    I own a 2021 Keystone Alpine and I love the floor plan. My unit came with the Suburban IW60RL tankless water heater and it hasn't worked consistently since we bought the unit. We had to replace the original and the replacement crapped out as well. Two summers of fun ruined because they can't put out a quality product. Run far, far away from any unit with this water heater...advice from a person living with the horror and added expense. I have a big expensive unit and have to use public shower rooms for hot water.

    Regarding you “fast is bad, slow is good” comment, I found with my new RV that I have to turn on my faucet full throttle for the tankless heater to detect water in the system. Anything below full force and the heater won’t start. I had to take a special trip to my service dept. while starting a camping trip to find this out. Is this uncommon?

    • @KeystoneRVCompany
      @KeystoneRVCompany  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good Morning, This is not uncommon however, we would advise that you have a local Keystone dealer inspect the water heater to ensure that everything is working properly on it.

    Do I need to switch it off after use, or can I leave it on all weekend? Talking about the on/off switch on the tankless unit. Thanks. Own 2023 keystone bullet.

      Good Morning! You can leave this on if you wish to however, if you will not be at the unit and it will just be sitting there we would recommend turning off all power. Thank you!

    Yeah they're great if you have full hookups(sewer and water). These things are not designed for boondocking or traveling. They waste too much water and fill up the gray tank too fast.

    • @petermcdonald2846
      @petermcdonald2846 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why would an “on demand” water heater be less efficient for boondockinig than a traditional heater?

    • @mshade353
      @mshade353 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@petermcdonald2846 traditional uses less water. With on demand have to run the hot water until it gets hot, which amounts to a little less than a gallon of water. But let's say you want to wash your hands. You can't just turn on the water and expect it to be hot. You have to wait. With a traditional water heater it's hot almost immediately when you turn it on.

      @@mshade353 That's my experience so far too with our new motorhome that has a tankless water heater vs our travel trailer that had the traditional heater. A bit disappointing for sure.

    is there not a tankless that can use both 120 v and gas? Want to replace our keystone tank with tankless but still want it to use 120v when in more semi-permanent location where elec is avail.

    BOONDOCKERS: They WILL use more water, fill your grey tanks quick because take a moment to get fired up and stay fired up. Shower cold or bring a portable hot tank.

      @@RodThibault-qe4hu if I could replace mine with a standard water heater, I would. They suck.
      The rv manufacturers need to redesign them AND position them directly next to, or underneath faucets. Ours (Passport SL 229rk)is in the front of the rig, kitchen and bathroom are in the rear.
      What brainiac came up with THAT design??? When we purchased the rig the salesman couldn't say enough about it. It was our first tankless water heater rv, so what did we know? Lol, now we know. Never again.

    You’re totally wrong on the idea of slowing down your water flow. If you don’t achieve the minimum flow rate, typically .4pm - .6gpm, the burner shuts off.

    Tankless water is not what it is cracked up to be. Wastes to much water, have to run a bathroom faucet along with kitchen faucet in order to have hot water to wash dishes.
    Keystone recommends running your fresh water pump to solve this issue.
    Sooo now if you have a park water connection you can’t use it other than to fill the fresh water holding tank so you can have hot water
    Another disadvantage to tankless is you are using more propane.
    The old style gas or electric 6 gallon tank is a much much better option
    Very disappointed with on demand hot water 😡😡

      @@soniastokes8590 same here. We have a Keystone Passport SL 229rk. The crazy (I'm trying to be nice by not using the word "stupid") design kitchen and bathroom in the rear and water heater in the front, uses way too much water just to get the water hot.
      I love the camper. The tankless water heater sucks because of where it's located.
