worse there because you cant even activate the codes right away.
Anyway, the money code is great. Not only for the lvls, but for buying extra lives. The game gives you 3 lives at the start, but just the first stage wipes out two of them. Buying more lives requires paying Scott's late fees first. Without that code, I'd never be able to do that. Not early on.
So how tf were people expected to play this without codes? I enjoy classic local multiplayer, but everyone plays Online. And before anyone mentions that Network Mode, all the stages are unlocked right away. Its weird that the story mode doesnt let other players join in at anytime.

@@UnknownD0orknob Its easy to find. But you will have to play with 2 controllers, use the money code with one character, while the other you collect the money with & level them up.

Especially if you played the last stage on your own. Always down to my last life after the elevator platform makes it all the way down then I gotta fight Gideon and end up dying.
My first impression, it's so hard. Not only are you constantly being attacked in many directions (at the same time most of the time), but the developers did not even give you a chance to defend yourself since there is no block move. While your enemies can block, even the non-bosses.
You can block. But I agree that the game can get difficult.
@@nicolasrios3033 i think its not a timed parry block, more like your character standing there blocking, which usually doesnt do much when the enemy is also sitting there waiting for you to stop blocking

Replayable enough to warrant that price (for someone who's admittedly not the greatest fan of the genre but still enjoyed River CIty Random back in the day)? Edit: it LOOKS and SOUNDS great but how is it to play? Repetitive (I guess that's my main issue with this genre)?

Anyone else experiencing crashing after the Todd fight at the end of level three? we played it through three times and each time after we beat Todd the game crashes and resets to the home PS5 screen. I’ve googled and there’s a few of threads on Reddit about it with no seeming fix. has anyone gotten past it who had the crash issue and how did you do it? thanks.
Happened to me yesterday
If your playing on ps5, it’s gonna crash. Because ps5 is too advanced for an old game like scott pilgrim that came out on ps3. I have no issues playing it on my ps4 though.
