Dollywood Rainy Summer Day! First Time on Big Bear Mountain, NEW Foods, Rides, Gazillion Bubble Show

- Join us for a visit to Dollywood theme park for the beginning of their Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration 2023, and for our first time riding their brand new roller coaster, Big Bear Mountain! We ride Big Bear Mountain during the day and at night, and also ride lots of other favorite rides, including Blazing Fury, Thunderhead, FireChaser Express, Tennessee Tornado! We also get a Dollywood Summer Celebration tasting lanyard and try some of the new specialty foods using the Summer Celebration Tasting Pass, to show you what's new for foodies, including some tasty options from Til & Harvest Food Hall in Wildwood Grove, and we also enjoy the Gazillion Bubble Show, part of the summer festivities! Being a summer day in Tennessee, of course we experience lots of rain, so some events are cut short like the dance party, which we got a little of, and some of the evening show, but we also danced and partied in the rain, and rode Big Bear Mountain in the rain at night, and it was a blast and very memorable! It feels like literally yesterday that we last set foot in Dollywood; I can't believe that it's been almost a _year_ 😱 Believe it or not, it's actually the Gazillion Bubble Show that we miss the most. Hands down our favorite theme park show that doesn't involve fireworks! Big Bear Mountain looks like a heck of a ride...love the theming elements throughout the queue, and _love_ the onride soundtrack! Great to hear that they have cubbies available for small bags and loose articles. I do understand the need for lockers here and there, but I will always opt for a cubby if 'cubbying' is an option. Long live Thunderhead, one of the best wooden coasters in the country! ⚡😎 Also, loving Sam's hat!

Back when I was a kid, before it was Dollywood, it was Silver Dollar City. The big ride was Blazing Fury. Back then there was a water splash-down at the bottom of the final drop (Fire in the Hole!). By the way, back then, my favorite ride was a dark boat ride called the Flooded Mine. Great, cool (literally and figuratively) ride with basic scenes and animatronics (very similar to Blazing Fury scenes). Got a little wet but not too much. Finally, the train ride had scenes back then. I remember train robbers boarding the train. Anyway, thanks for that little trip down memory lane.

Hate that it rained during your visit but glad you guys still had a great time! I've been wanting to visit Dollywood for the longest; especially when Wildwood Grove opened. Hopefully if everything goes as planned, next Spring will be our first visit! My daughter would go crazy over the Gazillion Bubble Show but I'm guessing its just for the Summer. Hopefully it'll come back in future Summer events!

We went this pass Saturday and rode Big Bear for the first time and it was amazing. We also got to ride it at night and yes it was so good. Always love Dollywood. My sister and I brought clothes to change into to ride the wet rides and that was fun. However, the log ride was so scary, it is almost a dark ride and the drop was so big. What an awesome day!
We went yesterday!!!! Dollywood was a very pretty, clean park!! Very well themed!!! Lots of fun overall and good food offerings(although very pricey!!) We were disappointed the train was closed!! Lots of thrill rides and we rode most of them and they were fun-my head didnt agree though--!!! Like you , I wish there more slow paced rides---besides probably the kiddie rides that we didnt do!! Yall are troopers in all of the rain!! Luckily we didnt have any rain yesterday!!! PS--the park was super packed yesterday...at times even hard to walk through, but no regrets!! Great overall park!!

It's definitely worth a visit, Lauren! Has so much charm and they do such a nice job changing things out each season. The only season we haven't done is the holidays, and everyone says that's the best one, so hopefully we can this year.

😃 I knew y'all would go to Dollywood, since y'all were at Piegon Forge 😊 It’s great you got to ride Big 🐻, it looked cool. Although roller-coasters and I don't mix, dark rides like the ones at WDW Florida are more my style, however it still looks cool at Dollywood. It's great that y'all still made the best of the day, even with the rain, however I know rain doesn't bother you much because all the rain in Florida😊 Dollywood looks so fun, someday we plan to go, it's on my Bucket list 😊 However, since we been to WDW 2 times now, next Universal Studios Florida will come first, we can't wait for that next year, then next maybe in 2026 will be Dollywood 😊 Hope y'all continue to enjoy y'all adventures 😊 Be Safe Take Care 😊❤

So glad y'all finally got to ride Big Bear, It is such a great ride!! As far as the food, I can't believe you have never had fried corn, it is so good and that Pork Belly on a stick really is amazing!! And now I can tell you guys are Dollywood veterans, you know how you are supposed to eat Cinnamon Bread, you just got to get that good gooey stuff from the bottom...lol. I hate it rained off and on all day, but looks like y'all had fun in the rain too. It was so great to see you two again!! FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!!!
So Cool to find out the the Bubble show is Still There! Haven’t been to Dollywood since 2011 but this show was an ABSOLUTE HIGHLIGHT of our three days there!
We're hoping to go back to Dollywood next year. I absolutely LOVE Blazing Fury. I remember riding it way back when it was still Silver Dollar City.

That is an incredibly groovy tune at the end of the video, I truly dig it. It is a little jazzy and a little blues with a good amount of warmth. I also liked your video of Dollywood. The coverage of the rides, shows, and food is great. We unfortunately didn't have time to visit Dollywood when we were there almost a year ago. I have now seen what we missed. We'll have to go there next time.

I really wish Dollywood had gone the extra mile and built a cave section with an actual animatronic bear inside. I mean, come on, you have to see a bear on the ride at least once, right? It would have put disco yeti to shame. Oh well, missed opportunity. Thanks for posting, Jackie-bear!

My favorite coaster is Blazing Furry followed by Thunderhead then TN Tornado. My least favorite is Lightning Rod. My favorite show is there by Ms. Lillians BBQ because it is country songs of the 70's and 80's. The Hall Sisters are awesome too.
I like the cinnamon bread with the icing on first then smear on the applebutter. Wow so good. Been there March, May and June. Saving money to come down in July or August. Parking in Lot E Splash Country is the best lot. Quick and easy to get out. Safe travels

I'm going to Dollywood for the first time this week! This makes me so excited! I can't wait to try that fried corn- it looks so good!
The only time I was at Dollywood one of our 2 days there was storming too. I didn't get to do about half of the things I wanted to because of that but it was still fun. Since we were soaked anyway, we went on the log flume and got even more soaked.
The log flume is the one ride there I've never done, maybe next summer lol, bc I'm sure not gunna ride it in the fall or winter!
I am going to be making my first trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg next month. I want to say that your videos have helped me in the planning process. You and Sam provide information but make if fun, not boring. Thanks and keep up the great content.

Being from NC I should have known about fried corn! Never heard of it! Looks great though! There is just something about the taste of cinnamon that is highly addictive. The mother and her ducks were so cute! The rain must have brought them out. So sorry about the rain. It's always a bummer for me at any park. Yall have great attitudes!

No upside downs on that new ride? Sounds good to me! The older I get the more wimpier ha ha! I'm sorry you guys got so much rain while you were there but maybe that's more normal for there. Very rare for rain in the summer for us here in California. I've never been out that way. If so I'll try that new ride and that cinnamon bread!! Thank you guys!
Totally understand that, and sometimes the nice smooth rides offer such a great experience, and are something that more people can enjoy than the more extreme rides.

@curtissimpkins They got to see Dolly in person on their March visit for the 50th “I will always love you” anniversary celebration during the parade. I agree that it would be cool to meet Dolly in person. Love how Jackie and Sam always manage to go with the flow and make the best of their adventures despite the weather and not ideal situations. Dollywood is so much fun. My plan today Jackie is to go to the Gateway Arch and making a pit stop to Ozarkland in Kingdom City MO on the way home.
